The Witchhunter's Witch by Quinn BLACKBIRD 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 15 minutes ago

Previously published as 'Witchhunter' by Quinn Blackbird: This is a new edition 'I want to hurt people, those awful, unspectacular humans. But the Hunters... ? Oh, what I wouldn't give to tear them limb from limb.' The land is divided into two, split by the dangerous mountains that cut us into two: Home of the Hunters and the home of the Witches, forever at war. Once, I belonged to the lands where people and Hunters live -- until the Change came and my family whisked me away to the mountains, seeking safety for my rising witchery. They didn't make it beyond the mountains and the Hunters that lurk there, ready to slaughter my kind and anyone who helps us. I made it, though. And I promised on the very day that I was orphaned, I will dedicate my life to the utter destruction of all Hunters across the land, even if it costs me the last breath in my body. ... that final breath seems to be inching closer when a mission to save Witches before the Change goes so terribly wrong, and I wind up a prisoner of a Hunter so beautiful that his face is just asking to be torn apart. I doubt I'll survive what wicked tortures he has in store for me. But he can bet his charming smile that when I go down, I'm taking him with me. Even if it's the last thing I do.

The Wanderings of Joramm (Chronicles of Madarre Book 2) by Stuart J. Whitmore (Crenel Books) 4.8 Stars (6 Reviews)    Price verified 15 minutes ago

How can a young wizard find his way in life without guidance? Joramm's troubles did not end after Kreltahk's defeat at Riyahm. The older wizards who fought and died by his side left him with tremendous power, but they had no time to share the knowledge and wisdom he would need to use it effectively. Joramm seeks answers as he wanders alone in the ruined kingdom. He seeks hope for his future. Most of all, he seeks peace. All of these things evade him. With rumors flying that the king died in Kreltahk's final attack on the kingdom, local lords see an opportunity for conquest. Lord Jilarke is eager to make Konag the new seat of power. Unlike the king and queen in Madarre, who had shown their distrust in wizards even before Kreltahk fell in battle, Lord Jilarke welcomes the use of magic to crush his enemies and become the new king. As the threat of new war rises, Joramm must decide his path. He can flee and possibly never find the answers he seeks. Or he can stay, fight to protect the kingdom, and possibly never find the peace he seeks. Once again, the fate of the kingdom may rest in the hands of a boy from a remote fishing village.

Dark Skies: Storm Knight I by Zachary Watson 4.6 Stars (12 Reviews)    Price verified 15 minutes ago

My name is Ashe, and I'm one of millions of Imperial Conscripts. Like everyone else, I just want to get through my term with as few demerits and as much excitement as possible. That way I'd actually have a good chance to get into a proper Academy, and not have to go with my back-up plan of joining a minor Strike-Wave league as a goalie prospect. You'd think that would be easy, considering how many people manage it all the time. Sadly I've got a disadvantage that not many in the Empire share... I'm Human. Not even halfway through my term of service, and I've already been assigned to more units than most conscripts will in their entire career. If I'm not being mocked for my appearance, I'm not believed when I investigate corruption and problems. All I want is a chance to prove myself, to prove that I'm worthy of joining Imperial Intelligence even before my conscription is over. I may even have a chance on Oshflara; a multi-species colony. Officially a quiet world where the cultures of the Empire can live together in peace, I know better. Any planet with multiple species is one that's got to have plenty of problems, and with problems there could be chances to test myself. With luck it will be the perfect place to root out secrets, discover hidden knowledge, and maybe even impress my new squad. If I can pull it off, it'll show off my investigative skills in the best way possible. If I can't... I can only hope I'll survive it.

Howling Winds: Storm Knight III by Zachary Watson 5.0 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 15 minutes ago

We'd shut down a smuggling operation that spanned from the Empire to the far end of the Near Reaches. Helped destroy a conspiracy's training facility, capturing or killing hundreds of people who'd been working against our nation. All I wanted to do was go home. Rest before our next mission. To help put an end to that project so that we could move on to another. Instead I was drugged, abducted, and shoved into a prison cell aboard a ship. I had no weapons, no armor, no equipment. No way to call for help, no way to tell my pack that I was still alive. That I needed their help. Instead I have a sealed door, gruel for food, and a cellmate I can't understand. I have no idea where we're being taken. Why we were taken. Who else is on this ship with me. All I know is that my luck had better turn around soon, or else I'll be too dead to find the answers to those questions.

A Nameless Curse: Book One of the Realms Curse Duology by G.W. Prouse (ProuseBooks) 4.5 Stars (25 Reviews)    Price verified 15 minutes ago

Felicity is a weapon trained to expose secrets, slit throats, and weaken realms. A fae orphan raised among humans, she's loyal to the guild who trained her. She needs to complete one final mission to be inducted among those who call themselves Master Spy. Ordered to uncover the rebel informants within the king's court, she finds herself amidst the gossip acting as the rakish prince's latest conquest. When her guild returns memories she hadn't known they'd stolen, she questions her reality. But there are more interesting whispers of a dark curse that blurred identities and truths -- and hints that the royal family may be the cause. Forced to question who the real traitors are, she must choose where her loyalty lies. Felicity could align with the prince, who equally frustrates and entices her more than she cares to admit, ignore the king's cruelty, and claim the title she's long coveted. Or damn it all and ally with the ward, a possible rebel who won't, or can't, speak of his past. If she trusts him, then they'll dismantle the kingdom from the inside... and save the continent in the process. Every weapon has a weakness. It's not just her neck on the line -- it's her heart. A Nameless Curse will appeal to fans of Danielle L. Jensen's Bridge Kingdom, Hannah Whitten's For the Wolf, and sweeping Fae worlds. It features a slow-burn romance, only one bed, found family, and other beloved tropes. It's book one of the Realms Curse Duology with the conclusion coming in Spring 2024.

The Lost Knight VI: Einherjar by Zachary Watson 4.9 Stars (14 Reviews)    Price verified 15 minutes ago

There is nothing worse than chasing revenge... and being forced to give up the man you've sworn to kill. Even when you had to do it just to survive. His time would come. But in the aftermath of Zadith, even I could admit we weren't in any shape to go after him. More than a year of constant battle had worn me down to the point where I needed a break. Needed some time to recover, prepare, to figure out just what my partner meant to me. Time to figure out where I fit in the alien pack that has come to mean family. A trip to her homeworld, to Xentha itself, might help with all of those things. Or it'll leave us fighting for our lives against a whole new group of less than friendly people. You know. One or the other. Either way I felt certain that our time was running out. That as the war pushed into its third year, as it kept grinding worlds, fleets, and lives to dust, that sooner or later Krom would get the better of us once again. That he might find a way to kill someone I couldn't lose. That he might win the game he began when he killed people I'd come to love. I didn't know how things would turn out... but I knew that I would die before I let that happen. The next time would be the last time. I'd grab every ally I could. I'd go to any world in the galaxy to find him. I was going to end this once and for all.

The best of us can stand alone. The worst of us choose to do so. Most people on Earth and her nine daughters watch War World and just think it's the best sporting event of all time. The Eris Freedom Initiative wants to change that, but the system in place is oppressive and far-reaching. Above all of them stands War World Entertainment, the company responsible for Eris, where the soldiers die painfully only to be reborn into another cycle of hellish combat. These corporate masters now promote Ryan Jenkins as a hero, but the man dying on those screens is not the same boy from New Chicago. Behaviorally-modified, he has become a sociopath who enjoys killing, a hero for all the wrong reasons. That's why the Eris Freedom Initiative is planning to bring the real Ryan Jenkins back. But can humanity rely on a man who killed himself?

They also have to devise a way of defeating the Federation, which has a space-going navy capable of suppressing colony planets whose technology is vastly superior to Xeon's. In their planning they can draw on the resources of their ship's artificial mind, the AM Kodin, but ultimately success will depend up on Siian's capabilities as a human/Guardian cross. One of their first tasks is to end the threat posed to the colonists by the Nyohite, the army of warriors raised by the crazed Guardian, Teth, who is hell bent on revenge for the colonists' ancestors murdering her fellow Guardians and injuring her terribly. "... "Guardian Teth," Y'leta spoke softly, "show yourself." "I will do so, merchanteer Y'leta, when you, rather than your machine stand in my room." The Guardian's voice was thick. distorted, more a croak than clearly articulated words. Y'leta had to listen closely to make out what she was saying. "I would do so, but I do not wish to provoke a pointless attack from your people. Enough have died already. I have with me sixty nine survivors from the ambush on Lord Kargon's party. They are all that remains." "More than I expected," the Guardian replied softly. "I had counted the whole party lost when they failed to return. Why do you hesitate to come? I know you are not vulnerable to my people's spears." "I will come, Guardian. But I tell you plainly I do not like what I see about me here. You doubtless have some weaponry of your own with you. You will guarantee me my safety. Kodin, our AM, will record everything that passes between us. If I feel threatened in any way, I will not hesitate to take appropriate measures." "I care nothing for your judgements or your threats, merchanteer Y'leta. My duty and yours is to the Federation. If you are honourable, you are quite safe with me. ...

Lya I run. It's just who I am. Whenever things get tough, I bail. Every new situation I find myself in, I have an exit strategy. Because I know what could happen if I don't. Things are about to get bad, and I don't understand how or why. I'm in a new place, with no pre-existing connections. I've developed a life for myself where no one could suspect a thing out of the ordinary. I fit in - or at least try to. But here I am, ready to run. Let's just hope I do so in time. *** Oliver I didn't ask to be in these shoes. In fact, I was thoroughly looking forward to a life of little more than personal responsibility. These are my people - my family - and this is my home. I couldn't turn my back, even if I wanted to. That's a type of betrayal I would never be able to stomach. Any semblance of my plans years ago have fallen by the wayside, but that's just the nature of the beast - and I am the beast. Times are changing. I can feel it in my bones. I just hope we are ready, and I am capable of protecting those that are relying on me.

The Forge... It's not a place that gives anyone the warm and fuzzies. No, The Forge is a dungeon mine that used to be home to the Deep Mountain Clan of dwarves. Then the orcs took control of it and forced the dwarves out. Now it's a death sentence to any who try to voyage into its dark depths. That's where I come in. No, I'm not some sort of soldier or mercenary trying to set things right. I'm a thief. And I've plundered many dungeons -- enough to have earned a reputation for myself. I'm good at what I do and that's the exact reason why I've been hired by holy knight, Cade, to take him into the bowels of The Forge. Cade was entrusted by his higher-up to retrieve a holy scroll, located in the belly of The Forge. The only problem (aside from the territorial orcs, the nightmarish beasts that roam the tunnels and shafts, and the fact that no one has ever reached the final level of The Forge) is... My ex-boyfriend, Aram. Right. So, this isn't one of my prouder moments, but a long time ago, Aram and I were together. Then I stole something precious from him and he's been after me ever since. Well, you know what they say about karma... My karma finally caught up to me when Aram staged a setup and I fell for the bait. Imagine Aram's irritation when he finally gets the chance to arrest me, but then Cade shows up with this quest. Even though Aram is a Justiciar, an enforcer of the law, Cade's rank trumps Aram's which means Cade's word goes. And Cade wants me to lead this expedition. As I see it, I have two choices: rot inside a jail cell for the rest of my life or take my chances in The Forge, with the potential to earn my freedom. I choose The Forge. After all, I'm always up for an adventure. Click BUY NOW or READ FOR FREE to start the Dungeon Raider fantasy series today!

Mads Michaels is a former technology news anchor hounded out of her job following the disastrous moment she attempted to interview the first human-level AI. You'll still find the picture of her holding a microphone up to a beige box trending from time to time, albeit appropriated to mock the blooper of the day. Mads is living in a trailer park when Project Red track her down and convince her to revive her career by becoming one of the first group of humans sent to Mars. But what Mads isn't aware of is that the planning behind this mission has attracted suspicion, with a jilted man she had a brief relationship with desperate to reveal the identity of a shadowy backer, who's never even heard of the project. When the life craft veers from its planned trajectory on day 40 and heads for the mineral rich asteroid belt, it's clear to mission control that something is going wrong. Can Mads work out that her presence on the mission is not such a coincidence in time to save all the viewers back home?

Feynman & Boyd: Volume 2 : Bermuda by J.C.S. Wilson (The Rattling Page) 4.8 Stars (6 Reviews)    Price verified 6 hours ago

"... a solid and satisfying follow-on to the unique Volume 1... ""... these volumes have history and light science fiction set in an alternative, dystopian existence brought on by humanity's chase for a quick nuclear solution to world war II.""... Feynman and Boyd finally come together. Good read. There better be a volume three coming. "- GoodreadsSitting alone in his truck, Richard Feynman watches the Trinity Test fail. A year later, months after the celebrations that follow the end of World War Two, Lottie Boyd drifts alone on the Atlantic with a sniper rifle over her lap, one of the few to have escaped the Silent Zones. The fear that a large scale nuclear event would kick off a chain reaction of much more stable elements going into a fisson-state, burning the planet away, was real in the formative years of atomic testing. In Feynman and Boyd, the reverse occurs. The Trinity test fails due to a previously unidentified counter-reaction, where something in the natural world snuffs out combustion. The dusty by-product of this reaction, nicknamed "Deaden," is found to stabilize any combustible form, rendering weapons useless. The Manhattan Project quickly becomes a facility for creating Deaden. It is this anti-weapon that wins World War II. Within weeks of discovering Deaden, and using controlled reactions to manufacture it, it's then discovered that Deaden eventually also stops cellular combustion, killing every surrounding living thing. These areas are the Silent Zones. Despite this, manufacturing keeps being developed, and a massive, singular Silent Zone befalls most of the world, killing most living things in it's grip. Most.Lottie Boyd is in her twenties, a chronically ill woman whose illness has made her immune to the suffocation of Deaden. She has struck out for warmer climate after everyone and everything she has ever known has been killed. She sails on her father's sailboat, the Slocum, a replica of Joshua Slocum's Spray. The novel follows Lottie down the ...

The Second Sun: Volumes I & II by Kristof Morrow 4.5 Stars (30 Reviews)    Price verified 44 minutes ago

The plot of The Second Sun is an allegory for the financial inequality between the older and younger generations. There's an island paradise where there's elders living a second life after retiring from their human forms, and live amongst their chosen few, who also live for thousands of years in relative peace. However, only those welcome can actually approach the island and survive. Everyone else on earth is made to endure a game of thrones type world, except I omitted much of the overt cruelty you find in that series. I also forgo the notions of racism and sexism. l wanted to adopt the spirit of Tolkien, but expand that virtue of "anyone, no matter how small, can achieve great things," to every kind of human so it feels to be an adventure for everyone! I was diagnosed with Tourette's when I was 27, and so it's developed my understanding of the theft of agency and being marginalized for something I cannot control. It's also structured similarly to game of thrones, in that the first three chapters are different parts of the world with different characters, and you learn how they are related as the story progresses. The Second Sun is, above all things, an adventure made animate by hundreds of distinct characters across half a world, written to confess through prose and tale our tendencies poisoned by Dickensian bleakness, and to wholly ameliorate that cynicism by the light and courage of those who live and labor for a just peace.
