This is the dream.
I am a comet,
and spectral tail ablaze.
In the blackest corner of
a starless sky,
I pace alone.
Through a forgotten orbit
out of desperation
for the familiar,
in loyalty to a rhythm
I cannot comprehend,
a millennium at a time.
You are born, and in that
instant my comet heart hears
the first notes of our song
and sets course for Earth.
By the power of dream
ice is exchanged for bone.
Stardust settles into green eyes.
Still it takes me 27 years
to move this body
into your orbit. But the
homecoming feels familiar,
expected, as if I've only
just left and come back having
important, until I wake
crying, begging. I don't want to
return to the cold dark
of space alone. Explaining
I can't bear to spend another
millennium out there, knowing
you may or may not be born,
knowing orbits can change
and I will have to lose you again --
search for you again.
In our bed, you smile. You
kiss each wet ...
I'm about to jump into the canal and pull her to safety when I stop at the edge of the towpath.
What if I do nothing... ?

A deranged man hears voices urging him, "Kill the Doctors!" Masquerading as a patient, he is admitted into a ward at Isleworth General Hospital, a sprawling converted Victorian workhouse directly beneath the flightpath into Heathrow Airport. When he attempts to stab the medical senior registrar during a ward round, slim, slight student-nurse Emma Gibbs intervenes to save the doctor's life.
A patient is murdered on Ward Four: death by suffocation. Detective Superintendent Charles Butter and his sergeant Timothy Gately investigate. No motive is found; the killing appears random.
Next, surgical registrar James Ferusson dies - again by suffocation. All who ever came in contact with him seem to have wanted him dead: two rival Soho criminal gangs, the medical senior registrar Gilmore Cameron (with whom he had previously crossed swords), even Matron. To add to this list, the police discover that another of the hospital's doctors had been an army sniper, responsible for the death of two of ...
The Miracles of Antichrist is a philosophical novel by Selma Lagerlöf. Written as a love story between a young socialist and atheist Gaetano and Donna Micaela who is a Christian, the novel in fact represents author's criticism of socialism. The plot of the novel was inspired by a Sicilian legend: "When Antichrist comes, he shall seem as Christ", and the story centers around the antichrist in the form of a statue that Micaela prays to which seems to perform apparent miracles that are indistinguishable from those of Christ.

After spending better than two decades working in call centers, I cannot help but notice the glaring similarities shared by call centers in North Texas. The pay is rarely close to the industry standard for the frontline call-taker. Most of the call centers I hired into operated like poorly run daycare centers. Those individuals who were well-liked by management rarely found themselves targets of bathroom break micromanagement and the questionable practices and tactics which made Tina Faye's "Mean Girls" so infamously popular. It is important to emphasize the characters in this story are based on real people, and many of the situations are based on real events I personally witnessed. The story, however, is satirical and wholly the product of this author's imagination.

But after years of waning stage work, he eventually gravitates to the more lucrative corporate entertainment world. He becomes the undisputed BuffetHead King, a dubious distinction in the often dodgy realm of convention entertainment.
Bob is a raconteur. He regales anyone in earshot with his entertainment ...

I can't borrow him.
He's not a sweater or a skirt.
He's not even her favorite dress -- the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.
In my defense, I didn't know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn't know who he was before I fell for him, because he can't be mine.

No one wished for war, but when it came it was a call that could not be refused. The Hanoverian government and King George was not to the liking of Scotland. It took them down a path to rebellion which would impact the life of Scots for generations to come.
In 1715 the Earl of Mar raised the banner of rebellion against his King having served in the government of Queen Anne before her successor took to the throne. It was a brave move, but rebellion does not always go the way you expect it to. Even the arrival of King James on Scottish soil could not win this war. In 1715 a young Scottish fisherman joined the fray against his family's wishes and it would change his life and that of his family forever.
So why when rebellion rears its ugly head again in 1745 does his nephews Jamie and Willie Shepherd decide that it is still a worthwhile cause. Only time would tell whether it proves them to be right.
This is the story of a family at war over the Jacobite rebellions of 1715 and 1745. How ...

The novel takes place in the East End of London during the nineteen-fifties. It charts the light-hearted progress of the narrator and his friends through the London Hospital Medical College on their way to becoming doctors. Edwin Scott is slight, fair, naive. He joins the judo society, the ski-club and the badminton club. He participates in the Chrismas Show, the Summer Ball, and attempts the London to Brighton Walk. The mood darkens when the Slasher himself takes up the story, and it becomes clear that a serial killer is loose in Whitechapel, who models his murders on those of Jack the Ripper. The vicarious excitement that sweeps through the medical school turns to fear, as the victims come closer and closer to home, and Edwin realises that the Whitechapel Slasher must be one of his friends.
This is the final novel in the Conquest trilogy that began with Voice of Stone, a story of the Incas just prior to Francisco Pizarro's arrival in Peru. Mirasol, the adopted mestiza daughter of Beatriz, the Spanish adventuress, whose story is told in the second book in the series Conquistadora, flees an unhappy marriage to an arrogant Spaniard after she discovers he is a bigamist. She becomes a powerful abbess at the Convent of Santa Clara where she enjoys the arts and exerts influence upon colonial society in the only sphere open to women in 16th century Cuzco. She fights against subjection of the native people and the conquerors' lust for gold. Intricate family relations continue among her half-brother Fabiano and her sister-in-law Hortensia, which weave a fascinating web of politics, sexual relations and racial prejudices throughout the colony. Mirasol reflects a colonial woman's struggle for independence while at the same asserting the value of indigenous culture in colonial Peru. ...
