However, the machine can do absolutely nothing without software, that is, without a program that tells you what you have to do. A programming language can be defined as an artificial language that allows the programmer to communicate with the computer to tell him what he has to do. To this end, man has invented many programming languages, but all of them can be classified into three main types: the machine, low level, and high level. This bundle takes you to the discovery of the main programming languages required in the world of work, starting from scratch. Book 1: Coding for beginners Start from here to learn the basics! ICT as a Strategic Tool to Leapfrog the Efficiency of Tax Administrations by Centro Interamericano de Administraciones Tributarias 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 10 hours ago

This new CIAT publication addresses the use of information technologies in the tax administrations as a tool to increase voluntary compliance rates with tax obligations and the capacity to fight tax evasion and harmful tax planning. Chapters 2 to 7 deal with the application of ICTs in the registration processes, the processing of tax returns, auditing, risk management, collection of late payments and electronic documents. Chapter 10 deals with horizontal services, for general purposes, which should support the entire tax administration, regardless of the system's architecture. In this sense, aspects ranging from security or document management to business process automation are addressed. In a long-term vision to improve the use of information technology for the organization, Chapter 11 covers all the aspects that must be included for such purpose, as a roadmap. Chapter 14 reviews the critical factors of project management and change management as a contribution to achieving objectives, if well managed, or possibly leading to failure, if poorly executed. The potential that new technologies could bring to the tax administration is presented in Chapter 15. This chapter is not only for early adopters, but it is also a good incentive for dreamers that want to start the new disruptive trend for tax administration, not because it is in vogue, but because it really opens the potential to better services and control.

Projection-Based Clustering through Self-Organization and Swarm Intelligence: Combining Cluster Analysis with the Visualization of High-Dimensional ... by Michael Christoph Thrun (Springer Vieweg) 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 6 hours ago

This open access book covers aspects of unsupervised machine learning used for knowledge discovery in data science and introduces a data-driven approach to cluster analysis, the Databionic swarm (DBS). DBS consists of the 3D landscape visualization and clustering of data. The 3D landscape enables 3D printing of high-dimensional data structures. The clustering and number of clusters or an absence of cluster structure are verified by the 3D landscape at a glance. DBS is the first swarm-based technique that shows emergent properties while exploiting concepts of swarm intelligence, self-organization and the Nash equilibrium concept from game theory. It results in the elimination of a global objective function and the setting of parameters. By downloading the R package DBS can be applied to data drawn from diverse research fields and used even by non-professionals in the field of data mining.

S-BPM in the Wild: Practical Value Creation by Albert Fleischmann (Springer) 3.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 12 hours ago

This is the first book to present field studies on the application of subject-oriented business process management (S-BPM). Each case presents a specific story and focuses on an essential modeling or implementation issue, and most end with implications or suggestions for further studies. Significant variables and success factors are identified that were discovered during the respective study and lead to suggesting S-BPM novelties. For each case, the authors explain step-by-step how the story develops, and provide readers guidance by detailing the respective rationale. The studies covered are clustered according to three main S-BPM themes: Part I "Business Operation Support" documents approaches to the practical development of S-BPM solutions in various application domains and organizational settings, while Part II "Consultancy and Education Support" highlights cases that can help to train readers in S-BPM modeling and knowledge acquisition for S-BPM lifecycle iterations. It also refers to architecting S-BPM solutions for application cases based on hands-on experience. Part III "Technical Execution Support" focuses on concepts for utilizing specific theories and technologies to execute S-BPM models. It also addresses how to create reference models for certain settings in the field. Lastly, the appendix covers all relevant aspects needed to grasp S-BPM modeling and apply it based on fundamental examples. Its format reconciles semantic precision with syntactic rigor.>Addressing the needs of developers, educators and practitioners, this book will help companies to learn from the experiences of first-time users and to develop systems that fit their business processes, explaining the latest key methodological and technological S-BPM developments in the fields of training, research and application.

Cloud-Based Benchmarking of Medical Image Analysis by Allan Hanbury (Springer) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 6 hours ago

This book is open access under a CC BY-NC 2.5 license. This book presents the VISCERAL project benchmarks for analysis and retrieval of 3D medical images (CT and MRI) on a large scale, which used an innovative cloud-based evaluation approach where the image data were stored centrally on a cloud infrastructure and participants placed their programs in virtual machines on the cloud. The book presents the points of view of both the organizers of the VISCERAL benchmarks and the participants. The book is divided into five parts. Part I presents the cloud-based benchmarking and Evaluation-as-a-Service paradigm that the VISCERAL benchmarks used. Part II focuses on the datasets of medical images annotated with ground truth created in VISCERAL that continue to be available for research. It also covers the practical aspects of obtaining permission to use medical data and manually annotating 3D medical images efficiently and effectively. The VISCERAL benchmarks are described in Part III, including a presentation and analysis of metrics used in evaluation of medical image analysis and search. Lastly, Parts IV and V present reports by some of the participants in the VISCERAL benchmarks, with Part IV devoted to the anatomy benchmarks and Part V to the retrieval benchmark. This book has two main audiences: the datasets as well as the segmentation and retrieval results are of most interest to medical imaging researchers, while eScience and computational science experts benefit from the insights into using the Evaluation-as-a-Service paradigm for evaluation and benchmarking on huge amounts of data.
