Tempest: Geometries of Play (Landmark Video Games) by Judd Ethan Ruggill (University of Michigan Press) 4.2 Stars (6 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

Atari's 1981 arcade hit Tempest was a "tube shooter" built around glowing, vector-based geometric shapes. Among its many important contributions to both game and cultural history, Tempest was one of the first commercial titles to allow players to choose the game's initial play difficulty (a system Atari dubbed "SkillStep"), a feature that has since became standard for games of all types. Tempest was also one of the most aesthetically impactful games of the twentieth century, lending its crisp, vector aesthetic to many subsequent movies, television shows, and video games. In this book, Ruggill and McAllister enumerate and analyze Tempest's landmark qualities, exploring the game's aesthetics, development context, and connections to and impact on video game history and culture. By describing the game in technical, historical, and ludic detail, they unpack the game's latent and manifest audio-visual iconography and the ideological meanings this iconography evokes.

The Art of DSP: An innovative introduction to DSP by Chris Bore (BORES Signal Processing) 4.3 Stars (8 Reviews)    Price verified 14 hours ago

This book is about DSP - Digital Signal Processing. DSP used to be a specialist subject but now most engineers and scientists - and many in other fields such as finance - will use it at some time. Signals are used everywhere and almost all processing is now digital, so knowing about DSP is essential. DSP is often presented mathematically as an academic subject: but in practice you are not usually asked to derive or prove the mathematical tools, but to apply them. You need to understand what the tools do, their limitations, and how to use them. DSP is an art: the expression of human creativity and imagination applied to design and to apply tools that shape the world in ways that are themselves works of art. The tools of this art are mathematics, analysis and programming. This eBook focuses on "The Art of DSP": learning the tools with understanding and intuition; using them with skill and ingenuity; applying them with imagination and creativity; and crafting with them in a careful, diligent way that is informed by practical reality. This is not a text book or a reference. Nor does it teach programming or the maths of DSP. Its aim is to give you a basic and intuitive understanding that will inform your application of the tools, not to provide you with answers to exam questions. This eBook - written specifically for the Amazon Kindle - is meant to be read as you would a novel: starting at the beginning, reading through in sequence, following the narrative. Not stopping to make notes, nor working through exercises or assignments, just reading it for enjoyment and to gain a first understanding of the subject.

Web Writing: Why and How for Liberal Arts Teaching and Learning (Digital Humanities) by Jack Dougherty 5.0 Stars (5 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

The essays in Web Writing respond to contemporary debates over the proper role of the Internet in higher education, steering a middle course between polarized attitudes that often dominate the conversation. The authors argue for the wise integration of web tools into what the liberal arts does best: writing across the curriculum. All academic disciplines value clear and compelling prose, whether that prose comes in the shape of a persuasive essay, scientific report, or creative expression. The act of writing visually demonstrates how we think in original and critical ways and in ways that are deeper than those that can be taught or assessed by a computer. Furthermore, learning to write well requires engaged readers who encourage and challenge us to revise our muddled first drafts and craft more distinctive and informed points of view. Indeed, a new generation of web-based tools for authoring, annotating, editing, and publishing can dramatically enrich the writing process, but doing so requires liberal arts educators to rethink why and how we teach this skill, and to question those who blindly call for embracing or rejecting technology.

Mission AI: The New System Technology (Research for Policy) by Haroon Sheikh (Springer) 4.5 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 11 hours ago

This open access book offers a strategic perspective on AI and the process of embedding it in society. ?After decades of research, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now entering society at large. Due to its general purpose character, AI will change society in multiple, fundamental and unpredictable ways. Therefore, the Netherlands Scienti?c Council for Government Policy (WRR) characterizes AI as a system technology: a rare type of technologies that have a systemic impact on society. Earlier system technologies include electricity, the combustion engine and the computer. The history of these technologies provides us with useful insights about what it takes to direct the introduction of AI in society. The WRR identifies five key tasks to structurally work on this process: demystification, contextualisation, engagement, regulation and positioning. By clarifying what AI is (demystification), creating a functional ecosystem (contextualisation), involving diverse stakeholders (engagement), developing directive frameworks (regulation) and engaging internationally (positioning), societies can meaningfully influence how AI settles. Collectively, these activities steer the process of co-development between technology and society, and each representing a different path to safeguard public values. Mission AI - The New System Technology was originally published as an advisory report for the government of the Netherlands. The strategic analysis and the outlined recommendations are, however, relevant to every government and organization that aims to take up 'misson AI' and embed this newest system technology in our world.

Handbook of Computational Social Science for Policy by Eleonora Bertoni (Springer) 3.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

This open access handbook describes foundational issues, methodological approaches and examples on how to analyse and model data using Computational Social Science (CSS) for policy support. Up to now, CSS studies have mostly developed on a small, proof-of concept, scale that prevented from unleashing its potential to provide systematic impact to the policy cycle, as well as from improving the understanding of societal problems to the definition, assessment, evaluation, and monitoring of policies. The aim of this handbook is to fill this gap by exploring ways to analyse and model data for policy support, and to advocate the adoption of CSS solutions for policy by raising awareness of existing implementations of CSS in policy-relevant fields. To this end, the book explores applications of computational methods and approaches like big data, machine learning, statistical learning, sentiment analysis, text mining, systems modelling, and network analysis to different problems in the social sciences. The book is structured into three Parts: the first chapters on foundational issues open with an exposition and description of key policymaking areas where CSS can provide insights and information. In detail, the chapters cover public policy, governance, data justice and other ethical issues. Part two consists of chapters on methodological aspects dealing with issues such as the modelling of complexity, natural language processing, validity and lack of data, and innovation in official statistics. Finally, Part three describes the application of computational methods, challenges and opportunities in various social science areas, including economics, sociology, demography, migration, climate change, epidemiology, geography, and disaster management. The target audience of the book spans from the scientific community engaged in CSS research to policymakers interested in evidence-informed policy interventions, but also includes private companies holdingdata that can be used to ...

Make Bootstrap Themes by Bo Feng 4.2 Stars (47 Reviews)    Price verified 10 hours ago

Bootstrap perhaps is the most popular frontend framework for developing mobile first projects on the web in recent years, its repository on github gets more than 100 thousands stars. Millions of websites are using it not only because it is easy to learn and use but the flexibility of customization. In this book, we'll focus on the customization part - build your own Bootstrap theme. At the time of writing this book, Bootstrap 4 is still in its alpha version, by "Bootstrap" here we are referring to Bootstrap 3. We will start with preparing a development workbench, and introducing Less (a CSS pre-processor Bootstrap uses), then walk through Bootstrap's source code which will help us first get familiar with its code structure and later build themes by reusing it. Moreover, we will learn how to make additional styles and use plugins to polish our themes. Lastly we will touch on Bootstrap 4 a little and see how to use and customize it. This book is not an introduction to how to use Bootstrap, nor is it for learning the basics of HTML, CSS and Javascript. For example, you should know what "container", "col-xs-12", "col-sm-10" classes mean in Bootstrap. If not, I suggest reading through some tutorials about using Bootstrap before coming back to this book. If you are already familiar with the basis of HTML, CSS and Bootstrap usage, and want to go further to customize its theme, or even sell your own theme in the marketplaces, this is the book for you.

Foundations of Multi-Paradigm Modelling for Cyber-Physical Systems by Paulo Carreira (Springer) 4.6 Stars (7 Reviews)    Price verified 46 minutes ago

This open access book coherently gathers well-founded information on the fundamentals of and formalisms for modelling cyber-physical systems (CPS). Highlighting the cross-disciplinary nature of CPS modelling, it also serves as a bridge for anyone entering CPS from related areas of computer science or engineering. Truly complex, engineered systems -- known as cyber-physical systems -- that integrate physical, software, and network aspects are now on the rise. However, there is no unifying theory nor systematic design methods, techniques or tools for these systems. Individual (mechanical, electrical, network or software) engineering disciplines only offer partial solutions. A technique known as Multi-Paradigm Modelling has recently emerged suggesting to model every part and aspect of a system explicitly, at the most appropriate level(s) of abstraction, using the most appropriate modelling formalism(s), and then weaving the results together to form a representation of the system. If properlyapplied, it enables, among other global aspects, performance analysis, exhaustive simulation, and verification. This book is the first systematic attempt to bring together these formalisms for anyone starting in the field of CPS who seeks solid modelling foundations and a comprehensive introduction to the distinct existing techniques that are multi-paradigmatic. Though chiefly intended for master and post-graduate level students in computer science and engineering, it can also be used as a reference text for practitioners.

Videojuego y Adicción: Game Over (Spanish Edition) by Byron Rizzo 3.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified one hour ago

¿Cuántas horas has pasado jugando? Understanding Computers, Smartphones, and the Internet by Ernie Dainow 4.3 Stars (36 Reviews)    Price verified 11 hours ago

Most introductory books about computers are either long, detailed technical books such as those used in a computer science course or tutorials that provide instructions on how to operate a computer with little description of what happens inside the machine. This book fits in the large gap between these two extremes. It is for people who would like to understand how computers work, without having to learn a lot of technical details. There is no math except some simple arithmetic. The only prerequisite is knowing how to use a web browser. The fundamentals of hardware, software, the Internet and smartphones are explained, using examples and diagrams that are easy to follow. This book only covers current day technology. People who are interested in learning about how computers evolved from the earliest machines can read the companion book "A Concise History of Computers, Smartphones and the Internet", by Ernie Dainow. While primarily intended for people who are not in the computer field, this book is also useful as adjunct reading for those taking a coding course or an introductory computer science course. Even people already in the computer field will find things of interest in this book.

Artificial Intelligence for a Better Future: An Ecosystem Perspective on the Ethics of AI and Emerging Digital Technologies (SpringerBriefs in ... by Bernd Carsten Stahl (Springer) 4.5 Stars (10 Reviews)    Price verified 11 hours ago

This open access book proposes a novel approach to Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethics. AI offers many advantages: better and faster medical diagnoses, improved business processes and efficiency, and the automation of boring work. But undesirable and ethically problematic consequences are possible too: biases and discrimination, breaches of privacy and security, and societal distortions such as unemployment, economic exploitation and weakened democratic processes. There is even a prospect, ultimately, of super-intelligent machines replacing humans. The key question, then, is: how can we benefit from AI while addressing its ethical problems? This book presents an innovative answer to the question by presenting a different perspective on AI and its ethical consequences. Instead of looking at individual AI techniques, applications or ethical issues, we can understand AI as a system of ecosystems, consisting of numerous interdependent technologies, applications and stakeholders. Developing this idea, the book explores how AI ecosystems can be shaped to foster human flourishing. Drawing on rich empirical insights and detailed conceptual analysis, it suggests practical measures to ensure that AI is used to make the world a better place.

Digital Humanism: For a Humane Transformation of Democracy, Economy and Culture in the Digital Age by Julian Nida-Rümelin (Springer) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 12 hours ago

This open access book deals with cultural and philosophical aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) and pleads for a "digital humanism". This term is beginning to be en vogue everywhere. Due to a growing discontentment with the way digitalization is being used in the world, particularly formulated by former heroes of Internet, social media and search engine companies, philosophical as well as industrial thought leaders begin to plead for a humane use of digital tools. Yet the term "digital humanism" is a particular terminology that lacks a sound conceptual and philosophical basis and needs clarification still - and this gap is exactly filled by this book. It propagates a vision of society in which digitization is used to strengthen human self-determination, autonomy and dignity and whose time has come to be propagated throughout the world. The advantage of this book is that it is philosophically sound and yet written in a way that will make it accessible for everybody interested in the subject. Every chapters begins with a film scene illustrating a precise philosophical problem with AI and how we look at it - making the book not only readable, but even entertaining. And after having read the book the reader will have a clear vision of what it means to live in a world where digitization and AI are central technologies for a better and more humane civilization.

This open access book introduces and explains machine learning (ML) algorithms and techniques developed for statistical inferences on a complex process or system and their applications to simulations of chemically reacting turbulent flows. These two fields, ML and turbulent combustion, have large body of work and knowledge on their own, and this book brings them together and explain the complexities and challenges involved in applying ML techniques to simulate and study reacting flows. This is important as to the world's total primary energy supply (TPES), since more than 90% of this supply is through combustion technologies and the non-negligible effects of combustion on environment. Although alternative technologies based on renewable energies are coming up, their shares for the TPES is are less than 5% currently and one needs a complete paradigm shift to replace combustion sources. Whether this is practical or not is entirely a different question, and an answer to this question depends on the respondent. However, a pragmatic analysis suggests that the combustion share to TPES is likely to be more than 70% even by 2070. Hence, it will be prudent to take advantage of ML techniques to improve combustion sciences and technologies so that efficient and "greener" combustion systems that are friendlier to the environment can be designed. The book covers the current state of the art in these two topics and outlines the challenges involved, merits and drawbacks of using ML for turbulent combustion simulations including avenues which can be explored to overcome the challenges. The required mathematical equations and backgrounds are discussed with ample references for readers to find further detail if they wish. This book is unique since there is not any book with similar coverage of topics, ranging from big data analysis and machine learning algorithm to their applications for combustion science and system design for energy generation.

The Hyperlinked Society: Questioning Connections in the Digital Age (The New Media World) by Lokman Tsui (University of Michigan Press) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 16 minutes ago

"Links" are among the most basic---and most unexamined---features of online life. Bringing together a prominent array of thinkers from industry and the academy, The Hyperlinked Society addresses a provocative series of questions about the ways in which hyperlinks organize behavior online. How do media producers' considerations of links change the way they approach their work, and how do these considerations in turn affect the ways that audiences consume news and entertainment? What role do economic and political considerations play in information producers' creation of links? How do links shape the size and scope of the public sphere in the digital age? Are hyperlinks "bridging" mechanisms that encourage people to see beyond their personal beliefs to a broader and more diverse world? Or do they simply reinforce existing bonds by encouraging people to ignore social and political perspectives that conflict with their existing interests and beliefs? This pathbreaking collection of essays will be valuable to anyone interested in the now taken for granted connections that structure communication, commerce, and civic discourse in the world of digital media. "This collection provides a broad and deep examination of the social, political, and economic implications of the evolving, web-based media environment. The Hyperlinked Society will be a very useful contribution to the scholarly debate about the role of the internet in modern society, and especially about the interaction between the internet and other media systems in modern society." ---Charles Steinfield, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media, Michigan State University Joseph Turow is Robert Lewis Shayon Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania. From Digital Twins to Digital Selves and Beyond: Engineering and Social Models for a Trans-humanist World by Franz Barachini (Springer) 3.5 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 12 hours ago

This open access book aims at deepening the understanding of the relation between cyber-physical systems (CPSs) as socio-technical systems and their digital representations with intertwined artificial intelligence (AI). The authors describe why it is crucial for digital selves to be able to develop emotional behavior and why a humanity-inspired AI is necessary so that humans and humanoids can coexist. The introductory chapter describes major milestones in computer science which form the basis for the implementation of digital twins and digital selves. The subsequent Part I then lays the foundation to develop a socio-technical understanding of the nature of digital twins as representations and trans-human development objects. Following the conceptual understanding of digital twins and how they could be engineered according to cognitive and organizational structures, Part II forms the groundwork for understanding social behavior and its modeling. It discusses various perception-based socio-emotional approaches before sketching behavior-relevant models and their simulation capabilities. In particular, it is shown how emotions can substantially influence the collective behavior of artificial actors. Part III eventually presents a symbiosis showing under which preconditions digital selves might construct and produce digital twins as integrated design elements in trans-human ecosystems. The chapters in this part are dedicated to opportunities and modes of co-creating reflective socio-trans-human systems based on digital twin models, exploring mutual control and continuous development. The final epilog is congenitally speculative in its nature by presenting thoughts on future developments of artificial life in computational substrates. The book is written for researchers and professionals in areas like cyber-physical systems, robotics, social simulation or systems engineering, interested to take a speculative look into the future of digital twins and autonomous agents. ...

Rhetorical Code Studies: Discovering Arguments in and around Code (Sweetland Digital Rhetoric Collaborative) by Kevin Brock (University of Michigan Press) 3.8 Stars (6 Reviews)    Price verified 12 hours ago

Winner of the 2017 Sweetland Digital Rhetoric Collaborative Book Prize Software developers work rhetorically to make meaning through the code they write. In some ways, writing code is like any other form of communication; in others, it proves to be new, exciting, and unique. In Rhetorical Code Studies, Kevin Brock explores how software code serves as meaningful communication through which software developers construct arguments that are made up of logical procedures and express both implicit and explicit claims as to how a given program operates. Building on current scholarly work in digital rhetoric, software studies, and technical communication, Brock connects and continues ongoing conversations among rhetoricians, technical communicators, software studies scholars, and programming practitioners to demonstrate how software code and its surrounding discourse are highly rhetorical forms of communication. He considers examples ranging from large, well-known projects like Mozilla Firefox to small-scale programs like the "FizzBuzz" test common in many programming job interviews. Undertaking specific examinations of code texts as well as the contexts surrounding their composition, Brock illuminates the variety and depth of rhetorical activity taking place in and around code, from individual differences in style to changes in large-scale organizational and community norms. Rhetorical Code Studies holds significant implications for digital communication, multimodal composition, and the cultural analysis of software and its creation. It will interest academics and students of writing, rhetoric, and software engineering as well as technical communicators and developers of all types of software.

Engineering Agile Big-Data Systems by Kevin Feeney (River Publishers) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 11 hours ago

To be effective, data-intensive systems require extensive ongoing customisation to reflect changing user requirements, organisational policies, and the structure and interpretation of the data they hold. Manual customisation is expensive, time-consuming, and error-prone. In large complex systems, the value of the data can be such that exhaustive testing is necessary before any new feature can be added to the existing design. In most cases, the precise details of requirements, policies and data will change during the lifetime of the system, forcing a choice between expensive modification and continued operation with an inefficient design.Engineering Agile Big-Data Systems outlines an approach to dealing with these problems in software and data engineering, describing a methodology for aligning these processes throughout product lifecycles. It discusses tools which can be used to achieve these goals, and, in a number of case studies, shows how the tools and methodology have been used to improve a variety of academic and business systems.

Open Mapping towards Sustainable Development Goals: Voices of YouthMappers on Community Engaged Scholarship (Sustainable Development Goals Series) by Patricia Solís (Springer) 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 16 minutes ago

This collection amplifies the experiences of some of the world's young people who are working to address SDGs using geospatial technologies and multi-national collaboration. Authors from every region of the world who have emerged as leaders in the YouthMappers movement share their perspectives and knowledge in an accessible and peer-friendly format. YouthMappers are university students who create and use open mapping for development and humanitarian purposes. Their work leverages digital innovations - both geospatial platforms and communications technologies - to answer the call for leadership to address sustainability challenges. The book conveys a sense of robust knowledge emerging from formal studies or informal academic experiences - in the first-person voices of students and recent graduates who are at the forefront of creating a new map of the world. YouthMappers use OpenStreetMap as the foundational sharing mechanism for creating data together. Authors impart the way they are learning about themselves, about each other, about the world. They are developing technology skills, and simultaneously teaching the rest of the world about the potential contributions of a highly connected generation of emerging world leaders for the SDGs. The book is timely, in that it captures a pivotal moment in the trajectory of the YouthMappers movement's ability to share emerging expertise, and one that coincides with a pivotal moment in the geopolitical history of planet earth whose inhabitants need to hear from them. Most volumes that cover the topic of sustainability in terms of youth development are written by non-youth authors. Moreover, most are written by non-majoritarian, entrenched academic scholars. This book instead puts forward the diverse voices of students and recent graduates in countries where YouthMappers works, all over the world. Authors cover topics that range from water, agriculture, food, to waste, education, gender, climate action and disasters from ...

Automatic Java Code Generator for Regular Expressions and Finite Automata by Suejb Memeti 3.8 Stars (31 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Programming and resolving problems within automata theory is a complex process, which is time consuming and still the results may not be reliable (because of the great possibility to make mistakes while doing the required traversing steps). This project is an introduction of a tool that automatically generates Java Source Code for a given RE or Finite Automata, which significantly reduces complexity and increases productivity in a very short time. This is also a learning process tool, that can be used as a starting point to better understand the automata theory. Regular Expression Code Generator tool provides support for auto generating Java code for programming and executing (deterministic) finite automatons. It takes as input a regular expression and converts it into an equivalent nondeterministic and deterministic finite automaton, then automatically generates Java Source Code with the implementation of the DFA for the given RE. Regular Expression Code Generator is an interactive software for visualizing finite automata, and converting these automatons in Java executable Source Code in a quick, fast and effective way. It can be found very helpful tool within any course in Automata Theory or some Compiler courses. We intend Regular Expression Code Generator to be used by Students, Teachers and Programmers. For students it will be a good starting point to better understand RE, FA and how these FA are implemented in Java in different ways. For teachers it will be a perfect tool to check and correct student's assignments. Programmers could find it very useful to generate source code in a quick and fast way providing accessibility, performance, and improved programmer productivity while reducing time consumption.

SQLite Database Programming for Xamarin: Cross-platform C# database development for iOS and Android using SQLite.XM by Anthony Serpico 3.6 Stars (23 Reviews)    Price verified 10 hours ago

SQLite is the native database for iOS and Android applications. Xamarin is the development framework of choice for creating cross-platform mobile apps. Together, this powerful duo allows you to write a common, shared data persistence layer that works across OS's. This can greatly simplify your mobile development effort. However, you still need to learn to effectively use SQLite. That's where SQLite.XM steps in. 'SQLite Database Programming for Xamarin' will show you how to leverage the power of SQLite.XM to both accelerate and simplify database programming for your mobile applications. SQLite.XM is a freely available SQLite wrapper written in C# and designed to be used with apps developed using Xamarin. SQLite.XM makes using SQLite with Xamarin a snap. It shields your application from the details of working directly with SQLite. Instead, you app interfaces with a high level, cross-platform layer that provides database CRUD functionality. In addition to providing an abstraction layer that greatly simplifies database search and record retrieval. SQLite.XM also takes care of organizing your SQL, initializing your apps schema, performing schema updates, and synchronizing data to a server-side datastore. In Part 1 of this book, I spend some time talking in general terms about data persistence along with issues specific to mobile app development. I also go over the various technologies used in the book to build a data persistence layer. I then go on to discuss database design and challenges specific to designing for mobile apps. Part 2 is dedicated to explaining how to use SQLite.XM for data persistence on the device. This is the heart of the book. Part 3 is where I explain SQLite.XM and cloud replication; how to set up a server-side database and how to get data moved, or copied, from the device to your cloud server.

The Boost libraries introduced in this book will help you write less code with fewer bugs and finish projects faster. You code will be more concise and self-explanatory and more easily adapted when requirements change. The second edition is based on the Boost libraries 1.55.0 and 1.56.0 with the latter version having been released in August 2014. The examples are based on C++11 and have been tested with Visual Studio 2013, GCC 4.8 and Clang 3.3 on various platforms. For Boost libraries which were incorporated into the C++11 standard library, differences between Boost and the standard library are highlighted. The Boost libraries are one of the most important and influential open source C++ libraries. Their source code is available under a permissive free software license. Several Boost libraries have been incorporated into the C++11 standard library. The Boost libraries are developed and supported by the Boost community - a worldwide developer community with a strong interest in pushing C++ boundaries further.

Regularized System Identification: Learning Dynamic Models from Data (Communications and Control Engineering) by Gianluigi Pillonetto (Springer) 5.0 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified 16 minutes ago

This open access book provides a comprehensive treatment of recent developments in kernel-based identification that are of interest to anyone engaged in learning dynamic systems from data. The reader is led step by step into understanding of a novel paradigm that leverages the power of machine learning without losing sight of the system-theoretical principles of black-box identification. The authors' reformulation of the identification problem in the light of regularization theory not only offers new insight on classical questions, but paves the way to new and powerful algorithms for a variety of linear and nonlinear problems. Regression methods such as regularization networks and support vector machines are the basis of techniques that extend the function-estimation problem to the estimation of dynamic models. Many examples, also from real-world applications, illustrate the comparative advantages of the new nonparametric approach with respect to classic parametric prediction error methods. The challenges it addresses lie at the intersection of several disciplines so Regularized System Identification will be of interest to a variety of researchers and practitioners in the areas of control systems, machine learning, statistics, and data science. This is an open access book.
