I found God in my loneliness: She likes a quiet room Before she enters by Rae Sowards 4.6 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

I found God in my loneliness: She likes a quiet room Before she enters takes the reader on a poetic pilgrimage of divine truth. Through vivid earthly metaphors, Rae Sowards reminds us that our multifaceted human experience serves as the core catalyst of both self-discovery and cosmic union. When one chooses to love and empathize, one becomes inseparable from Source. When one chooses fear, the more the ego clings to illusory mundane life, convincing itself that's all there is. Ultimately, this poetry collection reminds us that we are souls having a human experience -- one that is brimming magic.

This book is a must-read for everyone, especially those in the medical profession who only know what they learned at medical school. This book should be added to the curriculum. Confessions of a False Stoic by RM Wark 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 2 hours ago

There are times when the words do not come, no matter how much I desire to fill the blank page. There are other times when the words flow freely, almost without effort. This often occurs in times of sadness, in times of quiet reflection. Such was the case with the eight short stories and eighteen poems included within the Confessions of a False Stoic.

Noises: A Poetic Exploration Of Anarchy by Dean Tongue 5.0 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

"We can't afford to eat... We can't afford to heat our homes... Yet we sit here in silence... Imagine what we could achieve if we actually made some NOISE" Dante is a 40 year old loner who works a minimum wage job which he hates. He is bullied by his supervisors and has no real friends to speak of. He is secretly in love with a co-worker who he knows he has no chance in hell with. He hates the city he lives in and he even hates himself. Yet one day he finds his calling - After ranting about the cost of living crisis online, he realises there are many like-minded people just like him who are sick of living in poverty and want to fight back... The 'Faces of the Voiceless' are born, an anarchy group led by Dante, which aims to bring the UK to its knees. By day, Dante continues to be the bullied, ridiculed loner who hates his life. By night, he is the fearless, masked leader of an extremely dangerous anarchy movement. Dante's double life becomes increasingly complicated as his two worlds collide. Who is the real Dante? The suicidal loner or the fearless anarchist? 'Noises' - a poetic exploration of anarchy.

The Aeneid, Book Twelve: Latin Text, with an Introduction and Latin Prose Version and English Summaries (Aeneid Prose Versions 5) by Sean Gabb (Centre for Ancient Studies) Price verified 22 hours ago

This book contains the complete text of Aeneid XII, together with a rendering into Latin prose and a running summary of the whole in English. Its main intended audience is International Baccalaureate students, for whom this is one of the set texts; as well as A-Level Latin students in England, for whom it will be a set text in 2022 and 2023. A larger and less easily defined audience is anyone, in any time or place, who wants to read Vergil, but whose Latin is not ready for the challenge. I have reordered the words in a more obvious sequence. I have replaced many words with more natural alternatives. I have supplied pronouns and verbs and prepositions that could not be fitted into the metrical structure. I have broken up the paragraphs, and formatted the whole as if it were a novel. The advantage is that the result is still Latin. It is Latin that most A-Level and IB students will be able to read without too much looking in a dictionary -- and not too much headscratching thereafter. It is Vergil in a Latin no more difficult than an A-Level unseen. Unlike any English version, it is obviously related to the original, and is a fair key to understanding the original. It also gives students a piece of Latin that they can read at length, and that will be good practice for the unseen translation. The Haiku Zoo: The Haiku Zoo Book 1: Lion (Mark Watson Children's Books) by Mark Watson (Mark Watson Books) 3.7 Stars (17 Reviews)    Price verified 22 hours ago

Welcome to the Haiku Zoo! Meet Lion, the first animal we'll visit on our trip to the Haiku Zoo. Featuring fantastic illustrations from Dunstan Carter and stunning Haiku from Mark Watson, here comes a brand new twist on the short, Japanese poetry form, the Haiku. A delightful new animal books series by Mark Watson, author of the multi-award-winning, bestselling children's picture books "Milo & Ze", "The Shark in the Park", "The Travelling Circus" and "The Hairy Fairy". Haiku What is a Haiku? A Haiku is a very short poem with only three lines. To understand how a Haiku works we need to know what a syllable is. A syllable is a unit of pronunciation, a piece of a word. Each piece is one vowel sound, ignoring the consonants. So, "Lion" has two syllables. "Boom" has one syllable. "Integrity" has four syllables. Now we know what a syllable is the next thing we need to know is the form of a Haiku. A Haiku must only have three lines. Each line has a number of syllables. The first line has FIVE syllables. The second line has SEVEN syllables. The third line also only has FIVE syllables. So a Haiku has a total of only SEVENTEEN syllables. Hooray, we know what a Haiku is, when you finish reading the Haiku Zoo there are some exercises to do at the back and some activities to do with your friends in the classroom. Welcome to the Haiku Zoo...
