CREEP: A Short Psychological Thriller by William Cook (King Billy Publications) 3.8 Stars (85 Reviews)    Price verified 5 minutes ago

A dark story of a young woman's date with death! CREEP is a short psychological thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Serial Killers don't always get away with murder, no matter how hard they try. Includes bonus short story - Legacy. From CREEP: "Cassandra pounded on the window and frantically tried to push the rear doors open, first with her shoulders and then with her heels, to no avail. She peered into the dark confines of the garage and saw nothing except her frightened reflection looking back at her in the window, bathed in the dim yellow interior light of the cab. She cupped her neatly manicured hand across her brow and looked out the window again, her button nose touching the smeared glass as she did so. She thought she heard a deep growling noise somewhere nearby outside the cab and then her window was filled with bared teeth and the blackest, evil eyes, she'd ever seen. The huge head of the Rottweiler retreated into the shadows before launching itself back at the vehicle, the razor sharp canines crunching against the window and sending a trail of cracks across the glass. Steaming froth and saliva dripped down the webbed glass as the dog began to bark and thud its massive head against the side of the cab. Cassandra scuttled across the back seat as she wet herself, waves of fear shrinking her into a ball, as the crazed dog leaped at the cab again... " "William Cook tells a gruesome story with a sense of authenticity that makes you question with considerable unease if it really is fiction, after all." - Graham Masterton, author of The Manitou and Descendant "This man is simply scary. There is both a clinical thoroughness and a heartfelt emotional thoroughness to his writing. He manages to shock as well as empathize, to scare as well as acclimatize, yet beneath it all is a well read intelligence that demands to be engaged. I loved Blood Related. Ordinarily I hate serial killer stories, but William Cook won me over. He is a unique and ...

Searching for the Sun by Adrian Del Valle 3.7 Stars (54 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

Upstairs, he removed a yellow note, folded and stuffed between the apartment door and the molding. To Sam Garrety. I don't appreciate your cat having fits every time you leave that apartment. Either you shut him up, or I will be forced to notify the landlord. Sam wrote her back and taped the note to her door. Dear Bertha, Sorry about the meowing from my cat, Dupree, I'm both amazed and impressed by your superior hearing ability, especially in lieu of all of the construction that has been going on out on the street lately. That you could actually hear him above the jackhammers and honking traffic is truly wondrous. You can be assured that I will do my absolute very best to keep him away from the door. Sincerely, Sam. Sam left for work. When he arrived home late that evening, he found another note from Bertha stuffed inside the same place. Look idiot, I have lived here in peace and quiet my whole life. I don't appreciate your wise cracking attitude and I don't like smelling your cat every time I pass your door. Do something about the noise or else. Me.__ To Me, thank you so much for expressing your concerns so eloquently. In compliance with your request this morning, I taped Dupree's mouth shut with duct tape and hung him up by all four limbs over my bed. Surprisingly, when I got home just now, I discovered that he had somehow worked his way out of the bindings in my absence. Therefore, I decided more drastic measures will need to take place. I am looking into horse tranquilizers to subdue him at least until I get back home after work from now on. The following Morning. Sam put off checking the door until after he had coffee. Curiosity finally got the best of him. He retrieved the latest note and sat at the table to read it. To the idiot next door. Look, I don't believe any of your bullshit. If this rhetoric of yours was meant to appease me, you have a thing or two coming. I just about had it with you. I have nothing else to say. To Bertha. Hey, that's great! I'm ...

Diego's Brooklyn by Adrian Del Valle 3.9 Stars (49 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Joe Barnes' home is a 9X12 room on a quiet tree-lined street near Downtown Brooklyn. He borrowed $10,000 from the Irish Mob in "Hell's Kitchen", a lot of money in 1961. The first payment is well over due. He's late by three months and now they want it all back. That's why he's hiding out across the river with no plans of going back to Manhattan. Joe is biding his time while he waits for a good tip on a fast horse at the Trotters. He still has all of the money he borrowed and believes he has hidden it well. Below, in a two room, first floor flat, 14 year old Diego lives with Ana, his handicapped mother. Money is hard to come by. A welfare check barely puts food on the table, so the boy hustles the streets to buy milk, bread, or anything else they need. He befriends Bill Jackson, an elderly black southerner from the Carolinas who lives one block over on Bergen Street with Beulah, his warm hearted, matronly wife. Though not on welfare, they scrape by on the little they get from Social Security, and lately, they have come up short for the electric bill. "And old Geezer the cat needs to eat, too. Momma been feedin' him scraps, but thems cats got to have their meat." Diego shows the older man how to fish for spare change in the subway gratings of the Lexington Avenue line. To earn more money, they deliver groceries in a modified baby carriage, but the venture fails from the start. "So you think this business went on belly up like a shot up gator?" says Bill. "Now, don't go selling your cow to buy a mule." 'Though streetwise and school-smart, nothing prepares Diego for what lie ahead when the Irish mob finally finds Joe Barnes. The once, quiet building is thrown into turmoil as it becomes witness to intimidation and murder. And the cops are of no help, either. One of their own wants that money, and he's willing to kill for it.

Mortal Sentry (Raina Kirkland Book 2) by Diana Graves 4.3 Stars (43 Reviews)    Price verified 6 hours ago

Review by Brigitte: Professional reviewer of Paranormal Fantasy. I enjoyed reading this book as much as I enjoyed the first one if not more. Raina who is half Elf, half witch and turned into the only living vampire after being bitten, discovers more about herself and her gifts. The revelations are unexpected and finding out who her real father is comes as quite a surprise. Raina is pursued by other mythical beings and is constantly fighting to stay alive or being taken into captivity. Being an Empath is a great attribute, which she only uses for the greater good. I like how so many different mythical beings are portrayed in this book and the way everything flows and falls into place. We also find out quite a lot about Katie, Raina's half sister too, which explains her attitude in the previous book. This part of the book is quite heart breaking. This story is full of surprises, some nice ones and some shocking ones too. I would recommend that you read Fatal Retribution before reading Mortal Sentry as some of the things, which are revealed about various characters such as Mato, Alistair and a few others are quite unexpected. This book is full of magic, suspense, betrayal, hurt, love and passion. It held my interest from beginning to end and I would fully recommend to those who like Vampires, shifters, faes and other mythical characters. I will definitely read the next book in this series and thank you Diana Graves for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

The Warriors: A WWII Thriller (The Tenth Avatar - Book 1) by Gary Naiman 4.0 Stars (53 Reviews)    Price verified one minute ago

An unmarked aircraft has crashed on a Far Eastern mountain, its wreckage scattered on a 23,000 foot ridge. With the world at the brink of war, four strangers are drawn to that mountain by interwoven events. The Spanish missionary flees his nation's civil war. The Baltistani hunter scours the Himalaya for his sister's murderers. The American reporter tracks the Axis document that killed her journalist husband. The British mountaineer craves a final shot at the peak that claimed his comrades. Driven by their bitter pasts, the four converge on Nepal's Mt. Kangchenjunga, unaware that two flights of Japanese imperial marines are closing from the east with orders to retrieve the crashed plane's cargo at all costs for it will determine the victor of a war not yet started. Amazon Reviews: "The first chapter which takes place in a Japanese warplane over Tibet is outstanding. It grabs the reader and doesn't let go. Excellent writing. The story line of each character is brilliantly constructed as the novel is brought to an explosive conclusion. If you enjoy historical thrillers, I recommend this effort. (M&D) "A good World War II epic with settings in civil war Spain, depression America, and the Far East." (AC) "I loved this book for its historical scenes, believable characters, and intriguing plot. I was surprised at the romance interspersed throughout the story. In many ways, it's more a romantic-spiritual adventure than a novel about war." (LoMo) "A powerful story of love and war. Actually, it's four beautifully intertwined stories of four tormented strangers and their confrontation with an evil force atop a 23,000 foot ridge in the Himalaya. Incredible research went into this 1930's pre-war novel. I was taken by the detailed, living backdrop of Spain's civil war, America's great depression, and the mystic Far East." The Haunting of Bushranger Inn by B. J. Conroy 4.2 Stars (33 Reviews)    Price verified 4 minutes ago

Sandy and Nate are a young, recently married couple from Sydney, Australia, looking to move to the country and run their own business. The Bushranger Inn on the outskirts of the town of Soames is up for sale, and they decide to take on the challenge of running it. The bushrangers were nineteenth-century Australian outlaws who raided farms, robbed banks, and held up stagecoaches. When the authorities pursued them, they disappeared into the vast hinterland of forest and scrub called the bush. The inn does have a historic connection to real bushrangers. It was formerly known as the Victoria Arms and was the unofficial headquarters of the Morgan gang. In 1863, police suspected them of robbing a gold shipment being taken by carriage from the gold fields of Soames to Sydney. The gold was never found, and the bushrangers died in mysterious circumstances. After moving into the inn, Sandy is disturbed by ghostly sounds occurring at the same time every night. Nate cannot hear them and thinks she is imagining it. Ignoring the sounds might help Sandy save her marriage and the business, but what if they're a warning? Could listening to them be their best chance of survival?
