Alcohol Killed My Brother, I Survived Alcohol: Progress to Pilgrim

I wrote about the death of my brother, through alcohol dependency, and my own struggle with alcoholism, shortly after de-toxing for the last time, in order to try and help other people. That was early 2007. I still don't bother with the booze. Later that year I felt the pull of the small church across the lane from the house where I lived, which had my name written on the sign board to the church. I overcame my hesitance and went to the Church, and the fresh start began, as I launched myself into the Bible. On a freezing night that winter, with ice on the inside of the windows, as I lay in bed, I heard my name, and if my life hadn't been changed for good already, then it certainly had now. Revelation through dreams followed over the following years and the short stories resulted. This account , I suppose is a combined effort : the fall from Grace; the way back; prodigal son; revelation; redemption; pilgrimage; forgiveness; evangelism. The short stories are fictional, with fictional characters ( although many of the transgressions are my own ). I am not a writer, just an average Joe, with I think, a down to earth, practical mind. I don't know why this has happened, but I can only say that the dreams are the truth. I can easily recall each scene right now, even though the dream or vision is from years ago.
The purpose is clear: to provide help, encouragement to those suffering; evangelism; to
reinforce and encourage those of Faith. I will take the flak, and the sniggers, and the finger pointers, because I've done my duty, which is to share. Hopefully this account will do some good - I hope so. I know what I've seen and what I've heard, and I'll not be changing my mind for anybody.
I laughed at a suggestion one time in a clinic that I needed God or a higher power to sustain me. I do know that today I have Faith and I'm not dependent on alcohol, and by His Grace it will be the same tomorrow.
