Christianity: A Successful Failure: Finding Faith in an Age of Fear and Falsehood by Tim Spiess 3.6 Stars (6 Reviews)    Price verified 48 minutes ago

This book may shock and offend you! It will test your intellect and provide a gut-retching read giving insights you have never before considered. You will need to be secure in your beliefs to make it through, but if you can make it, and you care about what is true, it will be like a journey from a dark, cold tunnel to warm, beautiful light. Make no mistake, you will have to use your mind and reason and demonstrate some intellectual courage to get the payoff. Do you believe that the historical person of Jesus of Nazareth can show you how to enter into eternal life? If you have never diligently studied his teachings, why would you believe you will enter into Eternal Life? This author has been listening to the real, historical Jesus of Nazareth as he describes himself by his own words in the four gospel books for many years. You will be shocked at how different the life-view Jesus provides is in comparison to what Christianity offers. Yes, science offers many solutions to our problems, but science has limitations. Science does not solve our most pressing problems like how to reduce conflict or how best to implement justice and mercy. Nor can science solve our biggest issue - what happens to us when we die? If you are really interested in the world view of Jesus of Nazareth and the truth about eternal life, this book is for you. The payoff could be a life free from fear, self-pride, and selfishness.

HOW SATAN ATTACKS by Andy Ripley 4.2 Stars (7 Reviews)    Price verified 6 hours ago

For thousands of years, Satan has been marshalling his forces, launching systematic attacks on the sons of Adam. He has launched his barrages against believers and unbelievers alike. For Christians, there is an advantage when facing the evil onslaughts. The Bible details the devil's methods and tactics. Paul says in II Corinthians chapter two that we are not ignorant of Satan's devices. We have seen him act to steal God's word from hearts, to twist God's word in false teaching, and to sow doubt. We have heard his favorite lies and accusations, we have observed him engendering fear, and we have witnessed him sowing tares among the wheat. But too many followers of Jesus Christ remain unaware of the varied ways that Satan weakens, blinds and sickens them. In this book, many of his modes of attack are laid out, with the goal that believers will be more thoroughly fortified against the father of lies.

The Ministry of the Apostle Paul by James Thomas Lee Jr 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified one hour ago

When this book was begun in late November 2013, the intent was to write a commentary on chapter five of Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus. But about fifty pages into that endeavor, it became clear that the book was not going in that direction. For one thing, his letter to that church had not even been mentioned in those pages. For another, the focus up to that point had been on Paul's missionary journeys. The reason for those problems was that the original intent had been to put his letter to the church into the context of his journeys. But there was so much to say about the journeys that his letter to the church had taken a back seat. So the title was changed to its current title, and the remaining efforts were applied in that direction. This book is a history of Paul's ministry. Great effort has been expended to try to date when and where Paul had gone. Then, at each stopping point, the more significant events of what had happened to him are shared. Most people would probably not think of him as taking five separate missionary journeys. But that is because the first one and the last one were not as carefully documented as the middle three. In the pages that follow, the reader will be able to clearly see those five journeys, plus his two separate imprisonments in Rome. Most people also have probably never attempted to put his writing of his thirteen letters to the churches and certain individuals into the context of what was going on in his life at the time. But this book has done that and has also dedicated space to trying to report what he was saying in those letters. For example, the person who reads this book will learn what Paul had meant when he wrote in Romans 1:20-32 that God turned certain individuals over to a reprobate mind. He or she will learn what Paul had meant in I Timothy 2:11-15 when he wrote about women being silent in the church. He or she will learn what Paul had meant in I Timothy 3:1-7 concerning men and women being involved in the ...

Heart and Soul: Recon and Rangers, book 2 by Allen Ballantine 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

The elven nation of Gallnor has survived the initial invasion on two fronts by their neighbors, Krazzar and Efristan, thanks mainly to the efforts of two elite groups. Recon and Rangers, two elite groups, one human and the other elves have worked together to stop the onslaught. Now, Major Maxwell Lowe, commander of recon team nine is heading back to the Isles to explain his actions in rescuing ranger scout Allynna Raynore. After fighting overwhelming odds on the battlefield, Max and Allynna will find that they have other battles to fight. President Bailey wants to know what happened, and why Max attacked an orcish squad inside their country and exactly what he was doing in Gallnor. Aside from answering to the president, there's going to be inquiries from both the military, and political opponents of the president into whether Max should be charged and prosecuted. For Allynna, she has to brace herself for life in the human island nation and reaction from its people to their marriage, most notably, Max's family. When the tide of war turns to Gallnor's favor, President Bailey offers to mediate an agreement to end the war, and asks Max and Allynna to deliver his proposal to the elves. A proposal that also includes opening peaceful relations between their countries and a mutual defense pact. With a possible peace between humans and elves, Max and Allynna's marriage becomes a symbol that the two races can get along together. But there are those in all countries that oppose this peace and are willing to stop it, and its symbol. The war may be over, but Max and Allynna will discover that the battles to preserve peace can be just as deadly as the battles of war. And to survive, they'll need more than the naxas, the linking of their minds and bodies, but also the naxas of heart and soul.

HEAVEN SENT LOVE: FINDING PEACE THROUGH THE STORMS OF SORROW AND LOSS by Julie Lowry 4.2 Stars (13 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Do you know anyone who has gone through a rough time, lost hope, had depression, lost a child, wanted to crawl in a hole, and never come out? We all know many people like that; perhaps we are that person. This book is about life, love, losing a child, sorrow, and the grieving that comes with it. You will feel connected to those in this book who share the most heartbreaking and painful moments they have ever been through. You will be able to feel empathy for them while you read about the torn pieces of their life as they begin to heal and come back into the world of the living. There are many stories of a child dying; from illness, drowning, being run over, stillbirth, falling from a cliff, plane crash, avalanche, suicide, and more. Writing a book was not my idea, but God prompted me many years ago that I was supposed to write this book. (He keeps updating the promptings over and over.) The purpose is so we can all experience the love, comfort, and healing that is ongoing for everyone.

Spock, a half-human, half-Vulcan, tries to live his life through the teaching of Surak - a non-violent branch of both Stoicism and Humanism. Through this approach with others, the Trek character shows his logical side, and yet there is another philosophical stance that often intersects with Spock's behavior - Taoism. Tzu's Tao Te Ching deals with the areas of nature, political power, social interactions, family, and peace, among the most important areas of life humans must find their way. When a virus wipes out ninety-percent of the population, the survivors are left wondering whether this is the end of humanity, or a chance to create something new. GEMMA He stole me away from my friends and dragged me out into the wilderness. He's cold, unemotional, and ruthless. Except with me. With me, he's considerate. Protective. Even sweet, sometimes. But he's still my captor. I should hate him. So why don't I? God says we should love our enemies. That all people can be forgiven of their sins. Maybe there is some goodness inside Cole, but if there is, it will take a lot of patience to find it. Good thing patience has always been my strong suit. COLE I used to have honor, morals, principles. But that was a long time ago. Long before the world fell apart. Now, honor is dangerous. Morals and principles can get you killed. If you want something, you fight for it. And I want her. Even if it means betraying Lee. But Lee isn't the forgiving type. And he certainly doesn't forget. He won't rest until he's hunted us down. In a world where nothing's left except decay and despair, I've finally found something worth fighting for. Worth dying for. And I'm not letting her go. *Trigger Warning* This book contains references to violence that happened in the character's past. Reader discretion is advised.

A "New Age" or "Messianic Age": How to Bring It Into Being by Eric Heubeck 3.5 Stars (5 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

The Bible is an often obscure, cryptic, and esoteric book -- many religious believers and non-believers can agree on that much. But what if the authors of the Bible were actually expressing opposition to the very obscurity and esotericism of their own writings, in their own writings? Furthermore, what if the ending of the "present age" and the arrival of the "Messianic Age" predicted by the Bible prophets could only ever occur once that entire cryptically symbolic "esoteric" or "prophetical" manner of religious discourse -- one that is found in all traditional religions -- had already been seriously questioned, confronted, and finally repudiated by humanity as a whole? As strange and surprising and paradoxical as these possibilities might sound, in this book Eric Heubeck carefully analyzes the contents of the Bible to reveal a great deal of compelling evidence arguing in favor of just such an hypothesis -- far more than might at first be apparent. As you progress through the book, you will be amazed to watch as the "anti-esotericist message" hidden within Bible prophecy gradually takes shape before your eyes. Summary of Contents Part 1 of 12: The impossibility of any "New Age" or "Messianic Age" ever arriving before humanity has already defeated the Lie Part 2 of 12: The evils of religious esotericism; and the "hidden anti-esotericist message" of the Bible Part 3 of 12: Getting started with anti-esotericist Bible interpretation: The crucially important symbol of "Babel" or "Babylon," and the crucially important theme of a primordial "confusing of language" Part 4 of 12: The recurring theme in the Bible of "two sides" or "two parts"; and its relation to "scripture" and "language" Part 5 of 12: The recurring theme in the Bible of "two sides" or "two parts"; and its relation to "scripture" and "language" (cont'd) Part 6 of 12: The symbolic image of "throwing stones into water": What does it mean? The Curse of 1920 by Gary D. Naler (RTC Quest Publications) 2.8 Stars (21 Reviews)    Price verified 7 hours ago

In 1920, a three-pronged Curse was unleashed upon America and the world, effecting the most dramatic and destructive changes to man since the Garden of Eden. This three-pronged Curse is: the women's rights movement; jazz, rock 'n' roll, and rap; and abortion and euthanasia. The Curse of 1920 chronicles the wholly destructive affects of this Curse, affording conclusive evidence from multiple sources, and critically gets to the very root of our nation's most compelling governmental, social, and religious problems. As this book clearly reveals, the root of this Curse lies in women, the black man, feminized men, the church, and is even rooted 3,726 years before in Abraham. But exposing these problems is only the beginning; for unless we take specific measures to reverse the Curse of 1920, it will continue to destroy us! These measures are clearly laid out here.

100 Ways God Speaks to You - Book I: How Does God Speak to Us Today? by Robert A. Avila 4.8 Stars (19 Reviews)    Price verified 10 hours ago

" 'Call out,' the voice asserted. This direction edged into my brain and flooded my mental realm... " God can speak to any of us, anytime -- but how do we hear Him? Christian author, Robert Avila, didn't always recognize God speaking to him, until he discovered a pattern. In a collection of short stories from his life, Avila shares specific moments he acted upon promptings from a still small voice -- saw the outcome -- and noticed God using him as a vehicle to carry out tiny... and sometimes enormous miracles. But how did Robert know it wasn't just his own thoughts? In this short story collection, he explains how God breaks the chains of religious indoctrination and sets us on the narrow path. He teaches us the techniques God uses to draw us nearer to Him and guide us toward our life's purpose. Perhaps God is speaking to you, but you don't recognize His voice. Just like there are hundreds of radio waves -- some producing clear sounds, others inaudible -- there are more than 100 ways God communicates. In this book, Avila teaches you how to transform your faith -- tune-in -- and hear Him.
