Highmoor by C. W. Clayton 4.5 Stars (7 Reviews)    Price verified 17 minutes ago

It is said that Gods once walked this world. Having shaped its lands and tamed its skies, they lived alongside its people - until one day, their powers waned, and they faded from existence. The world entered an age of darkness, bereft of its guiding deities. Without their protection, civilisations crumbled under a tide of foul creatures, sent by Eldingar of the underworld. Witches swept across the northern lands, and only one country was able to withstand them: the windswept nation of Highmoor. Millennia have passed, yet Highmoor remains the stronghold of the north. Its people are ruled by wizards, able to twist the fabric of reality with their magic - bending the Gods' world to their will. However, their power seems to be fading. Witches are gaining territory, and tensions are growing with their southern neighbour, Nettlewick. Caught in the crossfire are three brothers, forced from their secluded forest home by the sudden death of their foster father. They soon become embroiled in politics they never knew existed, and come to realise that their pasts are somehow tied to the events unfolding around them. Clearly, their foster father kept secrets. But why did he raise them in hiding? Why did he lie about their origins? And now that they have returned to civilisation, can they save Highmoor from impending disaster?

CAST THE FIRST STONE Vol. II Red Lake Series Mason Forks is a sleepy village north of Red Lake. When the New Life Redemption Church's bus kills the town drunk's wife and daughter, he sues the church. But justice is an uneven thing and Robert Goodman loses. Seeking revenge he takes the congregation hostage. This is a story of people who commit sins of omission and ones of commission. It is the journey of some who lose their faith while others somehow keep theirs. It is about alienation and reconciliation, of violence to the heart, and finding forgiveness within the heart. It is about finding community after tragedy falls.

101 Tips, Primarily on Writing Male Characters by RW Richard Price verified 58 minutes ago

Tips is a thought provoking, sometimes funny and often challenging approach to writing male characters, taking into full account their maleness in contrast to or in comparison to female characters. Therefore, Tips is especially suited for writing romance but doesn't ignore other genres. It will wade through various misconceptions of how a male character should think and act and offer startling alternatives. Since a man is most a man when around a woman, much of what you will read, will concern the male/female dynamic. If you are writing a detective story with no love interest, you will still find the pointers helpful because it will add depth, and influence the back- and current story of your male characters be they heroes or extras. "She was just a dame. Nothin' but trouble, with curves that kill." What makes a man/character who he is? What gives him meaning? How real is he? Is the hero or supporting guy written one-dimensionally like a comic book hero? Is the character written two-dimensionally like an alpha hero with a flaw? Is the character written three-dimensionally to show his heart? Is the character written four-dimensionally to show his approach to life in specific ways that set him apart and make him memorable? The author goes there. Or is he into the fifth dimension? That is, he's a fan of the sixties and seventies band, The Fifth Dimension. The author doesn't go there. This is a niche book on writing for when you are stumped or your husband's* not around to say that feels right. Or you don't trust your years of intuition, interaction and observation. *For male writers, consider the text a resource for instant inspiration. RW has worked years to develop these ideas (okay it was a lot easier than that when you blog), you now have it at your fingertips. In a story devoid of the opposite sexes interacting in any way (thought or action), that writer will use non-gender specific traits to propel the story forward. That is, it would likely be possible after ...

Reviews: Essays on Cinema by Robert Beshara Price verified one hour ago

This book is a collection of essays--film reviews for the most part written between 2010 and 2017, or when I was a graduate student pursuing two terminal degrees: first an MFA in Independent Film and Digital Imaging at Governors State University then a PhD in Psychology: Consciousness and Experience at The University of West Georgia. It includes detailed critiques of various movies screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010 and insights into the experiences of attending the festival. The reviews cover many films, from documentaries to dramas, and provide a glimpse into the filmmaker's perspective. Additionally, I share thoughts on the filmmaking process, the challenges of getting films accepted into festivals, and the idea of starting a film festival dedicated to marginalized filmmakers. The book also delves into filmmaking's technical and artistic aspects, emphasizing the importance of storytelling, aesthetics, and mastering the craft.

It's no secret that they are extremely interested in his ancient dead spacecraft and its method of propulsion. The Art of Guerrilla Warfare by J.J. Tucker 4.1 Stars (55 Reviews)    Price verified one hour ago

"THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS BOOK!" "A timeless piece that would undoubtedly disrupt the plans of any authoritarian regime." "The Art of Guerrilla Warfare is a must read for anyone interested in military strategy." "A book that would make the great Sun Tzu proud." Fighting a superior foe is a momentous task. There are many ways it can be done, there are many ways victories can be achieved. In war, there are no rules, there are no laws, there are only strategies and tactics. Many say what they would do in the face of tyranny, many know what they should do when the powerful become predators. A divided people can be isolated and devoured. Survival depends upon the masses forming one mind. There is no time to weigh the importance of morality as the devil approaches. To even question any tactics that lead to victory is foolish. There is no need to ponder what the enemy deems acceptable, they occupy the opposite end of the spectrum for a reason. At war with a superior force, one has no choice but to assume the role of the guerrilla.

GHOST BOSS: Psychic Suspense (The Boss Duet Book 1) by Diana Drakulich 3.1 Stars (7 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

Media Vita in Morte Sumus - In the Midst of Life We are in Death... Newbie real estate agent Summer Allison is excited to do an Open House at Stone Man Farm. Until she sees it. No phone, no cell, no internet. No one to hear her scream. Ever since that day at Stone Man when he entered the mysterious locked room of the deceased heir, her hotshot boss Don DeLuca has been acting strangely. Stone Man Farm sits on an Island in Time. No people, no traffic, no airplanes growling overhead. It's very quiet here. Too quiet. Sh-hhh... Can you hear The Voices whispering? Footsteps on the grand oak staircase? Stone Man Farm has stories to tell... Stories of fears, tears and tragedy. Laughter and Love that can walk through walls. Love that gazes through the Windows of Time. In addition to being a suspenseful romance, `GHOST BOSS' is a paean to a bygone age. Writing it brought back fond and sometimes terrifying memories of `Stone Man Farm' in Virginia. Back in the day when I used to babysit 3 wonderful kids there for a week at a time while their parents were away. Talk about `Adventures in Babysitting'! The paranormal incidents in `Ghost Boss' are based on what I saw and heard within those 12" thick walls and through those tall windows. Is there another world, waiting for us to see at last beyond the Veil? I was raised to think of `ghosts' as just ignorant superstition. But to this day my experiences at `Stone Man Farm' are still a source of wonder and inspiration.

Synbat: The Green Berets: Dave Riley #3 by Bob Mayer (Cool Gus Publishing) 4.3 Stars (597 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

Library Journal: "This book will appeal to a variety of horror and military fiction readers. Recommended." Dave Riley and his Green Beret A-Team must defeat a threat shockingly inhuman. Set in the shadowy world of genetic research, Synbat, stands for Synthetic Battle form. The research is conducted at a lab in the deep woods of western Tennessee, under the Pentagon's secret Black Budget, is Top Secret. Until the subjects of the experiment escape. The Synbats are now roaming the countryside, acting out what they were designed to do: kill. Riley and his team are called in for 'damage control.' Easier said than done. They follow the deadly trail to Chicago, where long abandoned tunnels are a lair for the Synbats to complete what could well spell the end of mankind: procreate at incredible speed. It's a race against time as Riley must destroy mankind's greatest threat-- our own genes spliced with that of another species. Kirkus Reviews. "Action packed entertainment. An atavistic milieu plausibly conjured up by Mayer." Publishers Weekly. "Mayer keeps story and characters firmly under control. The venal motives of the scientists and military bureaucracy are tellingly contrasted with the idealism of the soldiers -- a treat for military fiction readers."

The Straggler's Mask (Umbrakin Book 1) by Juho Pohjalainen 4.2 Stars (16 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

Last night Peal didn't even know what stars looked like. Today he stands as the final, desperate lifeline for a coming golden era. No pressure. I know what you're thinking - just look at the poor creature - but when your hero drops dead in the forest before the whole quest even starts, you can't afford to be picky with stand-ins. So we saddle Peal with the name, the mask, and all the responsibilities of this dead human, tell him to forget all his personal affairs like rites of passage or that girl he fancied, and push him out there to see whether he might actually be worth something. You wouldn't bet on that, and neither would he. He quivers just thinking about the quest he's been put on. How is he supposed to protect and babysit these oversized cretins, when all he's good for is staying out of sight? How can he find the path when he's never been outside his burrow before? Any chance anyone could even give him a hug? Peal's face is covered under that mask now. It conceals his meekness and gives him courage. And the stars no longer look so grand.

The Coin From Calabria: Discovering the Historical Roots of My Calabrian People by Michael Caputo 4.0 Stars (73 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Many years ago, while a child in the magical Region of Calabria, in Southern Italy, I found an ancient coin. Decades later, I sought, and finally found its amazing origins. The investigation of my coin's origins was paralleled by an in-depth search for my ancient Calabrian roots. What I found was a mesmerizing history of horrifying natural catastrophes, invasions by both brutal and civilizing peoples, and other enthralling events that will leave the reader enlightened and amazed. Michael Caputo Award-winning author of,Under A Lion Sun: Days of Joy and Sorrow In Old Calabria, and Calabria Seen Through Foreign Eyes. COMMENTS FROM READERS "Congratulations on a superb and incredibly interesting history of our remarkable roots! I just loved it!" (Kathy B.) "Really interesting." (Greg B.) "Excellent!" (Michael M.) "Amazing!" (Carmela A.) Read it three times already (F.T.) Great Read! (M.M.C.) "I am loving your book. I will share it with my family down under." (M.M.C.) "I have recently finished your book "The Coin from Calabria" and really enjoyed the information that you shared on your quest to discover the authenticity of that coin. The journey itself was intriguing but the historical references to the geographic conquests of that area was truly enlightening... Also, and what made the book even more enjoyable, is that you have a very natural gift for writing and expressing your content and that made it easy to want to go back to the book each time to finish it! The book was descriptive, informative and effortless to become engaged in and that makes reading a joyful experience." (Mark. A.) "I recently read your book, The Coin From Calabria, and I enjoyed it very much. I enjoyed reading in your book about the history of Calabria, going all the way back to the ancient Greeks who settled there. My wife gave me the book for my birthday, and I read it while on vacation last week. My mother and her family came to America from Calabria." (Mike N.)

In The Seven Realms of Pythus, stories of messengers filled the air of bustling taverns and the pages of bedtime stories. Identified by their stark red scarves and Kretian Paints, they were some of the most notable and important factors in Pythus' rise to Kinghood, and the seemingly eternal peace that came after.
