Psychedelic Hero's Journey of a Traveling Nobody by Traveling Nobody 4.2 Stars (8 Reviews)    Price verified 53 minutes ago

Follow a "nobody" of the cosmic flux through Joseph Campbell's "hero's journey," propelled by the unconscious embodiment of a disastrous, left-brained, materialist mindset. Material estrangement from the natural reflects in the "Mystery's Mirror" (the cosmos, reality) to begin the domino effect that leads this traveler astray and to inevitable destruction via heartbreak. Heeding the "Call to Adventure," ensuing reconstitution of the self fuels the exploration as to the "why" of such a calamity. Such a process brings this "nobody" to a more comprehensive understanding of that which "is." Replete with illuminations from the divine feminine dimension of the planet's plant and fungal teachers, a naturalistic ever-shifting philosophy emerges combining the "immediacy of direct psychedelic experience" (Terence McKenna), Buddhism, Hinduism, and Natural Law mechanics via Hermeticism. What is existence? What is consciousness? What is happening outside culturally partitioned values and the material five-sense world? From the perspective of a reporting "tabula rasa explorer," the search is for that which "is," that which we "are" (humanity), and "where to go from there" via active voyage to shamanic digital dimensions beyond language. As we are all imbued with the ethereal flowing elixir of consciousness, it "checks out" to "check it out." Join this cosmic "traveling nobody" through his awakening from egoic material slumber to conscious cell of the Infinite Universal Mysterious Organism.

We hope you enjoy the book! "Smart, witty, funny, painful, honest, brutal, forgiving. Truly amazing and left me wanting more!" "This was laugh-out-loud funny and relatable. I felt like I was reading my best friend's diary." -- Amazon Five Star Reviews Maddy Quinn survived being a fat kid and a fat adolescent, but being fat in her twenties is too much. Maddy is a smart, funny, chunky monkey living in a world of skinnies with only an XXL sweater set to keep her safe. Living at home, Maddy attends a nearby university where she majors in Political Science and Not Being Noticed. Her mother would return her to the womb for safekeeping if only there was room for a 266 1/2 lb. adult, and her grandmother has never met an emotion that couldn't be suffocated with mashed potatoes or chicken fried steak. Despite the over-love of a nutty family and the support of good, but skinny friends, waddling around campus is getting harder. In an effort to keep daily humiliations to a minimum, Maddy lives by rules she's developed to hide in plain sight. Fat Rule #2 Never run in front of other humans, even if being chased by a mass-murdering maniac. Better to die with honor than let that jelly jiggle! But when her birthday turns into Celebration Humiliation, Maddy's best friend, Sam, gives her a dose of tough love that would put an elephant down, setting Maddy on a life-changing course that includes Richard Simmons and a date with a college guy, or two. Part memoir, part wishful thinking, The Fat Rules is a laugh-out-loud ride on the crazy train with genuine, heart-breaking insight into the emotional pain of being overweight. If you've ever struggled with weight issues, finding your place in the world, or incapacitating insecurity, Maddy Quinn is right there with you.

KIRKUS RECOMMENDED ROMANTIC SUSPENSE Someone had been trying for the perfect shade of red... As if that isn't enough, her ex-boyfriend's younger brother, Finn Tierny, is assigned to the case, and she's faced with a trilogy of dilemmas: go head to head with the chief, stop a cold-blooded killer on her own, or trust another Tierny. Finn's return to Riley's Peak is bittersweet. He's flooded with memories, both good and bad, as he battles doubts about being a cop, a cantankerous father, a jealous brother, and a drug dealer with a rap-sheet longer than the list of addicts he's been supplying. Threats escalate, the suspect list grows, and it becomes clear -- the murderer's resolve to kill Bianca is almost as strong as Finn's desire to keep her alive. Almost.

Second Banana by Joseph Settineri (Joseph R Settineri) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 38 minutes ago

Second Banana, links a unique, exciting story of the show business world, to a drama with paranormal overtones. The tale is told from the perspectives of a near-do-well entertainer at two stages of his life. In 1963, a young Danny Russo was billed as: Danny Ocean Jr., the 'Man Of A Hundred Voices' and had a special talent as a vocal impersonator of the great singers that gave him notoriety as a top opening act. Danny flirted with stardom and a brief entry into Sinatra's inner circle during the swinging sixties. His success was further boosted by teaming up with a talented performer (Reena Powers) as a duet act. Now, thirty years later, he is a down on his luck mid-lifer, fallen on hard times from his own vices and the suicide of his manager Roy, who's surreptitious investment scams, left Danny bankrupt and implicated in illegal activities that required jail time. Still, he longs for a comeback. Danny always fancied himself as having a knack for premonition. He learns his seven year old son may have inherited this ability but with more serious consequences. Danny is presented as a flawed yet alluring personality, with underlying humor. He is compelled by vice and circumstance to confront tough personal and moral decisions when he comes to realize the secrets of a cold case murder of a starlet and its implications on himself and others if those secrets are revealed. The reader is challenged to ponder the choices they might make under similar circumstances. Second Banana weaves a compelling story line with well drawn characters and captivating sub plots that skillfully intertwine and build up to an explosive, surprise ending. It succeeds on many levels in telling a tale that is part mystery, show business expose, and love story portraying the way the game is really played on the Street of Celebrity Dreams !

This is the Wonder (The Clean Cut) by Tracey Ward 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

I went to Europe to study. To have fun, to hide, to run away from the endless sea of choices that would mold and shape the rest of my life. I wasn't ready for any of that. I wasn't ready to have all the answers. I definitely wasn't ready for Jax. Handsome, sweet, and sporting the biggest blue eyes I'd ever seen, he swooped into my world and changed everything. Suddenly I wasn't scared of making choices. I wasn't afraid of voicing answers. It was easy because where Jax was concerned, my answer was always "Yes". But loving a military man isn't easy, and while Jax seemed like the answer to everything, he has questions of his own. Doubts about his future. Fears about his past. EXCERPT: We're almost silent on the way to the airport. He's handsome and romantic in his uniform, but he's not Jax. Not my Jax, not entirely. He's the soldier now. The piece of him that isn't his and it definitely isn't mine. My Jax was left behind in the cooling sheets of the bed that will smell like him when I get home. I'll cry over them, I won't be able to help it, but then I'll strip them from the bed and wash them. Then I'll wait. I try not to think about that now, though. I'd rather just be with him than be sad with him. It's something I'm learning being married to a military man. You can't feel everything all the time. Not the anxiety or dread or loneliness. It will destroy you, and not just you as a person but you as a couple. It's good to miss him when he's gone but I can't miss him every second of every day. I have to live my life and turn the pages as I wait for him to return because our story isn't told only in the grandiose moments. It's not just the sorrowful goodbyes or the joyous reunions. Those are glimpses. They're the fairy tale. Real life is lived in the little things -- in the ordinary threads that weave the world together, building a tapestry that tells our tale in perfect, vivid detail. Even the imperfect parts.

Eight months have passed since the fall of the Tyranneon Kingdom. While the Laurasia Corps helps other nations fight the last remnants of their longtime enemy, Kortan develops all sorts of nifty new tech for his nation's soldiers, and often accompanies them in battle. In the first installment of Megazoic, the Laurasian Empire has been at war with the Tyranneon Kingdom for fifteen years. While the conflict has remained relatively bloodless, fatigue has started to set in for the Laurasia Corps, the empire's military force. When a Sinraptor named Kortan prods a bit too carelessly into studying Tyranneon tech, the Tyranneons launch a surprise attack on one of Laurasia's cities, and take two Laurasians captive. One of these Laurasians is Belar, an Edmontosaurus and Kortan's best friend, thus Kortan feels responsible for his capture. Enlisting the help of the Psi Squad, one of the worst-ranked squads in the Laurasia Corps but also the only one available, he ventures deep into Tyranneon territory to save his friend, while the rest of the Corps has their own plans. However, it becomes apparent the Tyranneons have hid their true power for all these years. Their prince, a bloodthirsty Suchomimus, plans to hold back no longer. And their technology, the main source of their power, has a dark secret. Kortan may have only wanted to enact a rescue mission, but he's about to throw himself in the middle of a war.

That moment changed Matt's world, revealing a truth of the afterlife few would believe and even fewer would ever want to know. TWELVE SHOTS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD by Richard Hooke (Richard M. Hooke) 3.2 Stars (5 Reviews)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

JFK Researcher Richard Hooke - anthropologist, computer software engineer, stay-at-home dad, American provides a truthful, unbiased, common-sense analysis of the assassination of President Kennedy. An honest 21st century account of how the U.S. Military/CIA/DISC morphed into a monstrous entity that murdered one of our greatest Presidents, seized control of our democracy and revealed their disregard for the basic rights of everyone by murdering the patsy, Lee Harvey Oswald, whom Hooke has proven, by computer analysis, to have been innocent of any shooting. Hooke provides the identities, locations and details of the U.S. Military/CIA/DISC sniper teams, positioned in Dealy plaza on November 22, 1963 at 12:30 pm, who shot the President and Hooke provides confirmation by witness testimony, ballistic evidence and through the account of Bobby Kennedy's CIA investigator, Hugh Huggins, who was present at the Bethesda autopsy and confirmed to Bobby Kennedy that Jack Kennedy was murdered by the U.S. Military/CIA/DISC, thus necessitating the murder of Bobby Kennedy, by the CIA, 4½ years later, on June 6, 1968. Mr. Hooke has proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the murder of President Kennedy was orchestrated and perpetrated by the U.S. Military/CIA/DISC, FBI(division5), Secret Service, Dallas PD and Lansky crime syndicate - then the FBI and CIA controlled media covered it up. A sad, reminiscent trip back to that tragic day, November 22, 1963 when America was assassinated and we lost our country; a sobering examination of the corrupt, greedy and self-serving military chieftains, politicians and the money, power and pathetic history of denial by our self-proclaimed "greatest generation" who, to this very day, cannot face their inner demons and evil complicity in the public execution of John Kennedy, the scapegoating of Lee Harvey Oswald, and the reality that until we face what America did to JFK we surely have no hope of re-igniting the torch we once carried for humanity.

The Birth of the Peacekeepers. by Ricky Sides (Books in Motion) 3.6 Stars (106 Reviews)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

Edited by Frankie Sutton and revised by Ricky Sides on March 7th, 2011. Centered around a series of natural disasters of biblical proportions that are occurring on a global scale, tens of millions have died as a result of the earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, gigantic super cell thunderstorms and tornados that are ravaging the earth. A rogue nation decides to take advantage of the chaos at this time to attack America with nuclear weapons. The American intelligence network learns of the plan and the government decides to launch a first strike at this rogue nation. This information leaks out to other nations and soon the world is poised on the brink of all out nuclear conflagration as the nuclear nations choose sides in the coming conflict. As the militaries of the world go underground in preparation for the attack most of the world is blissfully ignorant of what is about to happen. There are a few exceptions to this. The civilians that are aware make plans to try to survive the attack as well. As the moment for the attack draws near, the disaster plagued planet is beset by earthquakes of unprecedented intensity and numbers. Oddly the epicenters seem to be located at every major military installation around the world. (It is implied and hinted at that divine intervention has saved mankind from nuclear war, though it is never outright stated.) When the survivors of the earthquakes look around them the next morning they see a world drastically changed. A few men and women struggle to cope with the devastation as best they can but many turn to marauding as a means of survival. Preying on any people they encounter they slaughter any that oppose them as they take anything they want. A few of the survivors band together to protect those weaker than themselves. Devils Island by Ron Hall 3.6 Stars (39 Reviews)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

Jacob frantically stumbled over the fallen log, crashing uncontrollably through the dense underbrush and falling to the ground. He scrambled quickly back up to his feet and began running again. Jacob had no idea where he was going, but he knew that he should run. He crashed through some more undergrowth and into a little less dense part of the forest. He spun, looking around. His heart felt as if it were trying to jump out of his chest. His mind was racing. Where had Rick gone? Was the thing following him? Was it following Rick? The two friends had just split up, hoping that at least one of them could get away. He turned and ran again, as he ran; he tried looking over his shoulder to see if that thing was after him. He saw no sign of it. Running through this jungle was tough and he kept stumbling and falling. He looked back again; nothing. He turned his head back just in time to dodge around a large tree, as he jumped to his left, he was knocked off balance with a vicious blow. He felt like he had been run over by a truck or a middle linebacker. He hit the ground hard and bounced once. He tried to regain his balance and scramble back to his feet but just as he began to rise he was knocked backward again by the heavy blow of a large hairy paw. Jacob did not even realize that blood was seeping out of his body in several places. The claws had opened his face and falling through the brush had opened several small wounds on his arms and legs. He tried to rise up to his feet again; his entire body was protesting the movement. He felt as if he were moving in slow motion. A cold blackness was beginning to overcome him as he saw the big paw with the razor sharp claws swinging down toward his face. The blackness now enveloped him, his last thought was: I hope Rick makes it out.

In the short course of less than one year, a small-town newspaper which was run on a shoe-string was featured on the front page of two major newspapers and on network news, all due to covering the news with loud flashy headlines that 'shouted' the news rather than boring its readers to tears. In short, the news made news. That was just the beginning, before long the newspaper would be the target of an organized effort by a county sheriff and his deputies and a candidate for states attorney to clean the paper off newsstands the night before an election and result in a landmark First Amendment case which is now the law of the land.

The Octopus: A Story of California by Frank Norris (Open Road Media) 3.9 Stars (52 Reviews)    Price verified one minute ago

From the author of McTeague: The classic novel of corporate corruption and violent rebellion in the railroad industry. On May 11, 1880, at a San Joaquin Valley ranch, a shootout between tenant farmers and a sheriff's posse left seven dead. The dispute was over land rights. The law was acting in the service of the Southern Pacific Railroad. This tragedy marked the beginning of the end for the American frontier, and it became the inspiration for Frank Norris's epic tale of wheat croppers struggling against the tightening grip of the railroad industry. With a cast of characters ranging from poor hired hands to wealthy landowners and railroad barons, Norris's novel goes beyond its central conflict to chronicle the myriad political and social issues that rippled out from it. The first work in Norris's planned Epic of the Wheat Trilogy, The Octopus was an important exposé of railroad greed that drew comparisons to Émile Zola for its incredible breadth. It is a great read for fans of gritty, historically inspired western series such as Deadwood or Hell on Wheels. This ebook has been professionally proofread to ensure accuracy and readability on all devices.

The Reset by Daniel Powell (Distillations Press) 4.4 Stars (63 Reviews)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

A young man with a terrible secret buried deep in his chest staggers through what remains of the American South. The destruction is total -- the landscape scrubbed bare by the fires of the Reset. The sun rarely penetrates the daily ash storms, and the last of the Earth's plants and animals are slowly dying out. And yet, there are survivors. Benjamin Stone is one of them, and he's searching for the only person who can share his pain, another who was biologically altered at birth to become a weapon capable of bringing the world to its knees. Outside of the few supplies that sustain him in his search for a new life, he has nothing. Nothing but a will to survive and the desire to find someplace safe -- someplace better. The Reset is a story of perseverance. It examines a future in which fragmentation and devolution have decimated society, and in which terrorism represents the final desperate attempt at shuffling the deck. With thematic elements similar to Stephen King's The Stand and Cormac McCarthy's The Road, it's a post-apocalyptic story about the survivors of humanity's cruelest intentions, and their essential impulse to rebuild.

Arthur Conan Doyle: The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle (RMB) 4.4 Stars (616 Reviews)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who first appeared in publication in 1887. He is the creation of Scottish born author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based detective, Holmes is famous for his intellectual prowess, and is renowned for his skillful use of deductive reasoning (somewhat mistakenly - see inductive reasoning) and astute observation to solve difficult cases. He is arguably the most famous fictional detective ever created, and is one of the best known and most universally recognizable literary characters in any genre. Conan Doyle wrote four novels and fifty-six short stories that featured Holmes. All but four stories were narrated by Holmes' friend and biographer, Dr. John H. Watson, two having been narrated by Holmes himself, and two others written in the third person. The first two stories, short novels, appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual for 1887 and Lippincott's Monthly Magazine in 1890. The character grew tremendously in popularity with the beginning of the first series of short stories in The Strand Magazine in 1891; further series of short stories and two serialized novels appeared almost right up to Conan Doyle's death in 1930. The stories cover a period from around 1878 up to 1903, with a final case in 1914. This collection contains all the 60 official and the 6 unofficial Sherlock Holmes stories - in total 66 works (the biggest and greatest Sherlock Holmes collection in the eBook world). ? Galaxy Man by Mark Wayne McGinnis (Avenstar Productions) 4.6 Stars (97 Reviews)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

"Ridiculously cool science fiction -- A vivid world of intrigue and violence... R.J. Wright" The year is 2117. In the farthest reaches of Earth's territorial space, a spree of depraved murders has local cattle ranchers fearing for their families. A fear, they will soon discover, that is more than justified. Apparently, John Gallic's reputation proceeded his arrival to the fringe-world of Muleshoe. A reputation suggesting he be given a wide berth. As the new Territory Abettor, commonly referred to as a Frontier Marshal, Gallic would be there for the long haul. Formally titled Detective Chief Inspector of the Spatial Colonial Police -- District 22 -- he'd investigated only the highest profile murders and was a rising star within the department. But that life was in the past. Gallic now provided an assortment of backwater law enforcement services to the burgeoning deep-space frontier territories. Sure, there was an occasional smalltime crime to investigate, but more often than not Gallic spent his days -- commissioned by the big Interstellar banks -- repossessing billionaire ranchers' high-priced spacecraft. A glorified repo man. He was fine with that. It gave him spare time to do the one thing more important than anything else -- find the murderer of his wife and child. Piloting his voluminous spacecraft, the Hound, Gallic arrives on Muleshoe expecting his latest assignment to be no different than the hundred other repo jobs he's performed. Typically, no one gets in his way. Then a Vid-Message call comes in from D-22 -- the Hammer and Nails Killer is at it again. Right there within the frontier worlds. Soon, Gallic would be chasing the very same cunning serial killer who, mercilessly, stole his once-perfect life away from him. The line between prey and predator becomes blurred and the Galaxy Man will have no problem sacrificing himself to kill a killer.

Sayville Tales: A Novel of Travelers' Tales by Lawrence Jay Switzer (Camp Uncas Legacy Press) 4.8 Stars (27 Reviews)    Price verified 10 minutes ago

Twelve strangers, two ghosts, and the Devil--while sharing a long railroad journey--concoct a storybook of tales and trifles as hours of blank pages unfurl ahead of them. Not since Chaucer's pilgrims hit the road with tongues wagging have travelers had this much babble and gabble to share with their fellow wayfarers. Meanwhile, glimpses of the expansive, crumbling mural referred to as America flash past the windows, and the lies, the truths, and the grandiose exaggerations keep coming on both sides of the glass. Talk is cheap and tickets are cheaper, but what are the rules? First of all--as your mother often told you--be sure you are wearing clean underwear because anything can happen. Second, recognize that there aren't any rules. It's every passenger for himself. Sayville Tales is a tragicomic hotchpotch of hot air on wheels. It's also a glimpse of happenstance's possibilities, resembling a roll of vividly imagined wallpaper imprinted with a design that never repeats itself unless it's for a greater effect. The real question is, how could you possibly know what the ride is like if you don't get on the train? MOBILIZE-a Science Fiction Multi-series Box Set by Chris Lowry 3.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 7 hours ago

Are aliens among us? Are they on their way to invade planet earth? What about abductees? What does ET want? Just a few of the questions from a couple of science fiction comedies that fans fall in love with in this box set of first books in four series. Post apocalyptic sci fi fans devour the Battlefield Z series and gobble up the seven books like it was canned SPAM after the zombie plague turns the middle of America in to a wasteland. Super Secret Space Mission is like Dumb and Dumber in Space. If you the movie made you chuckle, you'll like this story. If it didn't, it's not for you. Moon Men has enough sci fi references to keep an uberfan connecting dots all night. It's like taking all the classics, putting them in a stewpot and make a good gumbo with it. Again, love or hate, since the science in this one is soft. Flyover Zombie is sparse with details, focused on a more Elmore Leonard style of writing where it's up to the reader to fill in some of the blanks. This makes for a lightning paced read, but if you're a lazy reader who needs all the details spelled out, this might not be for you. If you don't like Leonard, probably avoid it. Plus there are links at the front and back where you can get a couple of free books to find out when others are coming out in the series. Each series has 3 or more books in it, so if you do enjoy them, plan for a long weekend of reading pleasure. Includes: Battlefield Z Book one in the post apocalyptic sci fi comedy series about a father leading a ragtag group of survivors through a zombie filled wasteland in a hunt for his children. Fans have called the series "addictive," and "a top ten favorite." Super Secret Space Mission Book one of the Super Secret series is a sci fi comedy about a dumb duo mistaken for super soldiers and accidentally shot into space to fight invading aliens. Comedy sci fi called Dumb and Dumber meets Galaxy Quest. The Dipole Shield Tongue in cheek humor abounds in this slightly harder sci fi comedy ...
