Recollections of corrections, beginning with recollections of birthday spankings: being five years old and being over her daddy's knee giggling while being spanked: play spankings traditionally given children on their birthdays. Pats, play---not pain: birthday spankings are a loving reminder of correction being a part of love. no one cries over a birthday spanking, they're fun, part of being the special boy or girl for the day---You can even run away from a birthday spanking and not be in trouble!

Spankings, paddlings, corporal punishments are tools: not bad, not good, not right, not wrong---tools. Used correctly, a hammer can drive a nail. Used incorrectly, it can bruise a thumb.
