Hood wanted this and more. His fingers grasped at the strings of life, pulling all he could and searching for a kind of immortality. This, however, comes at a cost. A cost that's measured in buckets of blood and shrouded in death.

The Twelfth of Never is about Gideon LaMont's struggle to control the demons hiding beneath the surface of his subconscious. The only thing he had to ease the pain was a picture of a woman he knew not how he came to having it or if she was real person, but it was the only thing he had to hang onto when the demons surfaced and the memories of a war long forgotten came back with a vengeance.
That all changed the day John Hamilton contacted the agency and wanted to turn over evidence of an attempt on the presidents' life. The floodgates of suppressed memories come hurtling back along with the knowledge that the woman in the picture he carried was real.
THE TWELFTH OF NEVER is a fast-paced, thriller with more twists and turns than a roller coaster ride as it rockets you towards a surprising climax. It is the story of a man suppressing atrocities of war until his survival depends on his coming to terms with what happened to him years ...

In his mind's eye, Tex remembered a champion caber toss from a long time ago. He studied the land where the event would be performed. He had found the perfect place. Before the competition, he had practiced with a similar log. He discovered the best way for him. He opened his eyes once more. It was his turn.
Now Tex cradled his chosen pole. He leaned forward. It looked like the log was falling from his grip, but it was all part of the plan. When the top of the log was a quarter of the way to the ground, he heaved up with a lifting motion. His form was that of a graceful pole vaulter.
The log spun in the air. The top of the pole struck the soft patch of ground and stayed there. The body of the log was propelled upright. When the momentum ceased, the log was completely upright. It stayed in the 12 o'clock position as the judges and crowd cheered. After nearly thirty seconds, it slowly fell away from Tex.

Unlike most novels of this genre, the author provides a very credible, even likely, background as to how the collapse of America occurs, and then how a normal middle class community responds to the breakdown of society:
In the near future, worldwide political and military strife increases, and Israel is forced to try to take out Iran's nuclear facilities weeks before they complete a nuclear weapon. As a result, Iran and Islamic terrorists accelerate their long-planned strike against the "Great Satan" in revenge.
An average American middle class community is faced with a sudden and complete breakdown of the U.S. economy, government, and society after a massive, nation-wide Islamic terrorist attack combined with a devastating cyber attack on American infrastructure. Like the vast majority ...
