In a war far into the future, two young refugees, orphaned by insurgent violence on their home planet, flee behind the lines to make a new life for themselves. But when the turmoil they sought to escape beats them to their new home, thirteen year old Jessica Ratcliff must find peace for her small family while learning the true difference between friend and enemy.
Originally published as a short story in Satirica: An Anthology of Satirical Speculative Fiction, 2008 (ISBN=0981685307), and now reformatted and published separately as a novella, this fast-moving story lays open some of the disturbing impacts of war on the children who live it.

After it became obvious that Another Man's Terrorist wasn't a fit for Jim Baen's Universe, anthropologist Roy Dudgeon PhD (now going by the pen name Shayala Knight), who had read it in the slush forum, invited me to submit a story for his Satirica project. I submitted two stories, but Another Man's Terrorist was the one that he chose for inclusion in the anthology, in spite of the fact that the length bordered on a novella and exceeded his guidelines severely. It ended up occupying roughy 10% of the pages of that book of 24 stories. Ironically, the controversial subject matter that turned off the editors at Baen's Bar made Another Man's Terrorist a better fit for the hard-edged tone of Satirica.
I had (cover illustrator Chelsea Conlin) read Another Man's Terrorist, and pretty much let her pick the scene for the first poster... the one that graces the cover of this eBook. Here is what she said about the shuttleport scene:
