At the heart of the Church's power and authority is a disciplined army of divinely gifted warriors known as shepherds. Blessed with considerable supernatural and paranormal powers, the shepherds utilize both the physical and intellectual elements of the universe to serve and defend the gods... and I was unwillingly destined to join them.
When I was a boy, my mother and sister were murdered by the Church of Telshakra, and, not long after that, the Church came for me, too. An imperfect hero for an imperfect time. For generations, the Riker men have been the best of the best. For the Battleborn that comes with a cost.
I had to give the other guy credit. That was a fine right hook. Every bit as good as my mom used to give me. Of course, the best right hooks were the ones I landed on the other guy rather than the ones the other guy landed on me. My dear departed mother had always taught me it was better to give than receive. It's unlikely that her cherished advice was meant to apply to bar fights, but then, she wasn't a big fan of bars or fights in general. I spit out the blood in my mouth.
My name is Tad Riker. I serve as a tactical weapons officer for the Wolves, but I was raised by the Stallions. The poor unfortunate reprobate, who was even now feeling the wrath of my fist, was serving as an armorer for the Stallions. That's why I took this fight so personally... not that he was an armorer, but that he was a Stallion.

The fine folks of Blastborn have just had their first murder in over 200 years and some say it's a precursor to war. Arabeth thinks it's bigger.
A simple problem should have a simple solution. Working as a bail enforcement Tracker in order to have someone test her gadgets crosses no ethical lines, as far as Arabeth is concerned.
Besides, she can't be the only one who sees the threat at hand. An automaton has invaded their peaceful little city, and an invisible force has turned its citizens against each other causing deadly acts of violence.
When her cousin is murdered, Arabeth becomes determined to track down the hand behind this unprecedented violence. Calling in family favours and using her status to persuade gatekeepers isn't something she is comfortable with, but no one else sees what she sees. Plans for catching an unseen assailant are hard to explain and harder for others to accept.
If she doesn't, no one is safe, but if she does, she may have to marry the next man her highborn parents throw at her. Society would rather see her fail. Still in her mid-twenties, the only way to keep her independence is to fight for it, and the only way to do that is to prove she's just fine on her own, thank you very much. If they push it, she'll marry Sam.
Her best friend since childhood, Samuel Hicks, is a Police Detective who has learned to trust her hunches. Refusing to let her walk into this danger alone, he insists they team up. Trust isn't easy for either of them, despite their history, or perhaps because of it.
Together they'll attempt to solve a mystery that's turning the people of her city into cold-blooded killers. What they discover is much worse.
This is book one in the Arabeth Barnes series.

This 2013 edition of the novel includes a short section about the writing of Where Seagulls Fly.
There have been a number of glowing reviews of this novel, including on BBC Radio Cornwall and in the popular magazine Cornwall Today. Following is the review given by the HIstorical Novel Society:
'A story of faith, trust, and hope, Where Seagulls Fly is an evocative gem of a novel. As quiet and unassuming as the monks who live in its setting of St. Michael's Mount in 13th-century Cornwall, this story of friendship and one man's patient struggle to find a place in life slowly envelops the reader in its finely drawn characters and setting. The transformation of the main character, a man tormented for so long that the only name he remembers is Beast, is at the heart of the novel. On his arrival at the monastery, he is shy and silent, feared by all the monks save Brother Elwin. As Elwin coaxes the outcast from his shell, the Beast finally finds a sense of love and security in his life, only to be threatened anew by both his past and the suspicions of others. While the characters are compelling and the plot satisfying, the novel's setting is truly unforgettable. From the monastery gardens beloved by Brother Elwin to the tide pools left in the Mount's rocky beaches, author Edwin Page does a wonderful job of bringing this isolated bit of ...

That's when he finds himself at the centre of a struggle that spans more than one planet. And the outcome will affect the very survival of all that's left of the human race.

in a world full of immortals, someone has to die!
"Downfall" is book #1 in the Systemic series.
Something terrible is breeding in the mountains of northwest China... a virus so infectious, its symptoms so overwhelming that its mortality rate is almost absolute. The "Su flu" as it eventually becomes known, quickly ravages the body of its host, killing it within just days, and worse yet, it's gone airborne. Just weeks after making its appearance on the world stage - the earth's population held as its captive audience - the virus has taken that stage and annihilated nearly all its spectators.
Writer and stay-at-home dad John Stevens never considered himself a "prepper" like the ones he'd seen on television. Just a regular guy, married to a regular girl, with a wonderful two-year-old son, life in the suburbs of Chicago is good, and John and his family are living the American dream... that is, until the Su flu strikes.
With mankind suddenly gripped by the worst pandemic in history, will the foresight that led John to prepare some emergency supplies and an evacuation plan be enough for him and his family to survive not just this deadly virus but the chaos that ensues? Or will they succumb to the renegade lawlessness that has turned much of humanity's remnants into a vicious, scavenging, do-anything-to-survive populace?
As John and his family search for some semblance of the world they once knew, they'll discover just what they're willing to do to survive in a grueling post-pandemic world.

THEY HAVE RETURNED... AND THE DANGER WITH THEM.
Seventeen-year-old Jeremy Grant is worried. His uncle, Dr Lachlan McKinnon is marooned on the wandering 'lost planet' of Hesikos and there's been no word from the spaceship that has gone to rescue him. When at last a message arrives, the news is as bad as it could possibly be: the rescue mission has crash-landed on the planet!
The only way to rescue Dr McKinnon and the other astronauts is to launch another atomic spacecraft that can reach Hesikos before food supplies run out. But first they have to find someone who can build one...
The new ship's crew are no experts in spaceflight, but, against the odds, they manage to reach the planet. In spite of his misadventures, Dr MacKinnon isn't ready to go home yet. He is convinced that he has seen signs that Hesikos was once inhabited, and he believes there may still be life here. He convinces Jeremy and the other crew members to set off to explore the planet...
In the adventures that follow, the explorers will face death more than once, will discover the answers to the mysterious signs of life on Hesikos, and will find that the future of the whole planet hangs in the balance...
Return to the Lost Planet is the second in MacVicar's series of six thrilling science fiction adventure tales about Hesikos, filled with trials and tribulations, wonder and calamity.
Praise for Angus MacVicar:
'Absorbing science fiction' Kirkus Reviews
Angus MacVicar was an accomplished Scottish author, screenwriter and playwright who published work in a variety of genres. Earlier in his career he was known for his crime thrillers and autobiography, but his early writing was interrupted by his service as a captain in the Royal Scots Fusiliers, which meant that most of his juvenile science fiction was not published until after World War II. It was then that his 'Lost Planet' series became extremely popular, with MacVicar himself adapting the stories as TV and radio serials.
The world is for those who were born to conquer it. They were just born elsewhere.
A chosen few found themselves in another world where magic is real.
Deemed the Otherworlders by the inhabitants of this foreign realm, the Otherworlders were granted powers that ascended them beyond even what this dark world of beasts and sorcery would consider normal.
With no explanation or purpose for why they were given such gifts, some Otherworlders decided to treat the world as their playground...
Some searched for their place...
... While others let their ambitions pave their paths.
Neither this world's salvation or doom, nor protectors or foes, nevertheless their presence will irreversibly rewrite the fate of the Otherworld.
Season 1 of Chronicles of the Otherworld follows the tales of Tay, Camilla, and Robert.

This book is written in British English. This means you will find lots of u's, extra l's, s's instead of z's, towards instead of toward, and no doubt other strange spellings.
**This book contains mild violence and content which some readers may find triggering.**
***Edited and re-uploaded on the 11th April 2019.***
"This book will capture you by the heart, tug, and squeeze you in this breathtaking novella."
"Aveline is much more than a damsel running away from distress.
Aeolius isn't the epic sidekick aiding the sweet heroine.
Herveus is definitely not your swashbuckling hero.
Although these names would sound gibberish to you if you haven't touched The Bound, Connor makes sure that predictability isn't either of the character's characteristics. So if you're looking for a set of honestly intriguing characters in a real quest, with shadows of threats lurking around, a heart clenching background for each character - you've reached the right place."
"The Bound is a lively tale set in medieval times with knights and dragons. The main character is realistically vulnerable yet brave. She develops a strong bond with a charismatic dragon. I love the way the author switches points of view to ensure that the main characters each get their share of action and backstory. This was a delightful novella and I'm glad ...

The Days After The Music Died is a Dystopian novel about a post EMP world. A family struggles to escape the madness that is burning the cities and reach a refuge they established on a Mississippi River island.
October second appeared to have the makings of a nice day even though Richard Erickson wouldn't be able to enjoy much of it. He would soon be starting a twelve hour shift in the Emergency Room at San Francisco County Hospital. The young man would complete his medical internship in eleven months.
Richard's day began at seven, when he showered, dressed, and stopped by Mickey D's for breakfast. By the time he reached the Bay Bridge, the sun was breaking through the fog, and the Oldies Rock on his special playlist had just finished Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue".
Halfway through his second cup of coffee, with the stereo now playing Richi Valens "La Bamba", Richard felt that life was good. As he approached the Treasure Island exit, the Tahoe died, along with the stereo. Taking a quick look at the gas gauge, he saw the whole panel was dead. Coasting to the curb, he noticed that his car was not the only one stopped. Nothing was moving."Oh Shit. its really hit the fan!" he exclaimed.
A quick check of his iPhone revealed that it too was dead.
Richard opened the door and stepped out. A man in a Tesla jumped out as smoke burst from under the hood.
"What the hell is going on?" He demanded.
Richard answered. "I think we got hit by an EMP attack."
"What does that mean?"
"It means the end of the world as we know it. I suggest you get home any way you can. It will be bad everywhere, with no power, water, or food."
The man looked unconvinced. He then looked over to his burning car. Without a word, he started toward the off ramp.
A light flew in front of Frank's face, but not long enough to get a good look at before it zigzagged away. Its shape had been almost human. Frank looked at Lucas for a long time before asking, "Please tell me that was a firefly."
"That would make it the biggest, fastest damn firefly I've ever seen." Lucas replied. Neither of them wanted to say the word "fairy."
Power outages are effecting much of the country. Computers, cell phones and radios are erratically unreliable. The scientific community is at a loss to explain any of it.
When Frank and Lucas stumble on a man claiming to be an ancient wizard, they are told that the world of science is a construction of a magical spell which has now been damaged. That is why technology is faltering. Now they must choose how to handle this knowledge - if they even believe it - while the wizard tries to repair the spell.
