The Many Shades of Midnight (Tales of Isyr Book 1) by C M Debell 4.5 Stars (49 Reviews)    Price verified one minute ago

A plague of monsters. A deadly conspiracy. A truth that will shatter the world. Isyr. Stronger, brighter, more beautiful than other metals. Once the most desirable thing in Ellasia, now it is priceless, the pure Isyrium needed to produce it mined to exhaustion. What's left is controlled by the powerful mining syndicates, and such is the demand for their Isyrium that even kings do their bidding. Yet just as the beauty of Isyr hides a deadly secret, so too do the syndicates. A terrifying enemy is spreading a plague across the land, a sickness that kills or transforms everything it touches. Unable to contain the outbreaks, the King of Lankara begs the aid of his disgraced former military commander, Alyas-Raine Sera, a man who has spent years fighting syndicate expansion and whose resentment over his exile makes him an unpredictable, dangerous ally in the power struggle between the rulers of Ellasia and the mining companies. Attached to the envoy to recall Alyas, the apprentice surgeon Brivar finds his skills and loyalty tested as his service to his new patron uncovers secrets about Isyr and the plague that link it to the mining of Isyrium - and threaten the life of the man it is his duty to safeguard. In their own separate ways, Alyas and Brivar must take on the might of the syndicates and confront the greed, murder, betrayal and impossible choices of a crisis that has been decades in the making - and the price of their failure could be everyone and everything. The Many Shades of Midnight is a gritty political fantasy about friendship, sacrifice, and the fight for survival in a world where greed drives everything and no one can be trusted. If you enjoy complex characters, intricate world-building, and high-stakes intrigue, you'll love this standalone grimdark fantasy.

Teddy Roosevelt's Goblin: A Bigfoot Story by Joe IDAHO (Kopiisto Publishing LLC) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified one minute ago

Previously published as "Teddy Roosevelt's Goblin" by Samuel Smith. TEDDY ROOSEVELT and his hunting companions battle a creature unlike anything they've encountered. The year is 1888. Teddy Roosevelt is twenty-nine, vigorous, and an avid hunter. Donning buckskins and carrying a repeating rifle, he's tracked and killed nearly every big game species in the continental United States. Now, he's after caribou. They say the last herd roams the high meadows of the Idaho Territory's Selkurk Mountains. Determined to fulfill his lifelong dream, Roosevelt organizes a hunting party and travels deep into the unforgiving wilderness. The game is plentiful, and the caribou are close. It's the perfect hunt until strange things start happening. A series of loud knocking sounds echo through the night. In the morning, a gravely injured mule stumbles into camp, followed by three distraught miners. The terrified miners tell of a giant beast capable of ripping men and mules to shreds. It's killed four of their friends and six mules. And it's still out there hunting them. Old Bauman, the grizzled, weather-beaten, former mountain man now serving as camp cook, has seen this before. Years ago, one of these beasts killed his trapping partner and scared Old Bauman from the mountains. He calls it a Goblin. Intrigued by the old man's story, Roosevelt has to investigate for himself. He will not be kept from the caribou by superstition or fear. Roosevelt is a civilized man, a practical and modern sporting man. There is nothing in the forest he cannot kill with his guns. But things aren't what they seem. This isn't your typical Bigfoot story. In a desperate final confrontation, Teddy Roosevelt's goblin will be revealed. If you're a fan of suspenseful stories that blend history and adventure with folklore and myth, then you won't want to miss this riveting novel.

How can a young wizard find his way in life without guidance? Joramm's troubles did not end after Kreltahk's defeat at Riyahm. The older wizards who fought and died by his side left him with tremendous power, but they had no time to share the knowledge and wisdom he would need to use it effectively. Joramm seeks answers as he wanders alone in the ruined kingdom. He seeks hope for his future. Most of all, he seeks peace. All of these things evade him. With rumors flying that the king died in Kreltahk's final attack on the kingdom, local lords see an opportunity for conquest. Lord Jilarke is eager to make Konag the new seat of power. Unlike the king and queen in Madarre, who had shown their distrust in wizards even before Kreltahk fell in battle, Lord Jilarke welcomes the use of magic to crush his enemies and become the new king. As the threat of new war rises, Joramm must decide his path. He can flee and possibly never find the answers he seeks. Or he can stay, fight to protect the kingdom, and possibly never find the peace he seeks. Once again, the fate of the kingdom may rest in the hands of a boy from a remote fishing village.

Run. (Wulver Rising Book 1) by Lydia Maine (Lydia Maine Publishing) 4.7 Stars (12 Reviews)    Price verified one minute ago

Lya I run. It's just who I am. Whenever things get tough, I bail. Every new situation I find myself in, I have an exit strategy. Because I know what could happen if I don't. Things are about to get bad, and I don't understand how or why. I'm in a new place, with no pre-existing connections. I've developed a life for myself where no one could suspect a thing out of the ordinary. I fit in - or at least try to. But here I am, ready to run. Let's just hope I do so in time. *** Oliver I didn't ask to be in these shoes. In fact, I was thoroughly looking forward to a life of little more than personal responsibility. I never saw my future tied to this place, no matter how much it is a part of me. The responsibility was thrust upon me, and with no one else left to step up, I had no choice. These are my people - my family - and this is my home. I couldn't turn my back, even if I wanted to. That's a type of betrayal I would never be able to stomach. Any semblance of my plans years ago have fallen by the wayside, but that's just the nature of the beast - and I am the beast. Times are changing. I can feel it in my bones. I just hope we are ready, and I am capable of protecting those that are relying on me.

The Forge... It's not a place that gives anyone the warm and fuzzies. No, The Forge is a dungeon mine that used to be home to the Deep Mountain Clan of dwarves. Then the orcs took control of it and forced the dwarves out. Now it's a death sentence to any who try to voyage into its dark depths. That's where I come in. No, I'm not some sort of soldier or mercenary trying to set things right. I'm a thief. And I've plundered many dungeons -- enough to have earned a reputation for myself. I'm good at what I do and that's the exact reason why I've been hired by holy knight, Cade, to take him into the bowels of The Forge. Cade was entrusted by his higher-up to retrieve a holy scroll, located in the belly of The Forge. The only problem (aside from the territorial orcs, the nightmarish beasts that roam the tunnels and shafts, and the fact that no one has ever reached the final level of The Forge) is... My ex-boyfriend, Aram. Right. So, this isn't one of my prouder moments, but a long time ago, Aram and I were together. Then I stole something precious from him and he's been after me ever since. Well, you know what they say about karma... My karma finally caught up to me when Aram staged a setup and I fell for the bait. Imagine Aram's irritation when he finally gets the chance to arrest me, but then Cade shows up with this quest. Even though Aram is a Justiciar, an enforcer of the law, Cade's rank trumps Aram's which means Cade's word goes. And Cade wants me to lead this expedition. As I see it, I have two choices: rot inside a jail cell for the rest of my life or take my chances in The Forge, with the potential to earn my freedom. I choose The Forge. After all, I'm always up for an adventure. Click BUY NOW or READ FOR FREE to start the Dungeon Raider fantasy series today!

Mining For Teeth (Wilstrom Territories Book 1) by Mark Nordlund (Boohouse Books) 4.7 Stars (7 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

On a newly-discovered continent, settlers find themselves plagued by demons, snake-like leviathans and nocturnal man-eaters. Drifters are found mutilated, children disappear and farms are bludgeoned by curses as each of the new world's major cities issue bounties for the monstrosities responsible. Skilled trappers and huntsmen come to find that the process by which to bring down each entity is exceedingly bizarre and takes far more skill and research than imagined. However, when the first of these behemoths is bested and killed, the remains yield a mineral so rare and exquisite, its value quickly surpasses silver and gold as more of the giants fall. A gold rush of beast slaying breaks out as prospectors replace picks and pans for swords and revolvers in hopes of obtaining the ivory treasure. Two outcasts find themselves thrust into the game of blood and riches as they hunt monsters, opponents and each other. Find this publication and others at boohousebooks.com

The Second Sun: Volumes I & II by Kristof Morrow 4.5 Stars (30 Reviews)    Price verified 31 minutes ago

The plot of The Second Sun is an allegory for the financial inequality between the older and younger generations. There's an island paradise where there's elders living a second life after retiring from their human forms, and live amongst their chosen few, who also live for thousands of years in relative peace. However, only those welcome can actually approach the island and survive. Everyone else on earth is made to endure a game of thrones type world, except I omitted much of the overt cruelty you find in that series. I also forgo the notions of racism and sexism. l wanted to adopt the spirit of Tolkien, but expand that virtue of "anyone, no matter how small, can achieve great things," to every kind of human so it feels to be an adventure for everyone! I was diagnosed with Tourette's when I was 27, and so it's developed my understanding of the theft of agency and being marginalized for something I cannot control. It's also structured similarly to game of thrones, in that the first three chapters are different parts of the world with different characters, and you learn how they are related as the story progresses. The Second Sun is, above all things, an adventure made animate by hundreds of distinct characters across half a world, written to confess through prose and tale our tendencies poisoned by Dickensian bleakness, and to wholly ameliorate that cynicism by the light and courage of those who live and labor for a just peace.

Naimisha - God's Own Story - The Middle Game : Moves & Counter Moves by Sesha (Notion Press) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified one hour ago

MOVES & COUNTERMOVES Animish, the disciple teetering between scepticism and awe around Krishna's divinity, inherits his Master's mantle as the latter proceeds to Badari to pursue his self-realisation goals. Asareer's belief solidifies, and divine anecdotes about Krishna continue to enthral him. While the chasm between the viewpoints of both friends keeps widening, Krishna attains a God-like stature and comes to be feared by his opponents and revered by his devotees and sages alike. Meanwhile, rivalries explode between cousins. Kauravas, led by the determined Duryodhana, manipulate the king to their advantage while Pandavas fight for survival. Draupadi's entrance, forging a solid alliance between Pandavas and the powerful Panchala kingdom, adds a new twist to the story. And, through it all, the enigmatic Krishna emerges as the central figure, unfolding his own fascinating tryst with destiny. The game of one-up-manship between Kauavas and Pandavas, which resembled the opening stage of a chess game to Animish during the graduation ceremony of princes, moves into the next stage, the middle game. Kauravas and Pandavas were entangled in a prolonged fight over the chessboard of fate, with advantage shifting back and forth like in a bitter middle game of chess that does not produce a clear winner. Find inside the dramatic events of Krishna's battles with Jarasandha, the setting up of the Dwaraka kingdom, Draupadi's Swayamvara and her unconventional polyandrous marriage, the rise and fall of Indraprastha Empire, multiple marriages and battles of Krishna, the fortune-turning dice game where a wife was put on stake, and a host of other exciting events. Join Animish and Asareer, two good friends who disagree on matters of faith, to watch the enthralling moves and countermoves in the intricate middle phase of the story and analyse for yourself which moves are blunders and which ones are brilliancies. What did destiny ordain for the kings who thought they were players ...

The First Dryad (The First Collection) by Teshelle Combs 4.6 Stars (313 Reviews)    Price verified one minute ago

Do you love stories that break your heart and piece it together again? Do you adore tales of forbidden love and magic that tear at your soul? Do you fall for couples in fantasy books that haunt your dreams long after the book is closed? The First Dryad... Aia spent her life in hiding... until her secret was discovered and she was taken to the Palace in chains. Now, among the last crop of an ancient arboreal race, she will have to prove herself useful to the High Prince to survive. So why is she falling for someone else? How will she survive the path love leads her down? An enchanted, heart-wrenching fairytale-esque romantasy waiting to be devoured. From The Episode Entitled, "What Nightmares Do You Mean?" "You dropped your book," the Second Prince said with a smirk. "Did you do that on purpose, Little Tree?" He folded his ink-stained hands together in front of him, his elbows on the desk. I bent and snatched the book up, clutching it to my chest. "Why would I drop a book on purpose?" He tilted his head. "To appear helpless." "Why would I put so much effort into feigning a state to which I have already fallen victim?" His eyebrows raised, his stormy eyes lightening for a moment. "You are a victim to helplessness?" "Well, I am here in this Palace against my will. And I cannot help myself except to accelerate my own demise if I so chose, which I do not. So yes, I would say I am quite helpless. And so, if I drop a book, it is not some strategy. I am merely nervous. And now you have made fun of me for it." "Hmm... " He picked up his quill after studying me for just a bit and made as if he would write again. But before he touched it to his paper, he looked back up at me, surprised that I still stood before him. "Will you not... go, then, since I have made you so nervous?" I knew how ferociously I blushed, and how my heart squeezed almost to the point beyond beating in my chest, and how my hands gripped the book too tightly. But I could not, for any reason ...
