The Signature of All Things by Jacob Boehme (Blackmore Dennett) 3.4 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified one hour ago

Jacob Boehme's mystical pantheism and dialectical conception of God - in which good and evil are rooted in one and the same being - soon brought him into conflict with Lutheran orthodoxy. It is in 'The Signature of all Things' (Signatura Rerum) that the tenets of Boehme's theosophy are related in their greatest detail. Casting the reader into the vortex of his cosmological universe, Boehme's endeavour to express a new sense of the human, divine and natural realms attains its apotheosis in his conception of the Ungrund, the uncertainty that precedes the divine will's arousing itself to self-awareness.

As Soon As I Fell: A Memoir by Kay Bruner 4.7 Stars (178 Reviews)    Price verified one hour ago

What happens when being radical for God brings you to the edge of disaster? When Kay Bruner and her husband, Andy, took their young family to live on an island in the South Pacific, she found the purposeful, adventurous life she'd hoped for -- along with isolated living, dangerous sea travel, tropical illnesses, and a floundering marriage. As they worked on a Bible translation project with a local language group, Kay sank into burnout and depression while Andy medicated his stress with a pornography addiction. Stepping back from the brink required a radical reinvention of life, from a ministry and marriage built on high performance and spiritual heroism, to a nourishing daily walk of grace, freedom, and intimate connection. This is a story about going to extremes for spiritual acceptability and failing dismally, only to find that love and grace transcend failure. For anyone who's ever asked, "When will I be good enough for love?" This book resoundingly answers: "Right now. You are loved, right this minute, in this mess." While few of us will live on a tiny island in the South Pacific, many of us will find hope and healing in this story of a painful fall into the arms of love.

A Commentary on the Epistle to the Ephesians, Chapter Five by James Thomas Lee Jr 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 45 minutes ago

The first part of this book begins with Paul's final days of freedom before being arrested in Jerusalem. The timeframe would have been at the end of his third Bible-recorded missionary journey. He had been returning to that area so that he could attend the upcoming celebration of Pentecost. He had also gone there to take some financial aid to the church in Jerusalem. While there, he had participated in a Nazarite ritual with four men that had taken a vow. Following that ritual, he had gone to the synagogue with those same four men. But as soon as some of the Jewish people from Asia had seen him, they immediately had accused him and had attacked him. Given the opportunity, they probably would have killed him right there on the spot. But the Roman chief captain in Jerusalem had intervened by taking him into custody. However, even though he had only been taken from the crowd for his own protection, Paul had then remained in custody for most of the next four or five years. While under Roman control, he had appeared before Procurator Felix, Procurator Festus, and King Agrippa. Then he had been sent to Rome to where he had appeared before Caesar Augustus. Towards the end of his imprisonment in Rome, he had written a letter to each of the three churches in Philippi, Colosse, and Ephesus, respectively. He had also written a letter to a man named Philemon. While the exact order of those letters is not known with absolute certainty, the best evidence will be presented to determine when he had probably written each one. Then, because of their similarities to each other, a comparison of his letters to the churches in Colosse and Ephesus will be shared. Once those matters have been handled, certain parts of Paul's specific letter to the church at Ephesus will be carefully examined. First, Ephesians 4:24-32 will be discussed as an introduction to Ephesians, chapter five. Then each verse of the fifth chapter will be considered. The fifth chapter is especially important because ...

Hiking Life's Difficult Trails: A Spiritual Journey (Hiking the Trail of Truth Book 2) by Mark Stephen Taylor (Createspace) 5.0 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified 45 minutes ago

Hiking Life's Difficult Trails is a spiritual journey -- an arduous challenge. This particular journey is much better suited to those who have learned to live with remorse -- who have earned it through a broad diversity of loss, pain and suffering. There are those who in time develop what it takes to negotiate difficult terrain in life, and there are those who do not. Yet to have what it takes has only one requirement -- humility. We all fail in one way or another each day. Admit it or not, we just can't seem to attain perfection. We usually blame God for our inability to live as we should, but them praise Him when He allows things to get a little better. We just can't seem to find a way to be content in our circumstances, and be thankful for both the good ones and the bad ones. But, the bottom line is, we actually have some profound misunderstandings -- about life, about circumstances, and about God himself. It's time once again to hike along with award-winning author Mark Stephen Taylor. In this second volume, he takes us back to the wilderness trail -- not just to hike along its rim, but to explore its depths -- to hike up its buttes, among its sharp crags, and into its areas of parched desolation. Mr. Taylor helps us to better understand the difficulties of this earthly life, and leads us along a most profound trail of discovery, illumination, and hope. Hiking is indeed great therapy. So, what are you waiting for? C'mon along -- let's do it!

She can remember as far back as the age of 3 years old. She remembers being often beaten by her sister and having her fingers burned atop a gas stove as punishment. On the outside, she was an average little girl. But on the inside, she struggled with an addiction. When she was ten years old, her mother died suddenly, leaving her alone in the world and feeling like nobody loved her. Growing up, she was verbally and emotionally abused by the man who should have been her protector. The combination of a growing sexual addiction and her desperate need to feel loved led to years of promiscuity. She sought fulfillment in sex, partying, and working in a strip club. She had always been a church girl, attending Sunday services and Bible Study during the week, but it wasn't until she began to read the Word of God that she began to feel convicted of the life she was living. Eventually, she got tired of the never-ending cycles of getting hurt and hurting others. She grew tired of the emptiness she felt after meaningless sex. She gave her life to Christ, and in Him, she found freedom, healing, and purpose. She is me.

"You are the source of the higher self." Set aside 30 minutes minimum for this phase of the exercise. Look at the sentence directly above - "You are the source of the higher self" - and note any reactions you may have in response. Do you agree or disagree? If you disagree, upon what do you base your disagreement? Simply look at the statement for what it is and pay close attention to your reactions. For at least 30 minutes, consider any belief systems you may have which crop up as a result. The purpose of this exercise is to identify any lingering programs that may be standing in the way of your own evolution. Many times in working with warriors even at advanced levels, I have discovered that there are strong programs in effect which may try to convince us that this mortal lifetime is nothing more than a virtual reality program running for our amusement. I've had good warriors try to argue that we are all already perfect, or that no matter what we do, the spirit walks away unscathed at the end. If you find yourself operating under any such belief system, or if you experienced any sense of anger or otherwise strong disagreement to the statement, ask yourself one question: "What if I am wrong?" * * * Opening the mind begins with ...

The Suffering Servant: The Sermon Series #1 by John R. Hargrove Price verified 28 minutes ago

The prophecies in the Old Testament speak of two different appearances of the Messiah. So much so that rabbis have considered the possibility of two separate Messiahs. But that is not how it is. Jesus, the Jewish Messiah has two separate comings to earth. The first time He came to pay the penalty for our sins. The second time He will come as King of the universe. The reason for the first coming is that there can be no sin in the presence of God the Father. So Jesus came to take our sin on His body and die for it. Belief in Him purifies the soul. This is best shown in Isaiah 53, which explains how religious men sought to destroy Jesus because He claimed to be the Messiah -- the one who would come to take away our sins and give us His righteousness. Bible scholar, John R. Hargrove, walks you through Isaiah 53 to show you step by step how Jesus arrived as a servant, not a king. John also includes stories about Jesus, showing that no one but Jesus could do the works of God on earth. You are invited to read this study by the late John R. Hargrove, who loved the Bible as much as he loved life.

Breaking Through the Barrier of Time: Tales of Those Who Have Entertained Visions, Visionaries, and Visitors from the Future (Paranormal and ... by Conrad Bauer (Maplewood Publishing) Price verified one hour ago

Time travel is an idea as old as humanity. Wouldn't it be great to go back in time or visit the future at will? Some claim they can but is this true or just fiction? Time. The innocuous ticking of the clock is a constant reminder of how quickly it passes, and most of us can't seem to find enough of it. We try our best to squeeze more hours out of a 24-hour day, but we remain forever fixed within those finite parameters. But what if there was a way to free ourselves from the bounds of time? What if there was a way to move beyond the strict confines of the clock and experience past and future realities at will? The concept of time travel is always going to be a controversial one. Critics insist that it is fraught with paradoxes and inconsistencies. And perhaps they're right. But even if time travel is impossible, what about seeing into the future? There have been prophets, seers, and visionaries all over the world who have claimed such clairvoyance for centuries. Were they all elaborate frauds? In this book, we will examine the veracity of such claims as we tell the tales of those who have supposedly entertained visions, visionaries, even visitors from the future. So, whether you are a true believer or a skeptic at heart, withhold your judgment for a moment as we escape the incessant ticking of the clock to look back at those who say they've looked far, far forward.
