The Art of Evil by Roy E. Stolworthy 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

... THE ART OF EVIL deserves five out of five stars. There is nothing to criticise about this action-packed breathtaking novel. The rating is self-explanatory. Professionally edited and polished the action begins on the first page to the last page. The more I read the more I enjoyed this book. Full of plots and twists the fascinating feature of the novel is the fact that all the characters are neither morally perfect nor 100% evil and I was kept worrying whom to trust. Who would die next in a rage of revenge? The heroine of the story, a Rusian Spetnaz officer, sets out to kill the protagonist and ends up in his bed. All in all, this is a brilliant piece of writing Highly recommended. DO NOT MISS THIS FASCINATING STORY. Robert Malin's world with SO15 Counter Terrorist Command ended under the surgeon's scalpel having a brain tumour removed. Until the moment Hans Jacob, a wealthy German industrialist offered him the sum of £250,000 to recover a cross made from six bones of victims of the holocaust at Auschwitz. A sharp-minded and cynical maverick, to recover the bones Malin covers four continents, trapped in a mosaic of treachery created by neo-Nazis. But what secret does the cross holds? Why does he have to turn into a cold-blooded killer to survive and recover the bones? And why are the Russians and MI5 interested in his movements? A NOVEL WITH THE CONSTANT THREATS OF IMMINENT DANGER A READY COMPANION THAT PLACES THE READER AT THE HEART OF THE ACTION.

A deadly influenza pandemic. An escaped convict. A single mother desperate to protect her only child. As the insidious virus cripples society, providence brings two survivors together in an unlikely partnership to survive in a world fraught with chaos. In a small poultry farm located in Delaney, Georgia an antigenic shift causes the H7N9 bird flu virus to jump species. The contagion burns through everything in its path despite the federal government's ham-handed efforts to mask the mutated virus' true nature. Its unprecedented mortality rate paralyzes the nation and paves the way for FEMA's martial law to be established across the country. At a maximum security federal penitentiary south of Tucson, Arizona, Inmate Teddy Sanders' world of structure and routine crumbles to dust, as the virus starts spreading within the confines of the prison. As the virus callously strikes down guards and inmates alike, the administration loses control and Teddy finds himself fighting enemies both old and new. Circumstances force him to form precarious new alliances in order to escape what has effectively become a concrete tomb. Meanwhile, fifty miles away from the penitentiary, a young woman named Jane risks it all to keep her young son Danny safe in a residential tower in the heart of downtown Tucson. Surrounded by armed looters and desperate survivors, Jane ventures out on her own to forage for supplies. The Turn by Matthew Tysz 3.9 Stars (35 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

"They say the end of the world began when the president of the United States shot himself on national television... " This is the first of three books currently available. The series will ultimately consist of five novels. Before I get into what the story is about specifically, I want to let you know off the bat that this is a niche story: this entry novel into a dark mythological world consists of a crushingly dark and hopeless atmosphere, and is governed by characters who themselves are no white knights; they are wanderers trying to make sense out of a confusing world. To read the first entry of this series is like walking through a dark forest, with noises echoing from untraceable sources, shapes forming in the branches that look like something other than what they are, and all manner of things appearing out of nowhere. As the series continues, the forest opens up, and the characters begin to find agency in this new world. There is slavery in this story, and implications of all forms of abuse (though sexual abuse is never explicitly described). The main characters are flawed to a fault; some may argue an unforgivable fault. There is no hero in this story, at least not in this opening entry to the series. This first book is somber, depressing, and bizarre. However, nihilism is not the overall theme of the series: quite the opposite, in fact. On to the subject of the story... The series begins two years after an event which rendered the world geographically unrecognizable and left less than ten percent of the population alive. Scholar, one of the two main characters, was lazing in his basement apartment when the event actually happened, so the details of this event are unknown to him, because nobody wants to talk about it. The second main character is Ashley. He is a former Wall Street playboy who has learned how to adapt physically and psychologically to the new world. But he wants to get out of survival mode and see the world, motivated by a deep and ...

The Secrets of Water by Wendy Nelson-Sinclair (Cannonball River Books, LLC.) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 6 hours ago

From internationally selling author, Wendy Nelson-Sinclair, comes a modern story that shines a light on a heartbreaking secret buried for well over a century. A series of envelopes are suddenly placed in Lizzie Bennett's hands. Immediately, Lizzie finds herself at the center of a mystery and within hours, she uncovers an unknown secret about her favorite author. Edith Blackwell is a reclusive English spinster whose writing is the polar opposite of what is known about her life. Described as a mixture of Virginia Woolf and Edgar Allan Poe, Edith Blackwell's inner landscape is far more complex, romantic, and dangerous than her reality. After her death by suicide, Edith's rumored final novel, The Secrets of Water, was never found in its entire form. That is until it mysteriously lands in Lizzie's hands. By following the trail, Lizzie comes to learn the truth of Edith's personal life, but also comes to grips with the truths of her own life, especially her complicated relationship with Sebastian Sanders, the man she loves. With Sebastian in tow, Lizzie journeys across the wide Atlantic to Northern England only to find herself on an adventure that dispels long-held myths, uncovers long-buried truths, and reveals Edith's life to be vastly different from the one known to history. As Lizzie searches for the truth, she comes to understand that her own story is far different from the one she's always been told.

Therigatha - Book of Verses of Elder Bhikkhunis: Free Download on July 15 and 31, August 15 and 31, and September 15 by Anagarika Mahendra (Dhamma Publishers) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 3 hours ago

The present book, Ther?g?th?, belongs to the P??i Tipi?aka, the authorized recension for Therav?da. Ther?g?th? is perhaps unique in the world spiritual literature in that it contains verses exclusively by liberated women, and is likely the earliest such compendium. The Elder Bhikkhunis (ther? in P??i), whose verses (g?th?) and spontaneous utterances are collected herein, represent a cross-section of the contemporary Indian society: here we find princesses and paupers, socialites and peasants, teens and senior citizens, single and married, reputable housewives and courtesans, high-class society and down-trodden ones, mothers with children and mothers who have lost children, disputation experts and quiet ones - singing songs of joy and gratitude; and extolling the Buddha, Dhamm?, and Sa?gh?. And the thing that unites them all? They all realized the ultimate - the cessation of lust, hate, and delusion; the liberation; the end of the cycle of becoming. The verses themselves are so powerful that they can be used as a subject of meditation to reflect on the sufferings inherent in the round of existence and generate the desire to be free. In this book, both P??i originals and English translations are provided so it's easier for those who want to learn P??i or just read the translations. A full P??i-English Glossary, detailed Endnotes, and other indices will help the interested reader to learn more about the elder bhikkhunis, their circumstances, and their strivings.

But psychic's not acceptable in her circle, where the supernatural is strictly for the superstitious. Yet... people close to her are dying. Kate's attempts to discuss her new-found metaphysical gift are met with eye rolls; she can't even tell the Scotland Yard detective who's investigating the death of a close friend, Rebecca Williams. And now Rebecca's neighbor has an aura. DOUBLE BLIND Two politicians have the death-predicting auras Kate can see. The only way to get to the two pols is via her old friend, DCI Clarke; yet her warnings go unheeded, and even her best friend, Anita, refuses to believe in the auras' existence -- even when one appears over her boss. And then Anita develops her own aura. THE FLORENTINE CYPHER What began as a quiet dinner date with an old childhood friend turns into a manhunt when ...

Excellent character development and plotting move a fast-paced adventure tale through enough action to please readers of all ages." - Book Reviewer From #1 best-selling epic fantasy author, Julius St. Clair, comes the trilogy that started it all: THE LAST OF THE SAGES: THE COMPLETE FIVE KINGDOMS TRILOGY (BOOKS 1-3). The Gun and Its Development by W. W. Greener (Skyhorse) 4.6 Stars (14 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

First published in Great Britain in 1881 and subsequently revised nine times between then and 1910, The Gun and Its Development traces the fascinating history of weaponry: the obscure, ancient origins of the slingshot and the bow, the invention of the crossbow, possibly around 1000 AD; the introduction of gunpowder into Europe in the fourteenth century; the development of sporting and military guns over the centuries thereafter; and the rise of modern, mass-produced firearms in the early twentieth century. Chapters cover early to modern handguns; gunpowder ignition methods from fuses and flintlocks to percussion fulminates; shotguns; hammerless guns; ejector guns; the history of the firearms industry; manufacturing methods and their development in Britain, America, and elsewhere; how to use and handle different types of guns; ballistics; the development of rifling and smokeless powder; and much more. Copiously illustrated with photographs and marvelous engravings, The Gun and Its Development is the classic, authoritative reference work on the subject, certain to be of great interest to marksmen, hunters, gun collectors, and anyone interested in military or industrial history.

The Apocalypse Crusade War of the Undead Day One: A Zombie Tale by Peter Meredith by Peter Meredith 4.3 Stars (446 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

In an apocalypse there is definitely a beginning where mistakes are made and the seeds of evil are allowed to sprout and take shape. However, an end is not so certain. Once an Apocalypse occurs not even death is certain. Sometimes death is only the beginning. At first light that morning, Dr Lee steps into the Walton facility on the initial day of human trials; she can barely contain her excitement. The labs are brand spanking new and everything is sharp and clean. They've been built to her specifications and are, without a doubt, a scientist's dream. Yet even better than the gleaming instruments is the fact that Walton is where cancer is going to be cured once and for all. It's where Dr. Lee is going to become world famous... only she doesn't realize what she's going to be famous for. By midnight of that first day, Walton is a place of fire, of blood and of death, a death that, like the Apocalypse, is seemingly never ending. What readers say about The Apocalypse Crusades: "DO NOT pick this up until you are ready to commit to an all-night sleep-defying read!" "WAY OUT WICKED" "... full of suspense and intrigue, love, both innocent and romantic, hate, both blinding and unnatural, non-stop action, and a very real gripping and palpable fear."

All the martial artists wanted was to earn a spot in history. Some blended in the crowd, and some didn't. Some worked their way to the top and some became nothing but heaps of dust on the ground. Some were born into riches and jewels, and some were born with nothing but a strong mind and a great talent, like Zen Luo. However, when he saw just how unfair the world was, he couldn't stay put and set out on a journey towards greatness, with only two goals in mind: To witness the world from the very peak of martial arts and to provide a safe and happy future to the people he cared about. Falling from nobility, Zen Luo became a humble slave and served as a human punchbag for his former cousins. Inadvertently, he found a way to refine himself into a weapon and a legend started because of that. With a strong belief in never surrender, he strove for revenges and pursued big dreams. Warriors from various clans contended for hegemony and the world was stirred. Relying on the body that was comparable to a powerful weapon, Zen beat his numerous enemies on his way to the immortality. Would he succeed eventually?

While Homer's existence as a historical person is still a topic of debate, the writings attributed to the name have made their mark not only on Greek history and literature, but upon western civilization itself. Homer's epic poems, The Iliad and The Odyssey, laid the foundation upon which Ancient Greece developed not only its culture, but its societal values, religious beliefs, and practice of warfare as well.

Lost in the Crowd by M.J. Santley 4.5 Stars (22 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

M.J. Santley is a man whose problems stem half from unlucky twists of fate and half from his own truly, intensely, absurdly inexplicable knack for wandering into trouble. In this, his first novel, he travels the world in search of love, the meaning of life, and his drunk and disorderly brother. Lost in the Crowd is an engaging, humorous, and sometimes poignant autobiographical story that will have you feeling as though you are right there with the author - laughing, crying, and stumbling through all the ups and downs of his amazing, hard-to-believe, often hilarious, crazy, heartwarming journey through life - a journey that recurrently seems to be influenced by mysterious forces beyond his control and understanding. The book is defined by events that occurred in the author's life during the two years it was being written. These events bring the book to life and give it a whole new meaning - a meaning that could never have been envisaged when the writing started in October 2015. It has been described as a brilliantly compelling quirky book of inspiration, coincidence, love, luck, loss, life, chance, opportunism, emotion, comedy, stupidity, amazement, danger, worry, survival, happiness, laughter, and WTF! Wee, Wicked Whispers: Collected Short Stories 2008 - 2009 by Stephen Donald Huff (Capital Ideations, LLC) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Calamity often follows a violent shout, but we have more to fear from the occasional wee, wicked whisper. This is the medium of humanity's most despicable tongue, for a quick whisper is the requisite mode of lies, the self-serving gloat of torment, the insidious confidence of slander, and the preferred protocol of psychosis. Lovers reveal their most intimate and personal secrets on a breathless hiss, while murderous psychopaths use the same hushed voice to lure intended victims. Listen to the wicked whispers of vain success in "Ravenous Is the Void" and "She Comes, the Devil". Voyage into the surreal with "Eidetic", "The Machine's Manifesto", "Ed? Is That You?", "The Wrong Side of Backwards", "Paw Paw Conjures", and "We are for Texas". Satisfy your science fiction 'sweet tooth' with "The Violent Kind", "Emerald Planet", "The Hole", "Long Is the Journey, Short Is the Sojourn" and "Zu-Zu's Petals", before you travel into the past through "Toltaca" and "Forever Comes the Storm". When you catch your breath, try to shake off the chills emanating from "The House Next Door", "Scraps", "Mortimer's Last Race", "Shit", "The Disturbing Case of: Rain", "A Working Man", "Through the Meadows Go", "Jo-Jo's Big Day", "Vengeance Is Mine", and "Black River".

Miranda's Game by Jacqueline Henry 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Julia Hawkins; arrogant, haughty, pretentious, self-entitled, alcoholic. Hostage. Robert Hawkins, Julia's adult son; sociopath, nut job, unstable, twisted sense of humour. Hates his mother with a vengeance. Hostage. Errol Hawkins; District Court Judge with a soft touch approach. He's learning what it's like to be the victim. Miranda; abandoned twice by the justice system and now she's had enough... Fifteen years ago, Miranda walked home from school to find her parents slain on the living room floor. There was a lot of blood. It shook a screw loose in Miranda's brain and she's been suffering from a debilitating agoraphobia ever since. The young, first-time offender was handed a mere five-year sentence. He was still young; he could be rehabilitated and hopefully go on to lead a useful life in society. Miranda was the one to serve the long-term incarceration, imprisoned inside her fear and anxiety of a world that terrified her, shutting herself off, becoming more and more dependent on her younger brother Mitchell. Until Mitchell was killed by a drunk driver. Judge Errol Hawkins, living his elite life, breathing his rarefied air, untouched by the dirt and grime of those nasty suburbs. Errol Hawkins is a soft touch judge. He believes in rehabilitation; he's just given the drunk driver eighteen months. Now Miranda is all alone. Now she has to enter a world she hasn't navigated for nearly two decades because now she has to fend for herself, because now she's got a debt to pay - and it's not the electricity bill. Miranda thinks about Judge Hawkins a lot, wonders if he's ever been touched by loss and grief, wonders how he would cope if he lost something he loved, even just for a little while. Revenge, under the right circumstances, can be a great relief for grief and it's just the medicine Miranda needs to pull her back into the world. But these thoughts, they're only daydreams, something to keep her mind busy. And this plan she has forming, it's just a game, ...

Code Name Rebecca 65 (Secret Warfare & Counter-terrorism Operations Book 44) by George M James 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Code Name Rebecca 65 touches on what many will consider to be conspiracy theories. But I am not known to write anything that I cannot substantiate. It is not my concern, nor do I care, who you choose to serve as your God. These are your private beliefs but you ought not to be lied to when you make that choice. Yet you are lied to. What I found out during my research and what is denied, is beyond belief. This is the most important GMJ Book written to date. This is the one that gives the greatest warning - that the US and UK are under Vatican control. That the leaders of the free world are bowing to the Pope. And that the Vatican serves Satan, aka, Lucifer or the devil. This book will connect the dots to reveal that there is a direct link between the Occult, Cabalism, and Terrorism. The occult symbols are everywhere and can be found in terrorism and in cults as well as in every single Roman Catholic Cathedral / Church, and in ALL official emblems and insignia, including the official seals of the CIA, NATO, MI5, US Navy, US DOD, FEMA, FBI as well as on all the seals and flags of all Governments and the UN, yes, in all of them. It is by design as is the design of Washington DC forming a Freemason pentagram which is an occult sign to signal obedience to Satan. For the USA it started right at the beginning with the Confession of British Army General Cornwallis to General George Washington at Yorktown. For Great Britain, it started with the murder of Thomas Becket. This was followed by the Compromise of Avranches and King John's Concession. We explain who is controlling US Foreign Policy and that all the highest leaders / Presidents / Prime Ministers are part of either Freemasonry or the Knights of Malta. Both Roman Catholic Orders. There is a universal language developed in the form of symbols and symbolism that is a code or a secret language. Here we explain the said code, we broke it and we can read it and it leads to the Vatican. Biblically though, it started with ...

Gal: A Mother's Vengeance by Terrance Watkins 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 6 hours ago

The world has changed. After Dr. Julian Morrison had a breakthrough and discovered the cure for all known diseases, the people began to shift towards him. His popularity and influence over the world, propelled him to the white house, where he would strip apart the ways of the old government and bring in its place a regime that follows one man and a group of extraordinary individuals. They called this the Highest Regime, and the individuals were held under the New House. Siennagal Brayker is just a regular, struggling woman from the city of Brennan. She makes it day by day as a freelance mechanic, living with her roommate Collette, a failing actress and model. Life is hard, and each day feels worse than the last, with bills constantly piling up, and food always being an issue. Siennagal saw herself as having absolutely nothing in her life that makes it worthwhile, until the day she became someone else. As Sienna, she had a chance meeting with the Highest, and her fantasy life enticed him into an affair she never thought she would have, leading to feelings of love she never thought she would feel. That love created an unexpected opportunity that Sienna couldn't ignore, and Siennagal couldn't believe. That opportunity brought her to a confrontation with Julian Morrison, and his wife, Mercurie, leading to a fatal event that could be seen as either cruelty, or karma. The life Siennagal once knew is over, and the fantasy of Sienna has been broken in pieces. What's left is something unrecognizable and filled with hate. Something that has been ripped apart, and put back together. An instrument with only one goal: to make right the wrong that has been done to her. What is left is a strong fire of vengeance. What remains, is Gal. Gal is a testament to what strong will can achieve, and how a mother's love is eternal. It has action, thrills, and will keep you invested from beginning to end, while wondering about the blurred line between vengeance and revenge.
