Moving On by Helen Lawson 4.2 Stars (8 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

Rural Ireland, a handsome stranger, dark secrets and the dream of moving on. Marianne, a widowed mother, is just about managing to juggle her busy family life with the job that she enjoys and the demands of her eccentric but lovable boss. She has had a rough time in the past but things are on an even keel now and her twin boys are happy and healthy, which is all she really cares about. But, as Marianne knows only too well, bad things happen to good people, and the sudden and tragic death of a colleague at Unit A not only brings back sad memories but threatens the delicate home/work balance that she has worked so hard to achieve. After six difficult months of struggling to keep on top of things, Marianne feels a mixture of relief and irritation when a new and handsome, but outwardly cold and arrogant employee arrives at Unit A with rave reviews from the boss. Josu will take a lot of responsibility from Marianne's shoulders, which should make her life easier, but it's hard to be grateful when everything he says and does seems to rub her up the wrong way. Moving to the west of Ireland from his rural home in the Basque Country is not such a big change for Josu, or so he thinks. But he accepted the job offer on a whim, and wonders if he's having some sort of mid-life crisis. Or is it just an escape from a life that has become boring and lonely. Either way, he'll stick it out for a year or two, get it out of his system, and then return home to the land he loves. But shortly after Josu's arrival, there's a problem: a million euros is missing from the company accounts and he needs Marianne's help to find it. Or is he actually accusing her of theft? If Josu continues to alienate Marianne with his grumpy and aloof personality they will find it impossible to work together. And when a dark reminder of Josu's past comes back to haunt him, it only adds to the distrust between them.

DOUBLE CROSSED AND UNRAVELED by KELSEY CARLEE 4.8 Stars (152 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

This memoir recounts the relationships that a young Kelsey experienced, such as how her whole world got turned upside down when she met Howie. It touches on her complicated relationship with her mother, and how the love she developed for Cole nearly cost her life. The plot makes a full circle from when the author was younger to the adult version of herself, as she grieved the loss of her mother and had to look back at the past to be able to call things what they really were. This book chronicles the author's unraveling through poetry, letters, and recollection as an outlet to heal her past traumas. Double Crossed and Unraveled is for every survivor of neglect and abuse. It touches on domestic violence, PTSD, sexual assault, complicated grief, addiction, and recovery. It's easy to get lost in this "riveting" story that's difficult to set down once you begin reading.

Mildred Budge in Embankment (The Adventures of Mildred Budge Book 2) by Daphne Simpkins 4.6 Stars (1,160 Review)    Price verified 3 hours ago

When the car sailed over the embankment carrying the four members of the pulpit committee, Mildred Budge called out, "Jesus saves." The others heard it, but they were also experiencing their own quick flashes of insight. Liz, a serial widow, felt unsatisfied with her life. She wanted more. Sailing toward her death, she still did. Sam, who had turned the steering wheel that had sent them over the embankment, was looking forward to the crash. He wanted to feel it -- the hard slam of collision. His hands held the wheel tightly, bracing for it. Jake smiled. He resisted holding Mildred's hand, because black men still didn't touch white women in the where he lived. And he took note of the wonder of the experience that was like flying. 'So, this is what it's like -- to fly. To live.' And then the car touched down hard and slammed into a tree. And when they could speak, their conversation was different than it had been moments before. Life was different. What they really wanted was not what they thought. But in order to pursue it, they had to get out of the ravine where they had landed. And they had to work together to get home. This is a story about "Jesus saves" and how that message gets lived out in people who know the gospel and believe it. If you love a Christian story about real people, you'll enjoy this second book in the Mildred Budge series. Daphne Simpkins writes about church life in the South through her Mildred Budge books. She has also written about caregiving, cooking, Christmas, and Nat King Cole, a native of Montgomery, Alabama. Bad Guys: Personal Accounts of Military Service in the South African Defence Force 1969 to 1990 (Sentinel SADF Monographs) by Barry Fowler 3.6 Stars (43 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

Bad Guys Personal Accounts of Military Service in the South African Defence Force 1969 to 1990 Most people today, when presented with the more recently accepted picture of the Apartheid regime that ruled in South Africa until the mid-1990s, can be excused for believing that all personnel who served in the Armed Forces of the South African Defence Force during that time were "Bad Guys", who personally suppressed the black population. With new and representative governments in power in both Namibia and South Africa today, not much evidence is likely to be produced to counter such an opinion. In this, and other books, we hope to present a human face of those involved in the SADF, most of whom were not remotely evil, and were just trying to make the best they could of a difficult and uncomfortable situation, without considering themselves to have been holding up the Apartheid regime. The 18 personal accounts in this book are by men who served part of their service in South-West Africa, during the border war. These are the thoughts, feelings and experiences of the men who were there.

In 1925 Immigration is to Chicago a City riven with Prohibition's organized crime gangs. Michael, a master carpenter, is not free from criminal Labor Organizers, and Bridget demeaned as 'Irish Immigrant Trash.' The Great Depression does not reduce Michael or Bridget to residue resulting from England's Planation during America's pre-revolutionary days. In 1938, the opportunity to operate his own business organization lures Michael, Bridget, and their four Chicago born children to Oklahoma City during the height of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, during the plight of the 'Okies,' folks too troubled to be intolerant. In 1939, a move to Dallas finds the Connollys meeting head-on with intolerance in the form of 'Dirty Catholic Yankee.' The Connolly lads find themselves in fist fights. Yet, Michael's work expands and Bridget dedicates her energies to the donut road of pacification. In 1943, Michael's mathematical talents win him a position with a Detroit Metallurgy Firm. The Conollys relocate where intolerance takes the form of Hillbilly. No matter the bigotry and intolerance, the Connolly's are CLIMBING IRISH.

Not Quite A Superhero (A Static Alice Book Book 1) by Roney Peer 4.0 Stars (142 Reviews)    Price verified 6 hours ago

Alice is hiding an unusual power, a power that she has to keep secret. In movies, this would make Alice a superhero, a principal character with a sparky trick up her sleeve. However, in the reality of office life, this power is proving to be a pain in the rear end. Alice gives out massive static shocks. Alright, this might not be the most spectacular gift, but it can fuse electrical circuits, cripple low life creeps on the underground and foil bank robberies. Giving out whopping bolts of electricity isn't great for Alice's social life either, so she's stunned when a stranger notices her bravery and asks her out. She says no, of course. After all, how could she expect any man to put up with her painful caresses? However, to Alice's surprise, this handsome millionaire persists and quick-steps her into a date... a date that begins to go horribly wrong. As Alice heads towards a run of disasters, her colourful and unusual friends keep turning up to cut in and save her. Could Alice's friends also be hiding secret abilities? Could they actually be working for the world's most unusual police force? In an eventful, twisting plot stemming back to her mother's death, Alice finds herself at the heart of a British police investigation that leaves her life in very great jeopardy. Read on for a great fun blast of comedy, romance, action and adventure. Books to make you smile :)

A Prescription for Alcoholics - Medications for Alcoholism by Linda Burlison 4.6 Stars (25 Reviews)    Price verified 6 hours ago

Never heard of medication for alcoholism? You're not alone. Eighty-eight thousand Americans will die this year from alcoholism. Most will do so without ever knowing of the FDA-approved medications that might have saved their lives. 'A Prescription for Alcoholics - Medications for Alcoholism' by author Linda Burlison, is the first book ever published about FDA-approved medications The book takes a first sober look at anti-alcoholism drugs, the research behind them, and why nobody seems to know about them. Most people (including physicians and alcoholics) are unaware of the FDA-approved medications to fight alcoholism, despite the fact that the US government calls them the 'standard of care for the treatment of alcoholism.' Instead of medical treatment, the vast majority of doctors send treatment-seeking alcoholics to Alcoholics Anonymous-based 12-step programs which result in a dismal failure rate estimated at 90 percent. The 550-page book is an extensive look at drugs like naltrexone, acamprosate, baclofen, topiramate, gabapentin, nalmefene and others. Dr. Nora Volkow, the Director of the US National Institute on Drugs, and Dr. George Koob, Director of the US National Institute on Drug Abuse are spearheading a new understanding of alcoholism as a complex brain disease, and the medication that can treat it. Drs. Volkow and Koob are just two of thousands of researchers whose clinical research into medication for alcoholism forms the body of evidence the book cites. Written in plain English, the book highlights hundreds of studies conducted over many decades into medication that can reduce cravings, help manage alcohol consumption and help troubled drinkers abstain from drinking completely. The book provides answers to important questions about safety, liver toxicity, side effects, dosage and more. Most importantly it provides easy-to-read information which can be brought to a doctor's office to help a patient and their physician make ...

Afghanistan 1879. Army Captain, Edward Merriman - the Great Grandson of Admiral Sir James Merriman - is fighting for his life. Pinned down by snipers, surrounded by dead and dying men, the chances of surviving the day are looking bleak. With bayonets fixed they make ready for their last stand. The clash of steel on steel and screams of the dying are interrupted by a bugle call and a volley of rifle fire. Major-General Roberts' army column heading for Kabul arrives just in time to fend off a massacre. Injured and exhausted, Merriman is ordered back to Allahabad where bad news about his family and bride-to-be awaits. With leave to sort his affairs authorised, he heads to Singapore to see his brother and to find a ship bound for Calcutta and onward home to England. He boards the Eastern Light, an iron-built, three-masted barquentine along with some very dubious passengers. Tempers flare as a drunken bully strikes his wife and a Japanese Samurai threatens to remove his head. Merriman takes control of the situation and hopes for an eventless journey. But as the ship enters Pirate infested waters and a storm brews, Merriman has no idea just how much trouble is ahead. Publishers note: Whilst this book is part of the Merriman Chronicles series of books, it can easily be read as a standalone novel. THURSDAY'S ORCHID by Robert Mitchell 4.1 Stars (46 Reviews)    Price verified 7 hours ago

Another thriller from the prize-winning author of The Crying Stones (The Lucinda Legacy). The killer was out there in the darkness, his movement along the deck hidden by the rigging as it cracked and trembled in the wind. When the waves had begun crashing into the stern of the ship early that morning, the salt spray blasting over the bulwarks, the hull grinding and tearing itself upon the coral reef, I had cursed myself and my stupidity. I should have known that smuggling fifty tonnes of marijuana from Australia to Singapore could not be done easily, that others would hear of it, that others would try to take the cargo from me. But had Mee Ling been the one to betray me? Had the night we'd spent together meant nothing? Or was the small teak box she'd left for me, a box containing one single delicate orchid resting on a fold of rich red silk, meant as warning that Cheh Wah Tek was not to be trusted?

I'll need to sound the alarm." As they watched, a large plume of smoke burst through a window on the fourth floor of the Library where Thomas was studying. From the outset, the clever, dark Charles is different from his half-siblings, who are content to work the land from their childhoods onwards, and not to seek education. A child with a ruthless streak, Charles sets about getting what he wants from life - elevation above his family's standing, even as he forms a close bond with his more modest older brother, Tom. The two brothers' ambitions for both money and love begin to determine the courses of their very different lives, as Tom thinks only of carrying on his father's legacy at the Pindars' farm while Charles claws his way to wealth in the town of Bradburn. Tom - stolid, simple - is enchanted by the wiles of a beautiful but dangerous gypsy girl, and is determined to have her though Charles can see the perils of Tom's infatuation. Charles has his own sights set upon Laura Hardy, a pretty but proud gentleman's daughter; unwary as he is of the consequences of a self-made man seeking to join 'society'. Will the brothers' choices bring them prosperity or heartbreak? 'The Pindars' is a heartfelt tale of two brothers' different paths, set against the ever-changing backdrop of the industrial revolution and the First World War. Adelaide Q Roby's ambition as a child was to 'write a book with hard covers' and during her childhood she wrote several plays featuring herself and her younger brothers in a series of adventures. Later one of her adult plays was on the point of being produced at a Liverpool theatre when war broke out and it was shelved. As well as 'The Pindars', she is the author of 'Siren Song', 'White Harvest' and 'Sea Urchin'.

The Fifth: Indoctrinated City by Chris Sykes 3.9 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

"A remarkable tale of the frightening consequences of hatred and discrimination." - Kirkus Reviews With a fascist majority in the British Parliament, the UK falls to the hatred unleashed by that vote. When the government is no longer held to account, new laws are passed making certain people illegal. They are hunted by the Patrol. But under the streets of York lies a maze of tunnels, built from history, and filled with society's rejects. When one family tries to flee, Jenny finds her long lost father. Her brother, Jack, is taken north to join the British Liberation Army. This is theaction-packed thriller aboutunchecked hatred flooding a nation. Revolution is coming. Will The Fifth be ready? Reviews "although it begins as a dystopian thriller, soon develops strong sci-fi elements that aren't to be missed by science fiction fans. Dealing with a host of delicate subjects (with a trigger warning that also includes a message of hope at the start of the book which I appreciated) I feel that the author navigates this story well. It is very well-written and I was immersed in the character development of both Jenny and Jack, following on with Jenny's missions and hoping for improvements for Jack. This story is action packed, with twists that I could never have predicted and I would recommend for readers in the older YA market. I was eager to find out exactly what was happening and wanted to read the book in one sitting." - LoveReading / LoveReading4kids Ambassador (Indie Books We Love) "Sykes truly excels at unexpected turns regarding both the plot and cast. Some characters, for example, aren't as amiable as they seem, and more than one death is genuinely shocking. This book, even with its stark ending, could either be a stand-alone or a series opener. A remarkable tale of the frightening consequences of hatred and discrimination." - Kirkus Reviews "Readers' Comments (from The Wishing Shelf Book Awards): • "A fast-paced dystopian novel which, although not ...

SADF Border Base Layouts (Sentinel SADF Monographs) by Barry Fowler 3.8 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

This is a work in progress. I'm publishing at this time hoping that this draft will be found by people interested and willing to contribute to improving this book, and making it more comprehensive. The original remit was to identify each SADF base on the South West African - Angolan border, state its location, and provide a sketch map of the base layout, and maybe a photo or two to illustrate the layout of the base. Then `mission creep' became involved. Bases were developed over the years, some moved, and some were closed. There are thousands of photos of the border bases on the Internet, and it is not feasible to include many of them in such a book - even where copyright and permission can be established. Links and references are provided to related material elsewhere. Some border bases are described in detail, with there being little information about others. I publish what I have been given, and have been able to collect. There is much more out there that needs to be collected and preserved, before memories fade.

Quigley Tree: A Novel by Linda A Lavid 4.7 Stars (36 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

Quigley Tree drops out of college. At age 23, she's been a complete failure. If she doesn't do something soon, her life will careen into a deep, dark, irrevocable void. Tick Tock. That soon is now. From the publisher: Five-Star Review from Readers' Favorite by Lorraine Cobcroft: Quigley Tree, the protagonist of Linda A. Lavid's novel of the same name, is a young woman with an odd name. A college dropout from a dysfunctional home, and recently escaped from a relationship with a narcissist, Quigley needs to find a new place to live, quickly. A unique idea sets her on a path to find accommodation in a motel in exchange for providing marketing help, but she eventually must admit she has no idea what she is doing. She is a complete mess and has no faith in her ability to do anything useful with her life. Yet a kindly couple takes her on, and, with their help, and the help of an elderly lady she befriends, she begins to reshape her life and overcome her self-destructive attitude. Quirky is the best adjective to describe this work by Linda A. Lavid. Quigley Tree is as quirky as the protagonist's name. Q (as Quigley calls herself) grew on me and won me over. I empathized with her deep feelings of insecurity and her struggle to come to terms with a fractured family and a chaotic childhood. As the story progressed, there were poignant moments, and Lavid presented some interesting perspectives on life. There were also touches of whimsy in this tale of resilience and determination. In classic literary fiction style, Lavid focuses her novel on the character and theme rather than the plot. Quigley Tree, the story, ambles along at a leisurely pace, tracking Q's growth and gradual acceptance of herself and adjustment of her attitude toward her defective mother. Pearls of wisdom are scattered in conversations with her elderly friend, her employers, and the man who eventually wins her affection. The ending tempted me to shed a few tears, touched by Quigley's care for her toddler ...

New York to LA: Via Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia, Italy, France... by Olivia Moore 5.0 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

Between 1992 and 1996 Olivia Moore takes nine trips to different parts of America, Australia, Bali, Malaysia and Europe. Her journals describe, with wit and just enough personal details, the pleasures and pitfalls of international travel, peppering her accounts with songs, movie references and comedy sketches. Expect quotes from Monty Python, Not the Nine O'Clock News, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Fast Show. Whether it's losing important travel documents, getting on the wrong bus or taking off to Thailand on an impulse, she takes it all in her stride. Along the way, she shares her love of architecture, movie locations and the whole traveling experience (yes, even her unusual affection for cramped economy air travel). There's plenty of shopping, delicious food, bridge construction (?) and even a few football scores.

Using Profitable Investing Sites: Barron’s, MarketWatch, Finviz and Seeking Alpha by Tony Pow 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 2 hours ago

This book includes Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis. However, we depend on the everyday news on Intangible Analysis and Qualitative Analysis that are available for the web sites described in this book. This book identifies some good sites with the following characteristics: • Concentrate on investing and stocks. • Tell us what stocks or sectors to trade. • In-depth analysis of stocks and sectors. • Providing reliable statistics. • Avoiding frightening headlines as in many YouTube videos and investing news. • Available (free or low-cost). Barron's fits all the above categories except the cost. MarketWatch is bundled in a promotion with Barron's; it is a little basic to me and has many features that can be found in other similar sites such as Seeking Alpha and Yahoo!Finance. I am keeping watch lists of the recommended stocks and I will update their performances. Most of the watch lists have a reduced number of stocks after my evaluation (described in the Book 3 treating Book as "super section"). I am using Barron's digitized version in this book. The printed book should be available in most libraries. Use Spotify to find the free version of Barron's. I also subscribe to Fortune magazine and it is usually in my car. Bloomberg is another website with a lot of beneficial information, and as many other sites they are free for a limited number of articles. WSJ is a required subscription for many business students, and it describes the market better than most other web sites. There are many interesting YouTube videos. Many listen to these videos during their commute. Finviz.com and Yahoo!Finance have been described throughout this book. Many YouTube videos are included in this book. You can bring up YouTube and enter the topic you want to search for. YouTube videos are more fun to watch. Investopedia has a lot of good articles. Do not forget the articles from your broker such as Fidelity. I have not written this book for any of the ...

Hugh: A Hero without a Novel by David Lawrence (Broadbound Publishing LLC) 3.8 Stars (115 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

"Intriguing, ambitious, and pretty damn delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed 'Hugh' and it gave me a lot to think about. This is a unique and exhilarating journey." - Alexis Hall, author of Boyfriend Material From an old family trunk comes a manuscript which never saw the light of day. Its pages tell of a young man awakening to himself, his sexuality, and his world in this love letter to the era of Tom Jones. The slightly spoiled, slightly poetical, slightly absurd son of an ambitious baronet, Hugh Entwistle possesses the wealth and connections to make him a success in Georgian England. But before pursuing a sinecure in the military, he will spend the summer of 1768 at his country estate - far from the turmoil in London this politically volatile year. Only to discover a deeper, more profound turmoil within himself when he encounters the rebellious, and beautiful, son of the parish parson. So begins the hilarious and heart-breaking collapse of a well-ordered world. Hugh paints a sprawling canvas of 18th century England - a world of wig powder and heeled slippers, of connivers and blackmailers, in which the search for Liberty will require Hugh to redefine the rules of the game. Readers are enchanted with Hugh: A Hero without a Novel: "Sui generis, thoroughly interesting, fabulously vivid in place and time. It's extremely and realistically Georgian. A queer bildungsroman with more than a nod to Tom Jones, Tristram Shandy and the like. I found it absolutely fascinating... " - KJ Charles, author of The Secret Lives of Country Gentleman (The Doomsday Books) "'Hugh' is a deliciously satirical comedy, written in an antiquated syntax appropriate to the 18th century setting. At first entranced by, and then denied beauty, passion, and ecstasy (and what passion!... the Sorrows of Young Werther came to mind... ), Hugh becomes indifferent to offered pleasure until, at last, and in deathly fear of exposure, he attains the (outrageously, hilariously warped) Sublime." - Maria ...

A Passage to India: Illustrated edition by Edward Morgan Forster 4.0 Stars (4,243 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

"A Passage to India" by E.M. Forster is a profound exploration of the complexities of colonialism and cultural misunderstanding in British-occupied India. Set against the backdrop of the enigmatic Marabar Caves, the novel follows the intertwined lives of Dr. Aziz, an Indian Muslim, and Mrs. Moore, an Englishwoman, whose friendship becomes strained by the pervasive racial tensions of colonial society. Through a series of misunderstandings and personal conflicts, Forster delves into the inherent prejudices and power imbalances that divide the colonizers from the colonized, ultimately revealing the limitations of human understanding and the corrosive effects of imperialism on both the oppressor and the oppressed. With its incisive social commentary and evocative prose, "A Passage to India" remains a timeless masterpiece that continues to provoke thought and inspire reflection on the enduring legacy of colonialism in the modern world.

Red Wind's Ballad: Book One of The Sandsworn Trilogy by Jackson Dammann 4.2 Stars (23 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

Elias Danziger is the Red Wind, a notorious outlaw who has left a trail of corpses across the kingdom of Rakesh for nearly two decades. Haunted by his crimes but unwilling or unable to disentangle himself from the terrifying legend he has become, he wanders the desert alone. Everyone has heard of him, but nobody who knows his face ever escapes his guns. Paul Arkos and Lewis Thalen are bodyguards for Raleigh, Rakesh's King. Fiercely loyal to each other and to their liege, they are forced to flee into the desert when they are framed for Raleigh's sudden murder. Then there is Alessandra of the Sands, a clever, seemingly fearless assassin with preternatural speed and reflexes. She travels Rakesh tirelessly, dedicated to her mission and sworn to secrecy. Thrown together by circumstance, these four unite beneath the banner of the rebellion that rises to oppose the rule of the usurper Leander Gren. But traveling in the company of others exposes Elias' loneliness and awakens memories he has long suppressed, and he fears what his newfound allies will do if they learn who he really is. As Elias wrestles with his past and future and the usurper tightens his grip, ancient winds rise and race across the continent once more -- and in the desert's secret heart, a dormant magic stirs.

Oliver Twist: The Original 1838 Unabridged and Complete Edition (Aeons Classics) by Charles Dickens (Aeons Classics) 4.4 Stars (72 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

The story of Oliver Twist - orphaned, and set upon by evil and adversity from his first breath - shocked readers when it was published. After running away from the workhouse and pompous beadle Mr Bumble, Oliver finds himself lured into a den of thieves peopled by vivid and memorable characters - the Artful Dodger, vicious burglar Bill Sikes, his dog Bull's Eye, and prostitute Nancy, all watched over by cunning master-thief Fagin. Combining elements of Gothic Romance, the Newgate Novel and popular melodrama, Dickens created an entirely new kind of fiction, scathing in its indictment of a cruel society, and pervaded by an unforgettable sense of threat and mystery.

Love Lost Adventure: The Lie by Roseann Gargiulo (Imagine Media Concepts) 4.7 Stars (69 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

PRAISE FOR LOVE LOST ADVENTURE: THE LIE FIVE 5-star reviews from Readers' Favorite 1. "The Lie by Roseann Gargiulo is a story of many plots, all gradually threading together. This is an awesome story told by a master storyteller. It's a mixture of romance, history, murder, mystery, and adventure, with a good dash of humor thrown in for good measure." -- Anne-Marie Reynolds 2. "Gargiulo's characters are richly developed, and their deep connections evoke a range of emotions, taking readers from laughter to tears at the turn of a page." -- K.C. Finn 3. "It's all fun and games until somebody ends up in an incinerator! When I first picked up The Lie by Roseann Gargiulo, I admit I thought it would be a pretty standard young adult love story. The formula model is usually some combination of girl chasing boy, girl meeting new boy, girl has a choice to make. Gargiulo threw a spanner into that theory, crafting the ancient Blood & Bones Society and, while far less important, putting characters in shady places like at The Fat Black Pussycat, which is brilliant enough to be a band name." -- Jamie Michele 4. "The alternating perspectives from several characters provided transitions that built suspense. The sudden twists in the plot made it unpredictable, and I was on edge as I read each page." -- Stephanie Chapman 5. "People will do crazy things for love and there is no better example of this than Love Lost Adventure: The Lie by Roseann Gargiulo. The characters were all quirky and unique and added something to the plot. This is a wonderfully written book and I enjoyed every bit of it. Anyone who loves a romance that isn't just a romance would appreciate this work." -- Miche Arendse ?????? ? ?????? Surrounded by the whiteness of the blizzard's snow, Theodora Hayes was determined to rekindle a flame she had walked away from many years ago, but can one ever truly go back? It's hate at first sight. Vanderwild Bay Prep was supposed to be a fresh start for me. A chance to leave my troubled past behind. But the moment I caught Jensen Lockhart's attention, I knew I was in trouble. On the surface, he's every girl's dream. Beneath that perfect façade, he's a cruel, depraved monster who rules the school with an iron fist. I know better than to start a war with a guy like him... but I don't have a choice. He's uncovered my darkest secret, and he's dead-set on making me pay for my sins. Everywhere I turn, he's right there, ready to torment me in some wicked new way, and he won't stop until he breaks me. As much as I despise him, I can't deny the forbidden attraction simmering between us. I know it's wrong to want someone who takes pleasure in being so cruel to me, but I can't help being drawn to him anyway, like a moth to the flame. Every day, he takes yet another piece of me in his sick, twisted games... and if I'm not careful, he'll take my heart too. Dreams, Visions, Angels, & The Holy Spirit (Life in Christ) by Joan Boney 5.0 Stars (3 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

There are so many wonderful powers of God used by God by the will of God for HIS people. Since the Bible shows us many examples of God's use of dreams, visions, angels and the Holy Spirit, to accomplish HIS will, there is ample reason to believe God uses the same thing today by HIS will, as HE wills, for the church. If we see these things used in the Bible, there is reason to believe the same things can be used today to help us in the church. (Or if God chooses HE can invent new things to help us! HE is God!) But our faith in God is often increased when we consider examples of the power of God in the Bible and the testimony of God using His power in the lives of individuals in the church today! In this book, you will see reviews of Bible examples along with examples of dreams, visions, angels and the work of the Holy Spirit, used by God to help individuals in today's church. These examples should build our faith in God. It is all done according to the will of God. God speaks to us today and does with each of us today as HE wills. Joan Boney

The innocent victims who become his clients are often unnerved by him----while their victimizers are left seriously damaged or dead. Years ago, during his stint in the police department, Martello experienced an epiphany---best summarized by Tillich: "Every institution is inherently demonic." Seeing corruption and sadism among the police and the whole criminal justice system---he resigned from the force to carry on a personal crusade. He is a rebel---and he will be at odds with the authorities every step of the way. But his work pits him against the criminal class as well. On a case in Key West, he crosses paths with a flaming redhead named Angelique who comes very close to taking his life. Angelique, the Island Girl, will become Martello's chief antagonist from that point forward. Both are hunters and quarry to one another. He sees her as an enemy he must track down and destroy, while she regards him as the evil genius who upsets her plans----regretting that she didn't kill him when she had her chance.

The Field of Glow: My Life with Angels and Celestial Beings by William C. Schulz 5.0 Stars (39 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

The Field of Glow takes you on a deeply moving journey through the unseen but very real world of the celestial. In an intimate account of his lifelong experiences with angels, as well as encounters with saints and sages long since departed, William opens our hearts to a field of love and light. He shares heartwarming stories from the crib to the present day. These stories are magical and uplifting. And they are profoundly enriched with the wisdom of Archangel Michael as related directly to the author. The Field of Glow is soul-stirring. It is life-changing. It is at times funny, always thought-provoking, and highly accessible to all of us. And as we gain this glimpse of another reality we find ourselves believing, or at least considering, life's full range of possibilities -- a reality we have always known deep inside ourselves to be true. The Field of Glow is a delightful spiritual journey into the beautiful radiance of life. FROM THE AUTHOR "These are my stories but they have been polished and infused with the love of the angels. When I started writing, Archangel Michael came to let me know that I didn't need to do this on my own. He gave me insight and visions, and even helped me find the words to describe my experiences. In addition, Michael shared his own inspiring messages of love, caring, and compassion."

Just Beyond the Horizon (Just Beyond the Horizon: The de Laisser, Ravenscar, Santiago Series Book 6) by BJ Marshall Price verified 2 hours ago

Out of the Shadows Lucien de Laisser kept watch. For she was out there. An innocent young woman who was oblivious to the power she held, ignorant of the danger she was in, and unaware that eyes were watching. De Laisser knew. Knew that he had to get to her before someone else did, because he wasn't the only one keeping watch in the shadows. Into the Light He was a hard man. He was in deep, and he knew that if he didn't pull out soon, he wouldn't be able to. Damn. He sat back on his haunches and gave the lock a long, steady stare. Maybe the lock heard his thoughts, because it clicked, and the door slowly began to open. Then, he saw the barrel of a 9 mil, attached to an arm covered entirely in black. He didn't give his visitor any time to think, he grabbed the arm at the wrist, pulled the body attached to it into the cell and executed an Aikido move. He found himself on top of a body covered from head to toe in black and the scent was one he hadn't smelled since this assignment began. A woman. By the time he identified the soft, sweet smell of the fairer sex, he was flat on his back with the 9 mil in his face. "Ah babe, once again, I've got to pull your pretty French ass out of the proverbial fire." Somebody's Calling My Name As the sounds of the ceremony wafted towards the back of the church, the man standing silently by the doors allowed his gaze to leave the loving couple and look at the guests assembled for the happy event. He was surprised when he walked into the church that the entire damn building didn't go up in flames. Lord knew he'd committed enough sins in his lifetime to bring the wrath of Heaven down upon him. When his eyes moved back to the couple, they were kissing. Apparently, he'd missed the rest of the ceremony. As he walked to his unmarked car, he spared a thought for Max and Casey. He was glad they had finally found their way back to each other. They deserved some happiness, some joy, after the hell they had been through. He got in the ...

What lengths would you go to for a new start? The clickety clack of Hell's keyboards sounds like a plague of locusts, and the mind-crushing boredom of futile office work is enough to drive a person insane, but Karen Floyd persists. Every day, she shows up for her job at the Nakara Corporation (Hell's largest provider of cell phone service, Internet, and Cable television), hoping to catch a break. Then, one day, that break finally comes, and Karen must move Heav... Hell and earth in order to fulfil her dreams. "Part Good Omens and part Conjuring, The Sick Box checks that sweet spot between a dead-job survival guide and a heartfelt exploration of what the afterlife can do to one poor soul." -- Lamar Jenkins, author of The Tupac Files "Witty, irreverent, and ingeniously plotted, Matthew Fries' laugh-out-loud-funny debut novel is a must-read for anyone who loves a black comedy along the lines of Good Omens. Even when everything in the novel is up in the air, one thing's for certain: you're sure as Hell itself to get a rollicking ride out of it." -- Voted #8 on Reedsy's best indie books of ALL time. "The Sick Box is a laugh-out-loud hysterical farce that pokes fun at everything from The Exorcist to fake self-help advice columnists to Reiki practitioners. Fries expertly skewers contemporary capitalist culture and society, calling attention to the zaniness of the world he's created with effortless confidence. Overall, The Sick Box is a pitch perfect black comedy... " -- Michele Hogmire Reviewer "Absurd, cynical, and a little disgusting." -- Alison Manley the Miramichi Reader "Hell is other people, and those people have a better wireless package than most of Canada. The Sick Box takes a lighter look at a dark subject with wit, charm, and a dash of dark humour." -- Jim Phoenix, owner of HauntedMTL.com
