Hacking God, Men & Me By A Maverick Shrink: 149 Unpsyching Short Stories & Poems by Dr Samir Shah 4.2 Stars (26 Reviews)    Price verified 43 minutes ago

This award winning book explores the bestowed quality upon us called 'Life' through the lens of philosophy and psychology. The 149 parables and poems on the various aspects of existence are just a page or so long, but may make the reader ponder for a good while. And, hopefully, sometimes recognize and laugh at oneself. 'It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.' - Aristotle The book aspires to go beyond the 'your God - my God', 'God - No God' debates and tries to analyze the motives of the entity that created us. 'Religion's eleventh commandment is: Thou shalt not question.' - Freud Unmasking the insidious Unconscious drives of humankind is another endeavor this shrink undertakes. 'Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.' - Carl Jung He shares his own vulnerabilities that may resonate with a reader open to honest introspection. 'The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.' - Ralph Waldo Emerson. Understanding reality is the eventual goal of the sentient. God is the final mystery. And the Truth is the ultimate thriller. This book is dark, disturbing and may come across as blasphemous at some places. It may not appeal to everyone. Hence, please peruse the first few pages in the 'Look inside' feature of the Kindle version to check if the book suits your taste. For those who are game, the book promises a mind expanding experience. (Context of the first piece 'The Truth-s' in the book: 'It is estimated that there are more stars in the Universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth'.- Carl Sagan) A concise, provocative guide to rethinking the obvious and thinking for yourself - PenCraft Book Award Please share a review of your experience of the book.

Ephesians: 11 Bible Studies for Small Groups (Small Group Bible Studies) by David Legg 4.5 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

Through these discussion Bible studies you will discover the structure of Ephesians, its theology and application. The 11 separate studies are designed for small groups to use, perhaps on a week-day evening. Most small group Bible study notes have far too much material in them and take hours to do; these don't. They require a time slot of an hour, or less, unless the group is large. All participants may have their own copy of these notes, which have spaces for writing in answers (in the paperback edition). This encourages regular attendance by group members. The leader uses the same study material, but will need to do some preparation beforehand. Both modern and older song suggestions are included. Some recommendations for extra reading by John Stott, Jim Packer, John Paton, William Hendriksen and Don Carson are given. Bible quotations are from 1984 New International Version.

Saint Thomas Aquinas - The Effects of the Eucharist by Mons. Peter Boer 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 5 hours ago

In this book, the Effects of the Most Holy Eucharist are presented by the Angelic Doctor and Doctor of the Doctors of the Church, St. Thomas Aquinas. "In the sacrament of the Eucharist, by virtue of the words of institution, the symbolic species become the body and blood; its accidents subsist in the subject; and in it, by consecration, without violation of the laws of nature, the one and whole Christ himself exists in various places, just as a voice is auscultated and exists in various places, persisting unchanged and remaining unchanged when divided, without suffering any diminution. Christ is indeed complete and perfect in every fragment of the host, just as well-visible appearances are multiplied in hundreds of mirrors." (Summa Theologiae IIIa. Pars. Qs. 79-80) An indispensable service for the faithful who wish to deepen their understanding of the Holy Eucharist and know its beneficial effect on those who participate in the communion of faith and piety at Holy Mass.

MisBelieving: Unmasking 'Fake Truths' in the Church by Dale Johnsen 4.5 Stars (19 Reviews)    Price verified 7 hours ago

This book is for mature Christians only. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. It rips the bandages off a dozen cherished false beliefs in order to sharpen and fine-tune your biblical theology. Such as: God protects His children from harm. All pastors are called to ministry. Invite Jesus into your heart to be saved. My church is a safe, loving family. Every precious promise in the Bible is mine to claim. In heaven, everyone is equal. I must live by the Ten Commandments. Muslims worship the same God. Hell is an eternal torture chamber. Our loved ones in heaven are walking around in resurrected bodies. Most wrongly assume these beloved but bogus ideas come from the Bible. Yet most are happy, cotton-candy delusions, fake truths, myths, misbeliefs that distort reality. This book shows why. This book is designed for a mature Christian audience worldwide. It is targeted to pastors, teaching elders, and seminary students - those who take the Bible seriously and take pains to avoid being sloppy about their faith.

How To Love Yourself 100% ("How To" Books) by HTeBooks 4.4 Stars (11 Reviews)    Price verified 8 hours ago

How To Love Yourself? Nothing is more important and more practical than having a healthy sense of self-worth, and this comes from loving yourself unreservedly. When the way you look at yourself is positive, then everything else about your life follows that path, and life becomes simpler, happier, and brighter. Why is loving yourself important? Because every relationship you will have with someone else will reflect the relationship you have with yourself. If you love yourself wholeheartedly, you will love other people with the same fervor. Far too many people look down on themselves or look to others for affirmation and validation. They feel low and needy, which results in one of two things: they either self-sabotage, or they start craving attention from other people. Out of a lack of self-love can stem a greed for affection, looking to others for love. People with low self-esteem start doing things out of the wrong motivation and out of focus. They starve themselves to death just to be thin or sexy enough, work themselves to death just to be successful enough, expose themselves to exaggerated pain and suffering just to be accepted enough -- and the list goes on. Lack of self-love is destructive. It is true and right that we should love others. But you need to ask yourself if you are more interested in giving love to others than giving love to yourself. Loving yourself brings contentment, motivation, and focus -- and that brings success and happiness. You don't love yourself only when you are perfect. Nobody is perfect or will ever be perfect. But love looks beyond imperfections and brings out the best. So instead of beating yourself up and being hard on yourself, loving yourself 100% means that you accept all of who you are in your own flawed skin. The best gift you can receive is YOURSELF -- overflowing with self-love. This book is about practical ways to love yourself 100% so you can be the happiest and the best you can be. With patience, compassion, ...

Alphabet of Being: Kabbalah and Tarot by Doris Baker 2.6 Stars (10 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

A Hebrew Alphabet Guide for Self Exploration If you wish you had a simple tool for self reflection, perhaps this ebook will help. Kabbalah and Tarot use the Hebrew alphabet to help us more clearly see our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, dreams and disappointments. These ancient symbols have served many as messengers, teachers, and comforters lighting up the patient wisdom available in all of us. The Tarot deck is associated with the kabbalistic Tree of Life. The 22 letters in this ebook are the foundation for the Major Arcana and can be used to reflect on one's thoughts, speech and actions. The Minor Arcana is related to the Kabbalah as well but is not a part of this ebook. I personally feel the letter shapes and the flow of Hebrew prayers are beautiful and calming; so I found myself drawn into an investigation of the alef bet and its mystical roots. To create Alphabet of Being I surveyed the kabbalistic underpinning of the Hebrew alphabet then synthesized the essence with pictures and themes. This ebook includes just the drawings and broad theme of each letter providing a general upbeat focus for contemplation with few words. I also created a longer ebook version - Alphabet & Feelings - which expands on the themes and adds snippets of poetry that touch on emotions from fear and grief to trust and joy. Use this alphabet as simplified Tarot Focus on some aspect of your life, then tap or click a hot-linked question mark at the beginning of each ebook to go to a random page. Consider how the image and concept might help you see yourself and your life in new ways, how your random selection might point you in a direction that shines light on whatever you've chosen to ponder. Some concepts inside include: • being dependable and self giving • remembering to love yourself and that you are loved • working to make your relationships easier • thinking about what you create • being a change agent • serving others • ...

Your Individual Divinity: Existing in Parallel Realities by Liane Rich (Loving Light Books) 4.9 Stars (15 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

All realities are made up of vibrating energy. You are a multi-dimensional Being existing in more than one reality at any given time. You may shift "up" to a higher version of you by focusing on a higher vibration. To use another analogy - say you have a game. Each level reached within the game carries a reward. It's not that you deserve or don't deserve the reward. The reward or gift is always there on that particular level and you have simply accessed that level. When you raise yourself to the level where the highest vibration realities exist you are going into a parallel reality; a reality that is already alive! The goal is to enter it and stay in it. How? You stay in the highest vibration, or version of yourself and you are magnetically drawn to that parallel reality. You live there also - simultaneously - you just haven't focused on that reality as you have been busy focusing on your current reality. It's not a future but a now! All parallel realities are here and now and they exist just as your current reality exists. You may shift "up" to a higher version of you by focusing on a higher vibration. Certain "feelings" give you a "lift up" to the next vibration. Once you raise yourself to a higher vibration you are magnetically drawn into the next higher vibrational stream of reality. You live where you choose to live by your choice of feelings. Low vibratory feelings draw you "into" a low vibrating stream of energy or a low vibrating parallel reality. You see, everything is already created! Everything that could possibly be imagined is already "alive" in the field of potentiality or the God force. Nothing that exists is wrong or bad or right or good. Everything, absolutely everything is simply energy in movement. Move your energy in the direction you choose. You may climb "up" the stairs or "down" the stairs depending on which level of the mansion you wish to experience. It's all just energy and you are simply on a tour of the mansion. You ...

Breaking the Vicious Circle: How to Beat Procrastination, Skyrocket Your Productivity, and Finally Get Things Done by Tomas Walter 4.7 Stars (11 Reviews)    Price verified one hour ago

As tough as it may sound, procrastination is the 'plague' of performance. It's the main reason why our productivity goes down the drain while our to-do list gets bigger and bigger until we can no longer tolerate the pressure of everyday activities. But you're not alone because thousands of people across the globe are struggling with the same problem as we speak. While some of them are actively fighting to keep procrastination in check, others are not even aware of their problem. The good news is you are among the lucky or smart ones who've realized they have a problem. The mere fact that you've decided to give this book a try means you're already determined to overcome this obnoxious behavior that has interfered with your daily business for too long. This book is a collection of scientifically-accurate techniques that will help you explore the roots of your procrastination tendencies, challenge the negative self-talk that's keeping you from being productive, find the 'right' motivation to keep you on track and, of course, implement a set of habits that will keep procrastination at bay. The content is inspired by techniques used by psychologists and other mental health professionals from all over the world. However, we've decided to opt for a friendly, conversational tone that will appeal to both 'Psychology geeks' and laymen as well. Also, most people who struggle with procrastination are constantly looking for excuses to avoid anything that might help them. In other words, a 'technical' book might be interpreted as 'too difficult', thus prompting you to put it away as soon as this intro part is over. But since our book is neither difficult nor time-consuming, there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't give it a try. Who knows? Maybe you'll finally manage to get rid of this giant productivity killer. Although the inner-workings of this counterproductive behavior have been explored in countless books and articles, and some strategies have been ...

Covenants for Evangelicals: Understanding Biblical Covenants for the 21st Century (2nd Edition) (Biblical Theology Book 5) by David Legg (Covenant Books UK) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 53 minutes ago

Evangelical Christians can benefit from having a better and more applied understanding of biblical covenant theology. God's covenants affect you, your family, and ultimately everybody. Making the connection between scripture and actual day-to-day Christian living requires a simple exploration of biblical covenant theology, popular wrong ideas to be challenged, and helpful advice on how to trust and obey God's covenants in the Bible in the 21st Century. This book argues for, and explains, the 'Five Covenant Model' of covenant theology that is inherent in scripture. The author argues that, ultimately, all scripture consists of: the Creation Covenant, the Abrahamic Covenant, the Old Covenant, the Davidic Covenant, and the New Covenant. This book contains plenty of application for the 21st Century reader. Bible quotations are mainly from the New International Version (UK), but the author would be interested to know if an ESV version of the book might be useful to some readers. Please see the Covenant Books UK web site: https://covenantbooksuk.org.uk/index.php/contact/ NB that this updated 2022 volume is the 2nd edition, the first having been published in 2019. The 2nd edition has many minor improvements, some corrections and a more lucid presentation.

Lost World of the Himalayas, The Journals of Explorer M.G. Hawking by M.G. Hawking 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Composed from the journals of explorer M.G. Hawking's five years in remote areas of the Himalayas, this book transports the reader into a legendary lost world, a journey that leads to the discovery of the most refined and powerful knowledge possessed by the human race. Many years ago, on an extended trek into an inner region of the vast wilderness of the Great Himalayan Range, Hawking chanced on an unexpected find. In a majestic valley surrounded by towering ice peaks, he encountered a beautiful small village. In that community, called Siddhalaya by its residents, he had the privilege of meeting a number of truly extraordinary men and women. This encounter marked the beginning of sixty-two months Hawking spent in the Himalayan regions of Nepal and Tibet, during which time he kept detailed records of his adventures, experiences, and conversations with those highly enlightened individuals. Over the past several years the team at Wisdom Masters Press, in association with Hawking, has worked diligently to compose a series of books based on his journals and field notes. This was a daunting assignment; Hawking had accumulated hundreds of pages of hand-written journal entries and field notes, all of which had to be sorted and cataloged. Yet it was a fascinating if formidable task, one that could not have been accomplished without the assistance and encouragement of some of the extraordinary individuals Hawking met in the Himalayas, all of whom you will meet in the pages of our books. From the Author: "The knowledge of the masters is profound and powerful, and one hopes it will have relevance to others, will offer them insight and guidance, will greatly expand their knowledge and power, will be validated by their experience, or, at the very least, will stimulate them to search further on their own. The philosophy expressed by the masters reflects as well the broader context and search of our culture at this particular stage of its development. The evolutionary ...

The Teachings of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount by James Thomas Lee Jr 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

In the first part of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus had made four points. First, He had been telling them to be poor in spirit, which meant that they should have a heart and mind that would be open to His instructions. Second, He had made some specific promises to those who are poor in spirit, mourning over their spiritual condition, meek, hungering and thirsting after righteousness, merciful, pure in heart, and makers of peace. He had spoken to those people who would be persecuted for His name's sake. He had spoken to those who have a responsibility to be salt and light. Third, He had shared His high view of the scriptures and had said that His life and ministry would not contradict anything that the people had been taught in the Old Testament. Fourth, He had showed His deity by presenting a higher lifestyle on such matters as anger, adultery, divorce, making oaths, self-sacrifice, and dealing with one's enemies. In the second part of His sermon, He had given advice about how the saints of God should conduct their life. He had criticized the scribes and Pharisees because of their hypocritical giving and their long public prayers. He had also taught His listeners how they should pray. He had spoken to them about the importance of forgiving others because forgiven people should be forgiving people. He had then concluded the second part of His sermon by saying how important it is to put the Lord first in all things. Godly people should use their time, talent, and resources in ways that will accomplish the Lord's Will in their life. That means that they should be concerned about those who will leave this existence not saved because that was and is the major concern of the Lord. It was for that reason that He had died on the cross. Finally in being consistent with that idea of serving the Lord and of doing His Will is also the idea that one would be much wiser serving Him than chasing all of the meaningless, temporal pursuits of this life. In the third part of His ...

Overcoming Through God (Life in Christ) by Joan Boney 5.0 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Before I was born again in 1975, I owned a business in American Indian Arts. A man came into my shop looking for art objects that contained "special powers". I told this man there is a special power but it is not in any art object. Power is in God, the creator of heaven and earth. ***** Jesus left a commission to "overcome", cited in Revelation 2-3, to each of the 7 churches. We overcome through God each time God reveals to us a word from HIS Spirit and we apply that word properly to our lives. The gates of hell cannot stand against that word revealed by God through HIS spirit to us. However, the Holy Spirit does not make us do anything. It is up to us to learn to recognize the Holy Spirit when HE speaks and choose to follow HIM, doing as HE instructs from God. By this, we overcome as we live on this present earth. This is the subject of this book: Overcoming Through God Joan Boney

Exorcism Prayers: Mighty Prayers Against the Forces of Evil. by Rev. Jones Garcia 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

The terms exorcism, hiding or concealment (in Greek: exorkismos, "act of swearing", in Latin: exorcismu) designate the ritual performed by a person duly authorized to cast out evil spirits (or demons) from another person who is in a state of demonic possession. It can also designate the act of expelling demons through prayers and hiding (imprecations). In Christianity, the Gospel often reports episodes in which Jesus Christ casts out the demon from possessed people, this power having been transmitted to his apostles on the day of Ascension, however the practice or similar practices are quite ancient and are part of the belief system of many cultures and religions. Jesus Christ was already telling his disciples about exorcism: "And these signs shall follow those who believe: In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak new tongues; "They shall take up the serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall do them no harm; and they shall lay their hands upon the sick, and heal them. ". (Mark 16:17,18)

Doubting Jesus' Resurrection: What Happened in the Black Box? by Kris Komarnitsky 4.1 Stars (52 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

This book begins at the Bible's account of a discovered empty tomb three days after Jesus' death. Considering scholarship from both sides of the aisle, it explains why there is good reason to conclude that this tradition is a legend. Following up on this possibility, this book turns its attention to the earliest recorded Christian beliefs that Jesus was raised on the third day and that he appeared to many people. Covering many topics often encountered in discussions about Jesus' resurrection, this book proposes an answer to the question: What plausibly could have caused the rise of these extraordinary beliefs if there never was a discovered empty tomb and Jesus did not actually rise from the dead?

The Nourished Soul: Nurturing Your Mind to Grow Unending Health and Happiness by Paul Gautschi (Home of Love Publications) 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 8 hours ago

"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right." ? Henry Ford "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." ? Hebrews 11:1 NKJV If these two quotes are accurate and most would agree that they are, then what is blocking many broken souls from enjoying the richness of vibrant health and happiness? Is it their belief systems or patterns of thinking? Often, the answer is yes. During all your years of schooling, were you ever offered a course on developing thinking patterns that would enable you to live in a state of health and happiness? It is here now. Built upon the dual foundations of Scripture and Neural Science, the collected expertise unveiled upon the following pages took nearly thirty years to decipher, test, and assemble. Although this book came through two different men, the content is inspired by one Source; our great God of love. This book is not about eliminating every struggle and trial in your life but enlisting both the good and the challenging events to empower upward growth. Your soul is a garden. Galatians 5:22-23 These are the crops that will enrich your life and enable you to prosper during the good, the bad, and the ugly experiences of your earth-bound journey. Your faith will grow firmly in the Spirit's soil of power, love, and self-discipline. Especially amidst the pains and struggles that come your way in this life's once-in-forever opportunity. The great news is that life on earth provides many necessary difficulties. These you will come to know as health enabling vehicles. As Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology, declared, "Man needs difficulties; they are necessary for health." Remember, this is your journey. Only you can make your journey a glorious revelation of the love that heals. ...

The Gospel According to Elisha: A Commentary on the Life of Elisha in 1 and 2 Kings (Biblical Studies Book 7) by John Legg 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 33 minutes ago

The life of the prophet Elisha, though less dramatic and confrontational than that of Elijah, is filled with powerful miraculous signs, fiery horses and chariots, and moving events in which the LORD rescues his people, defeats their enemies, and teaches us about himself. This commentary demonstrates how Elisha stands out as a clear 'type' of Christ. The prophet prepares us for the arrival of the Messiah and gives us detailed insight into Jesus' ministry hundreds of years before he came. This not only confirms God's intentional sending of his Son into the world but also deepens our understanding and appreciation of his good news of salvation. The Gospel According to Elisha is warm, expository and applied to everyday and church life.

IN TUNE WITH LIFE, LOVE AND THE DIVINE MATRIX by Marie-Anne Bisson 4.8 Stars (13 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

Travel along on the author's journey in this memoir, as she discovers her authentic self and you discover yours. There is a commonality with those who have floated on the same river of life and struggled to stay afloat; those who may have been molested, abused, struggled with addictions and with the challenging experiences life provides. There are those who may have questioned their own sanity about their inconceivable experiences with the paranormal. This book guides you through the evolution of human consciousness. It teaches awareness, self-love and love for others, forgiveness, compassion and about releasing fear. The author encourages readers to listen to their inner voice and step out of the box or the paradigm society created, and offers self-help rituals on how to clear and release that which no longer benefits them. She includes personal channels from her multi-dimensional, intergalactic guides she refers to as her Mates and the Galactic Council. In her fifties, Marie-Anne is still evolving. There is no one-pill fix to repair or remedy a lifetime of experiences. Life is a journey without markers. We wouldn't place a child in kindergarten straight into grade 12; they would miss out on all the pertinent knowledge and tools they require. This book describes the spiritual and emotional growth learnt from her personal experiences and through her clients, all which help readers apply this knowledge and bring transformation to their own lives. It explores the power of combined sexual and psychic energy, and sensuality it brings to relationships. Awareness and spirituality saved her; it shifted her perception and helped her cope and embrace this three-dimensional earthly experience within the matrix that we are all interconnected.

Hundreds of Reflections: 100 Psalms Explored in 100 Words by Kirk Adams 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Hundreds of Reflections: 100 Psalms Explored in 100 Words is a short piece of biblical analysis in which the author examines short passages from the Psalms both in light of what they explicitly teach and what they necessarily imply about God and his religion when considered in a broader cultural and religious context. Each passage is explored in exactly one hundred words to ensure a succinct and focused review. [Excerpt] Psalm 2:1. Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? It is striking how separated biblical religion is from the superstition of the ancient world. Nowhere does Scripture declare the gods of Greece or Egypt to possess effective power; the Bible claims only that God exercises authority they do not. Incidents of supernatural activity are rare and entire generations passed without miracle or angelic appearance. Pious Israelites did not plead for deliverance from the evil eye or witch's curse, but from the raging of human enemies -- domestic and foreign -- believed to be the instruments of evil. Scripture curses the potentate who uses his power to effect false religion and oppression.

Acts of the Apostles A Greek, Latin and English Parallel Text: Aid for Adults to the Easier Learning of the Classical Languages (Greek and Latin ... by Sean Gabb 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

This book puts you straight into the actual literature of Greek and Latin, and provides an English translation. Follow my advice to read either or both of these languages in a few months. If you want to learn Latin, you should first get hold of the shortest Latin grammar you can find. You must read through this, to get an overview. Do not try memorise the declensions and conjugations. The most you need is a vague awareness of how things like accusative cases and present participles look, and enough of an overview to know where to look if the English is not clear enough as a key to the grammar of the Latin. It is only when you start looking up particular issues that you should pay attention to things like ablative absolutes and subjunctives. Do not try in advance to learn the grammar. It is to be consulted not committed to memory. You now begin with 1:1 -- "primum quidem sermonem feci de omnibus o Theophile quae coepit Iesus facere et docere." Read it aloud so that you can familiarise yourself with the sound of the language. You then turn to the English -- "The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach." You puzzle out the Latin. "Primum" and "sermonem" you can guess from their English derivatives mean "former treatise." You may recall from your skimming of the grammar that nouns ending in m are likely to be direct objects. "Feci" seems to correspond with "have I made." "Omnibus" is used in English to mean the whole of something, and so probably means "all." "O Theophile" explains itself, though you may look in your grammar to confirm that it is a vocative case -- that is, a form showing that someone is being spoken to. And so you continue, corresponding Latin to English by guesswork or by looking for English derivatives. Once you have finished with the first three verses, you commit them in both Latin and English to memory. This is not as hard as it sounds. What you have here is a text with an overall meaning. It ...

A Practical Guide to Losing Your Religion by Nathanial Gronewold 5.0 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

A self-help guide of an unusual sort, "A Practical Guide to Losing Your Religion" is designed for one specific person in mind: someone who is interested in finding a new path away from traditional spirituality but unsure of where to begin. Let's face it, the vast majority of us have endured some kind of childhood religious indoctrination, programming that imprints into our brains certain "facts" regarding life, the universe, and who or what is in control of the whole thing. But the people doing this programming really didn't know what they were talking about, in all honesty. How about a reboot? What if we could do it all over again, sort of 'deprogram' ourselves, and learn how to ignore the popes, potentates, prophets, gurus, and other noise makers, and learn instead to focus on what's important, or what's real? "A Practical Guide to Losing Your Religion" offers no alternative organized path forward nor any new life compass to follow. This is merely a do-over, a chance to return to a blank slate, one to be filled however you prefer, on your terms. This is a simple, straightforward guidebook for working traditional conceptualizations of faith out of your head, leaving you with the freedom and, hopefully, the courage to replace all that with something much better. The rest is up to you. Originally published as "The Prophet Phenomenon".

Understanding How To Truly Be Saved by James Thomas Lee Jr 5.0 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Many people may find this text offensive. But my desire for many years has been to understand why so many people who regularly attend church do not get more involved in the church's ministries. While not everyone will agree with my general conclusion, it is that most of those individuals are probably not really saved. I do not want to be a judge or sound judgmental. But the simple fact is that the Bible teaches throughout that the Christian is a life of ministry and service for the Lord by the true followers of Christ. So as will be discussed in the following pages, one of my conclusions is that the template types of prayer for salvation that many people are usually told to repeat do not work. Because of that, I have tried to explain what does work and how saved people actually got saved. In my opinion, true biblical salvation does not result from repeating the simple words of a simple prayer. It only occurs when sincere people truly seek the Lord with all of their heart, when they commit or give themselves to Him, when they trust in Him, and when they enter into a personal relationship with Him. Anything less than those things is probably not true biblical salvation. This is a very short text that should not take long to read. In writing it, my goal has not been to bring into question anyone's profession of faith in Christ. But it has been to encourage all people to examine themselves to be sure that they are in the Faith. My overall objective, as always, has been to present to the best of my ability the truth of the scriptures and to also tell others how to not die lost. In my opinion, hades is already full enough. There is one note, however, to be made with respect to the organization of this text. Something that the reader of this text might find useful is boxes that show the different passages that are being referenced at the times and in the places where they are being referenced. That way, he or she will not have to jump all over the place or get into or ...

The Haunted House: A True Ghost Story by Walter Hubbell 3.7 Stars (3,318 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

The blood-chilling true story of a nineteenth-century girl's terrifying and bewildering haunting First published in 1879, The Haunted House: A True Ghost Story is the author's account of the infamous haunting of eighteen-year-old Esther Cox, who lived with her extended family in Amherst, Nova Scotia -- a beautiful, peaceful little village, population three thousand -- during the late 1800s. Walter Hubbell stayed with the family for six weeks, during which he witnessed a variety of alternately compelling and terrifying paranormal and unexplained events. As he describes these manifestations: No person has yet been able to ascertain their cause. Scientific men from all parts of Canada and the United States have investigated them in vain. Some people think that electricity is the principal agent; others, mesmerism; whilst others again, are sure they are produced by the devil. Of the three supposed causes, the latter is certainly the most plausible theory, for some of the manifestations are remarkably devilish in their appearance and effect. For instance, the mysterious setting of fires, the powerful shaking of the house, the loud and incessant noises and distinct knocking, as if made by invisible sledge-hammers, on the walls; also, the strange actions of the household furniture, which moves about in the broad daylight without the slightest visible cause. This ebook has been professionally proofread to ensure accuracy and readability on all devices.

Throughout Christian history, when people sought to deepen their relationship with God they went into the desert. They pursued isolation. People who go to their wilderness place are imitating Jesus in his isolation. There are many times in the gospels where Jesus deliberately removes himself from people. He disappears off to a deserted place to pray (Mark 1.32). He dismisses the crowds and goes up a mountain on his own (Matthew 14.23). He sits by a well in the desert (John 4.5). He prays on his own on the night before his death (Luke 22.41). To walk in the wilderness is to be willing to have our lives stripped back; to go without; to slow down; to empty ourselves in order that God might work in us. Sometimes circumstances do the stripping back for us and sometimes we do it ourselves by choosing Lenten disciplines. Lent is the time we remember Jesus' wandering through the wilderness. We all ...

When it is your turn!: The Interplay of time and Inspiration in fulfilling purpose and destiny by Christian Benjamin 4.7 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 27 minutes ago

If you get that breakthrough you have been praying for too early, you may not be able to handle it. It could even result into what you never bargained for. Some of your school mates may even marry years before you but their marriages have no business with yours in any way, you are not into any competition with them, you have your own time! The good things of life never get finished; on the contrary, even the best things still get better. If you do not have a house of your own, not to worry, you may soon land the latest house in town. Are you worried that your contemporaries all have jobs and none for you? Your job will be better than theirs in its time, not to worry. All things work with time. The best things of yesterday are nowhere to reckon with today, so, why worry? Had the Butler remembered and told Pharaoh about Joseph as Joseph requested him to do, Pharaoh might have released Joseph! If that had happened, Joseph might have left the prison too early! Earlier than God had planned for him and if that had happened, all of the visions and dreams of Joseph, the plan of God both for him and the nation of Israel, all would have been truncated! You know why? At best, being released from prison, he could have been set free to go back to his father to go and narrate to his father about his journey of life from the day he went to visit his brothers, his slavery, imprisonment, ordeals, sufferings in Egypt etc. That was not the plan of God for Joseph! It took two full years of the Butler forgetting Joseph in prison for two things to happen: 1. Joseph acquired the complete training and maturity that God needed him to acquire before his manifestation! (Some people have manifested too early and ended up slumping into ignominy!) 2. The timing for the incident that was to bring Joseph into manifestation had to fully come. (If the incident that will bring you into manifestation occurs too early when you will not be in connection with its relevance, you ...

GOD IS SPEAKING: Complete Series In One Volume by Andrew Ripley 4.7 Stars (91 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

This book combines the three volumes of the GOD IS SPEAKING series into one volume. GOD IS SPEAKING 1 (FATHER, SON & HOLY SPIRIT) is the first of a three-part series describing what God has spoken to us all through His word, the Bible. Presenting Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, He has spoken many things to mankind. What specifically does He say as God the Father, as God the Son, and as God the Spirit? How does God interact with His people as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit?GOD IS SPEAKING 2 (THE BIBLE, PROPHETS & PREACHERS) is the second book of a three-part series describing what God has spoken to us through His word, the Bible. The Bible which He has provided for us is the main way in which God communicates His special message to the people He has created. Historically, God has used chosen men (Prophets & Preachers) to preach and interpret His word to us. It is vital to us that we learn to take in the word of God as our daily spiritual food, through reading and through hearing these chosen men of God preach and teach to us from His word.GOD IS SPEAKING 3 (VISIONS, DREAMS & VOICES) is the third book of a three-part series describing what God has spoken to us through His word, the Bible. In the Bible eras, certain chosen men received information from God through visions and dreams. These great visions and dreams are written out for us to see in the Bible. They are often breath-taking in their beauty, dreadful in their declarations of judgement, and stunning in their prophetic accuracy. At different times and in different circumstances, God has chosen to speak to His people in different voices; sometimes He has spoken to us with the voice of our father, with the voice of our husband, or with the voice of our judge. Does God still use visions and dreams today? Does He still speak to different people with different voices? These and other questions ate explored in this book.
