The Bond of Chains (The Xrath War Book 1) by Robert John Burke 3.9 Stars (18 Reviews)    Price verified 36 minutes ago

For a thousand years, the armored giants known as Xrath were oppressed by the technologically advanced Armada. Only one of the common races rose to their defense: A plucky group of talking primates called "humans." The Liberation came, and the Xrath were set free. But the friendship did not last. The human race proved capricious, and spread themselves throughout the stars in their eternal quest for wealth and power. Meanwhile, the Xrath isolated themselves, suspicious of all outside their borders, awaiting their time of reckoning with such false friends. Now, hundreds of years after that first encounter, the time is at hand. Krion xk'Kialar, the bringer of thunder, greatest of all Xrath generals, has assumed command of their forces and launched a daring campaign against the humans and their allies. All that stands between humanity and a fiery judgment is the courage of an unlikely group of heroes: An arrogant fighter pilot with a troubled home life. A no-nonsense soldier trying to live up to her father's name. A castoff reporter with a chip on her shoulder. A mercenary with a history working for the Xrath. And a funny little man named Skyler, a technical genius on the run whose affinity for chaos may render him more dangerous than all the ships and soldiers in all the worlds... Full of action, political intrigue, and space opera, The Bond of Chains envisions a dark Universe where mankind struggles for its very survival, where the demons within are always more frightening than the monsters without. The Xrath War begins now, and the Universe will never be the same...

Titan (Mammon Book 1) by Robert Kroese 4.3 Stars (229 Reviews)    Price verified one hour ago

A 2021 Prometheus Award nominee! "Mammon will scratch your itch for cranky libertarian sci-fi. Looking forward to the next part!" - John Carmack, creator of Doom and founder of Armadillo Aerospace " This is a compelling page turner and, once again, Kroese... not only gets the economics of hyperinflation absolutely correct, but, in the best tradition of science fiction, "shows, not tells" the psychology which grips those experiencing it and how rapidly the thin veneer of civilisation can erode when money dies." - John Walker, Founder of Autodesk, Inc., co-author AutoCAD, author The Hacker's Diet, operator of Fourmilab " Kroese did his homework on financial bubbles, panics, mass psychosis, social collapse, cryptocurrency, and hyper-inflation... [B]etter than Lucifer's Hammer, and spookily realistic." - Hans Schantz, physicist and author of The Hidden Truth " You can see the foundation of the book's apocalypse in today's headlines, and that should scare the hell out of anyone. Cannot wait for book two." - T. Cannon, Amazon reviewer By the year 2032, the U.S. federal debt has surpassed $50 trillion. The American empire is on the verge of collapse. An entrepreneur named Kade Kapur has an idea for rescuing the debt-ridden United States: the government will issue stock in a company with exclusive mining rights to an asteroid whose orbit will soon bring it near Earth. A Bridge Too ... by James Huber 4.4 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 2 hours ago

It is Wichita, Kansas, about 1966-1967. No one, except big companies, had computers or even knew what one was. Or did they? A Bridge Too... is a work of science fiction involving the concept of time travel and computers science that does not fit the time period. Following on from the events of the previous book, this novella-length sci-fi story takes us back to brothers Tim and Dan Shell, who have previously spent some time inside the world of computers in a fantastical fictional world. Their cyberpunk adventure is not yet over for when Tim is introduced to time travel technology, his urge to go back and rescue Pixie from the computer world is too strong to resist. What follows is a retro adventure with plenty of nostalgic tech and modern twists. This work has the conceptual inventions at play, and the ideas with which author James Huber brings the story about. It's easy to get into the story from book one's ending, and Tim and Dan are set out well as very different types of men, which builds to an interesting clash of motivations as the plot moves forward. It is a quick and fascinating read that explores the possibilities of technology from a unique retro setting of the 1960s. Overall, A Bridge Too... is a work that will explore many popular themes for cyberpunk and time travel fans, and does so with good tension and character involvement. Call Us The Levitators by James Huber 5.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 4 hours ago

Levitators by James Huber is a tale of science fiction mixed with the paranormal. Four people; four different parts of the world; the same time. Each one "witnesses" something strange. Something that suggests they have a power that allows them to levitate people. All four are questioned about their experiences, and are called to London to meet with a panel of paranormal experts to discuss their new-found powers. Involved in the meeting are a representative from Interpol and another from Mossad, but just what is their interest in these people, or, more specifically, their powers? Set loose, one of the subjects goes home with a tracker implanted in him, while the other three take a different route. A chain of events has been set in motion, one that could have far-reaching effects the world over as Interpol, the CIA, and Mossad agents clash with clerics. Will any of them survive this? Will their powers be used for evil or for good? Levitators was an interesting read. It had a little bit of everything in it - the paranormal and sci-fi angle mixed with terrorism, and the fight for good over evil. I found it to be a little stilted in places and a little long-winded in others, but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the story. It was clearly a very well thought out story with a basis in current events and the plot was cleverly written. The character development was very well done, giving plenty of background on all the characters and they fitted in with the story. Overall, a good book and I would recommend it to anyone who wants something a little different to read. The MindSet Chronicles: Book One - The Deletion by Steve Truitt (Steve Truitt LLC) 4.6 Stars (36 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

In a world where artificial intelligence has become an integral part of daily life, the sudden death of all AI sends society into a tailspin - a disconnected, surreal post-AI period known as The Deletion. As the world struggles to come to terms with the loss, bad boy genius, Peter Eriksson, has invented a new form of interconnection called MindSet to reconnect the world in this strange new time. Conceived from a century-old concept, "Crowd Wisdom," this revolutionary device links the minds of all of those who possess the necessary implants, becoming the only hope for humanity to rebuild and recover from the loss of AI. But Bethany Okoyé -- Peter's part-time lover/part-time rival -- remains leery of Peter's devices and isn't shy about making her opinion known. It is only when humanity encounters a global challenge unlike any other, that the two must find a way to work together to address a threat that could endanger the very nature of reality itself. With action, suspense, and thought-provoking themes, this science fiction novel explores the dangers of our reliance on technology and the possible consequences of a world without it, while also delving into the potential benefits and dangers of a mind-connected society.

A Duty of Wrath: Book 2 of the Quarterback Series by D. Martin Fuery 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

It's one thing to be a well-known superhero. It's quite another to be wanted for a murder you didn't commit. Fairbanks, Alaska, was thawing from a cold winter when The Event happened in late March 2001. A street preacher from California was on his mission to warn its citizens about the coming end of times when fire rained from the heavens and the sky turned blood red. His apocalyptic message gained him many followers and thousands of dollars in donations and he returned from his mission to spread his message across Southern California. Quarterback and SHORE, an organization created for superhuman relations, come to conflict when Quarterback's unique ability is displayed when saving innocent civilians and professional SHORE superheroes. SHORE's most powerful hero, Dayforce, makes it her mission to unmask and identify a person who shouldn't exist: a superhuman who can do anything. Pastor Eric Loussard opened the Seven Trumpets megachurch in Glendale, California, when he returned from a transformative mission in Alaska. He had seen the signs of Revelation, from the breaking of the seals to the first trumpets sounding, and the multi-faced beast of Revelation rising, as prophesied in Scripture, as the superhumans altered by The Event. The coming of Tribulation cannot be stopped, but the agents of the beast are turning people away from the righteous path. Quarterback is framed for murder when the holy man's dedication turns deadly. A teen boy dies from the pastor's mission to expel the superhumans from the world and Quarterback must battle superhuman armies in his own mission to prove his innocence. Does Quarterback succeed, or does the fire of wrath consume another soul? Click the Buy Now button to join Quarterback in his drive to end the flames of hatred.

WADE: SUBJECT NUMBER FOUR by B. CAMP 4.6 Stars (5 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Wade didn't remember much about his early childhood. He did remember being sick constantly and he remembered his mother. She wasn't really his mother at the time, just a kind and caring woman who lavished him with attention. He had been trapped in the facility with twenty other children, the nice lady and her husband. One morning he awakened and she was no longer there. Later he learned that she and her husband had escaped from the facility with one of the other kids. Over time he learned the nature of his illness which was tied to the nature of the facility. He learned that all of his creche were the results of genetic experimentation. The first four, him and the three who died, had foreign DNA inserted into their genomes. The idea wasn't necessarily bad but the execution was clumsy. The foreign DNA was inserted into inappropriate areas in the children's DNA and caused numerous metabolic issues. That's why he was sick and the other three had died. After that horrible outcome the later experiments focused on optimizing the DNA that was native to the child and those children did well. Wade had only a lifetime of illness ahead of him until the lady (Amy) and her husband (Ben) were recaptured. That's when he learned that Amy was a doctor that specialized in genetic disorders. She cured him. And they waited. Amy was sure that the boy that they had rescued, Aaron, would in turn rescue her and Ben and free all the children. Wade wasn't so sure about that but it was a nice dream. In the meantime, he was healthier than he had ever been and he worked to get stronger. If he was ever freed he would find the perpetrators of this nightmare experiment and he swore that he would fight against them and their objectives. "This manuscript is full of highly crafted detail that will make readers shiver at times with fear and delight... a familiar yet highly original fantasy that is a worthwhile read." -- Publishers Weekly Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award 2012 semi-finalist. An ancient empire stands on the brink of a civil war. Their quest may push it over the edge. It is the Seventeenth Year of Queen Victoria's enlightened rule. The Qin Rebellion spreads dangerously close to the old capital and only the remainder of the Second Regiment of Royal Marines stands between the rebel army and the vital trade port of Huating. In Yamato, after a mysterious ritual fusing Bran's soul with that of an ancient warrior, he, the wizardess Sato and the shrine apprentice Nagomi flee Kiyo, pursued by the Yamato authorities - and by the associates of a shadowy figure in Crimson Robe. Their quest - to find Bran's captured dragon and discover the whereabouts of Sato's abducted father. A detailed and fast-paced historical fantasy based around the turbulent opening of Japan to the West in the middle of the 19th century, "The Warrior's Soul" is the second volume in "The Year of the Dragon" saga. The third volume, "The Islands in the Mist", is expected in Autumn 2012.

Tallulah's Temptation: Sea Shenanigans Book One by Robyn Peterman 4.1 Stars (772 Reviews)    Price verified one minute ago

Running a tourist trap for humans in the Bermuda Triangle had sounded like a fine plan -- until it wasn't. With the Sea Hags gunning for our island and ruining our questionably successful business, I did what any desperate Mermaid would do. I called for backup. Of course, getting help from the Otherworld Defense Agency is risky as they don't usually deal with ocean creatures. Whatever. Desperate times call for crappy measures. Chances are they'll send freaking Pirates. I hate Pirates... Well, I hate one Pirate in particular. Hopefully, it won't be the one seafaring jackhole I despise more than any other. Pirate Doug would be an idiot to show his face here after what he'd done. Not only did the dumbass abscond with our treasure, the son-of-a-bitch took my heart with him as well. I'll tear his sorry ass to shreds if he so much as steps even one hairy toe on my island.

Crazy Christians Chapter Fifteen (Dr. Tex Arcana Book 15) by Scott F Neve Price verified 9 hours ago

Petra, Jordan Queen Lenore encouraged him, "Never give up. You are so close." "I never quit," said Tex with a grin on his handsome face. He could hear the sound of the rope lowering the target back into place. Then he focused his spirit on the task at hand. He swung with all of his might. Tex hit the piñata and then it exploded with candy and fireworks. A tiny rocket grazed his ear leaving a scorch mark. The shockwave knocked him on his butt. The three women screamed in shock and dismay. The kids cheered as they scrambled to pick up all of the candy raining down in the old throne room. The men stood their ground like carefree gods. On queue, the orchestra launched into a victory tune. During the split second flash, Tex heard a verbal vision from heaven. The living words painted a saga in the spirit. He was instantly in the past with King Solomon of Israel and King Hiram of Tyre on their last voyage to Ophir. The verbal picture was narrated by Honey Arcana, but the person that Tex was focused on was the eldest daughter of Solomon. He somehow knew that her mother was Shulamith the princess bride from the Song of Songs. The young woman's name was Sulmina. Her inner and outer beauty was beyond compare. In the wink of an eye the royal fleet was docked in the legendary land of gold. The new faithless ruler of Ophir hated Solomon and Israel, so he promised that there would be no more shipments. Ebony slaves loaded the golden cargo that was in the shape of six foot long rods and teardrop cannon balls. One small ship almost sank on the return voyage. After docking at the city of Ezion-Geber, the tiny ship was hoisted into dry dock for repair. The Israeli soldiers loaded the gold onto a well-guarded royal caravan. There were hundreds of pack animals, camels and wagons. King Hiram told Solomon honestly that he was also tired of giving to Israel. Then the caravan was attacked on the shoreline by Edomites. The empty ships were burned and then they sank beneath the waves. ...

The Loch Monster (Close Encounters of the Cryptid Kind Book 6) by Deborah Cannon 3.3 Stars (9 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

"Grit swirled as something large left the silty lake floor blinding the crew of the DarkScan just long enough for the creature to escape their sight. Drey strained, willing Horshact to pursue it, but the weight of the submersible made for slow maneuvers. The beast was at least three submersible-lengths ahead of them, and she could see the hull of what looked like a boat above. Horshact made a split second decision and dropped their ballast. With the release of the ballast DarkScan catapulted, and her fins brushed the creature's flipper. Startled by the touch it flinched, and curled to plunge past into deep water. But soon it needed air and stroked to the surface. The video cameras caught the creature as it inhaled and dived. DarkScan was unable to follow, having released all of her ballast. The creature reappeared in the screen... and for a moment, Drey stared into its eyes." The Loch Ness monster exists, but is it responsible for terrorizing the lakeside? When perky cryptozoologist Drey McFee teams up with her ex boyfriend Boyd Simmons to investigate, she comes to a frightening epiphany. Maybe the cryptid they are investigating isn't the cryptid they should be hunting. Deborah Cannon is the winner of an Honourable Mention for her short story TWILIGHT GLYPH to be published in The Canadian Tales of the Fantastic anthology, September 2014 (Red Tuque Books)

Doomed Dancer Chapter Sixteen (Dr. Tex Arcana Book 16) by Scott F Neve Price verified 4 hours ago

Babylon, Iraq "We haven't heard from Mr. Arcana in three days," explained Margo Magdalene the High Councilor of Rare and Precious Artifacts in Iraq. "Break that door down now!" her legal secretary Jeri Boam ordered the hotel manager. "He could have been kidnapped, murdered or worse," implored Tex's newest sidekick Wendy. It was the third young woman's heartfelt plea that finally moved the manager to action. After unlocking the dead bolt of room 626 with his pass key, he kicked in the door which broke the chain. Tex was unconscious on the floor. The great American philanthropist and inventor was sprawled face down wearing just his boxer shorts and cowboy boots. He was murmuring unintelligible words as if he were talking to his comatose wife. It was not a language of this earth. The phone and TV were unplugged. The bed had not been slept in. The shades were closed tight. He was acting delirious as Wendy felt him for vital signs. Then she flipped him over. She said, "I think that Tex has been drugged." "Or he's really drunk," said Jeri as she shook her head. Margo touched his brow as she said, "Either way he's as high as a kite." The manager summed up their thoughts as he said, "I wonder what Mr. Arcana is thinking right now." The spirit that was the real Tex was floating on a cloud. His senses were supernaturally infused and he was suffering from Double Vision. God gave Tex a mental map. His spiritual eyes were looking over ancient Babylon. The city was at the height of its splendor during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar. The modern buildings did not exist yet. Honey Arcana was hugging her husband on that cloud that hovered above the tallest spire of the royal palace and pleasure dome. She was dressed like a dancer in the doomed king's royal harem. She was whispering instructions to him. In return, he whispered words of love as he drank in the glory that emanated from her pure spirit.

A Bridge to ...? by James Huber 4.4 Stars (4 Reviews)    Price verified 7 hours ago

It is Wichita, Kansas, about 1966-1967. No one, except big companies, had computers or even knew what one was. Or did they?. Very few, if any, have computers. The closest most have come to one is the video games found in bars and rec centers. But what if some of the people who did have computers were able to create realistic fantasy worlds where the game player could actually go into the game in a physical way? Could it be done? How would it be done? There would be dangers and there would be the need for a life guard, of sorts. How detailed would the adventure games be due to the antiquity of the computers and programs. This is compared to ours today, of course. There could be, in fantasy, a group that had developed it and two men had stumbled on it. Now the question arises is why did they make these realistic games? Could it be money? Could it be fame? Could it be sinister. Only a few people know these answers. Cute Boots Chapter Thirteen (Dr. Tex Arcana Book 13) by Scott F Neve Price verified 6 hours ago

Beersheba, Israel Tex strongly suggested that he and little Miss Payne use his new Hover MOTHER machine to elevate to their desired altitude. It was an antigravity diving platform that was designed for emergency air and sea rescues. She agreed and then she set the rules down for the game, "We will dive from 10,000 feet. The goal is for speed and accuracy. The first one to land on the target is the winner." He asked, "What is the target?" She pointed at the glimmering hot tub in the back of Count Sago's white limousine, "There." After a few minutes of preparation, the two of them ascended on the Hover MOTHER to the height of ten thousand feet. They found it easier to kneel facing each other than to stand. The star-shaped ten foot around disc seemed to be lighter than air. The few tiny white clouds fell beneath them as they rose higher than the eagles. Just before the meter read 10,000 feet, she leapt off. Tex shrugged his shoulders and then he jumped as if he were doing a cannon ball into a big pool. He dropped within a few yards of her and he waved. He was bigger and his streamlined outfit gave him greater aerodynamics than the curvaceous girl. He got to within arm's reach of her, and then she pulled the handle of his parachute. It deployed and he was jerked up as if he were a puppet on strings. She laughed at him to scorn. He shook his head as he watched the girl point her body like an arrow at the fast approaching ground. Then he activated the remote for the Hover MOTHER machine. It obeyed his every command like a magic bullet. He stepped gracefully onto the platform and then he lay face down and flat against the surface. He pressed a set of buttons and then the impossible happened. The thing began to fall like a broken elevator. It plummeted through the air with a loud whistling noise that scared the crowd to bits. The women screamed in horror. The rich men took cover behind their expensive butlers. The common people fell to their knees and sucked dirt as ...

It's a story that weaves together the fibers of loyalty, bravery, and the unyielding pursuit of truth. "Quest for the Golden Bird" is a tale of transformation and discovery that resonates as much with the complexities of modern life as it does with timeless themes. DenHartog's masterful storytelling beckons you into a world where fairy tales are not just for children, but a gateway to understanding the deeper truths of our existence. Prepare to be enchanted by a story that leaves you questioning the nature of desire, the cost of ambition, and the true meaning of treasure.

Everyone has secrets. Some are hidden in plain sight. Some are buried. And some date back centuries. For Nora Grayson, those secrets are always in the open. An empath and a wizard living in Boston, she sees them come through her door every day as she acts as a counselor to the supernatural among us. Cheating spouses, financial troubles, and hidden longings all unfold in her private study as she struggles to keep magic from ripping through the walls and exposing Bright creatures to humanity. Harboring secrets for the Bright doesn't pay well either, so when Constable Derrick King arrives on her doorstep with an offer her bank account can't refuse, and a smile she can't forget, she is dragged from her Boston home and plunged neck-deep into werewolf politics. But there's more at play here than a socialite wedding. For starters, the bride and mother are at odds, the groom is clueless, and the father of the bride is off catching butterflies. To make matters worse, Derrick is conducting an investigation into the bride's family that threatens to land several of the wedding party in jail. After an attendee is discovered murdered, Nora becomes the prime suspect according to this socialite werewolf family and must rely on Derrick to clear her name. With a killer on the loose, a bride gone missing, and dark family secrets surfacing, Nora and Derrick race to uncover the culprit before they both become centerpieces at a werewolf wedding feast.

Infinity Line by Laura Lanni (LMNO Press) 3.8 Stars (8 Reviews)    Price verified 4 hours ago

In 2072, in a once vibrant metropolis on the eastern coast of what used to be America, biochemist Dr. Lorelei Fletcher hunts men. In a world gone insane with hatred, somebody has to do it. Lorelei stalks them until they catch her. She doses them with a molecular cocktail (silently, painlessly, with a needle, to the neck) to tame them. Part of an improbable plan for peace, Lorelei works to drive humanity toward a future that's female. Exclusively female. When the violence burns down, surviving women use Lorelei's drugs to take control. Changes are made. Baby boys are taken from their mothers, and selected women raise only daughters. For every boy allowed to live, three baby girls are born. Men and women live apart, neither concerned nor interested in each other until forced together. In exchange for fragile peace, the idea called family is forgotten -- until a small girl named Aida gets into Boys' School and meets a boy named Alex. Aida grows up with a unique perspective: she is the only girl in the world who lives with her father and knows boys. Alex is an Infinity Boy born on a Life Ticket that guarantees 80 years but provides no more rights than every other dosed and confined male. A girl. A boy. A unique bond. These fragile beginnings may be the only hope for humanity to finally reach a perfect equilibrium.
