The one who calls down thunder and lightning from the sky is the chosen one of God and becomes the nation's High Priest. The loser dies. (This Series, The Misfits of Gambria is a reworking of a former series titled Wolf 359. Unfortunately, too many readers associated it with a well-known TV show and the two are in no manner similar.)

CREEP: A Short Psychological Thriller by William Cook (King Billy Publications) 3.8 Stars (85 Reviews)    Price verified 3 hours ago

A dark story of a young woman's date with death! CREEP is a short psychological thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Serial Killers don't always get away with murder, no matter how hard they try. Includes bonus short story - Legacy. From CREEP: "Cassandra pounded on the window and frantically tried to push the rear doors open, first with her shoulders and then with her heels, to no avail. She peered into the dark confines of the garage and saw nothing except her frightened reflection looking back at her in the window, bathed in the dim yellow interior light of the cab. She cupped her neatly manicured hand across her brow and looked out the window again, her button nose touching the smeared glass as she did so. She thought she heard a deep growling noise somewhere nearby outside the cab and then her window was filled with bared teeth and the blackest, evil eyes, she'd ever seen. The huge head of the Rottweiler retreated into the shadows before launching itself back at the vehicle, the razor sharp canines crunching against the window and sending a trail of cracks across the glass. Steaming froth and saliva dripped down the webbed glass as the dog began to bark and thud its massive head against the side of the cab. Cassandra scuttled across the back seat as she wet herself, waves of fear shrinking her into a ball, as the crazed dog leaped at the cab again... " "William Cook tells a gruesome story with a sense of authenticity that makes you question with considerable unease if it really is fiction, after all." - Graham Masterton, author of The Manitou and Descendant "This man is simply scary. There is both a clinical thoroughness and a heartfelt emotional thoroughness to his writing. He manages to shock as well as empathize, to scare as well as acclimatize, yet beneath it all is a well read intelligence that demands to be engaged. I loved Blood Related. Ordinarily I hate serial killer stories, but William Cook won me over. He is a unique and ...

Past, present, and future had intertwined in a way Molly knew was true, but could explain to no one. Like the descendants of Abraham, who knew not what lay in the path ahead, but believed in the promise, that it would be fulfilled. Before the summer of 1879, fourteen year old Molly pretends to be carefree, sailing, never taking a breath. After hearing she may have to move away, she's tired of being someone other than the girl in the reflection -- the one who finds love and acceptance. Molly coaxes a lakeside meeting with the son of a nearby sharecropper, shy, good-looking Alex, who still won't look her in the eye. Her spirit-toting ma's obsessions, and number-codifying, poetic brother's strangeness, rob Molly of support she needs to keep a beau, plus battle against the townsfolk who openly hate her, because of the "one-drop rule". She replaces the dreaded existence they've mapped out for her with her own blueprint. Molly enlists the help of, mill owner, W. Neuman, a stranger to the South, bringing his own brand of fierceness, and his wife's quirky, flamboyant, no-nonsense aunt, visiting from Boston. Grover's Creek: A Christmas Fantasy by Bobby Underwood 4.2 Stars (23 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Grover's Creek is a wonderfully nostalgic and unabashedly sentimental Christmas fantasy. Filled with Americana and imbued with the longing most of us feel for a better time in our shared history, there is something universal in Nick's story of disillusionment with the present woes of the world. Searching for something more than his life as a crime photographer for a major paper in a metropolitan city has given him, what he finds can only be described as a Christmas miracle. A town steeped in the past, no longer on any map, and barely remembered, may hold the key to his future if he can find the faith and courage to accept what most would find beyond belief. Gentle and old-fashioned, Grover's Creek is a story of love and miracles, for those who still believe both are possible.

Searching for the Sun by Adrian Del Valle 3.7 Stars (54 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Upstairs, he removed a yellow note, folded and stuffed between the apartment door and the molding. To Sam Garrety. I don't appreciate your cat having fits every time you leave that apartment. Either you shut him up, or I will be forced to notify the landlord. Sam wrote her back and taped the note to her door. Dear Bertha, Sorry about the meowing from my cat, Dupree, I'm both amazed and impressed by your superior hearing ability, especially in lieu of all of the construction that has been going on out on the street lately. That you could actually hear him above the jackhammers and honking traffic is truly wondrous. You can be assured that I will do my absolute very best to keep him away from the door. Sincerely, Sam. Sam left for work. When he arrived home late that evening, he found another note from Bertha stuffed inside the same place. Look idiot, I have lived here in peace and quiet my whole life. I don't appreciate your wise cracking attitude and I don't like smelling your cat every time I pass your door. Do something about the noise or else. Me.__ To Me, thank you so much for expressing your concerns so eloquently. In compliance with your request this morning, I taped Dupree's mouth shut with duct tape and hung him up by all four limbs over my bed. Surprisingly, when I got home just now, I discovered that he had somehow worked his way out of the bindings in my absence. Therefore, I decided more drastic measures will need to take place. I am looking into horse tranquilizers to subdue him at least until I get back home after work from now on. The following Morning. Sam put off checking the door until after he had coffee. Curiosity finally got the best of him. He retrieved the latest note and sat at the table to read it. To the idiot next door. Look, I don't believe any of your bullshit. If this rhetoric of yours was meant to appease me, you have a thing or two coming. I just about had it with you. I have nothing else to say. To Bertha. Hey, that's great! I'm ...

Perfect for lovers of dark psychological fiction. Reviews: "A Dangerous Man is the most gripping book I've read in years. This page-turner is commercial fiction at its best. I defy anyone to read this and forget it. Michael is someone you remember." (Vulpes Libris Reviews) "One of the most incredible stories I have read in a long, long time. Sure to leave a MAJOR lasting impression on the reader long after reading the final chapter. It is a flawlessly written, beautiful yet haunting story, at times gritty, dark and intense." (Queer Magazine Online) "A compelling work of gay fiction and a real page-turner. "Zasu," as she is affectionately known, wants nothing more than to run the orange grove plantation when her father retires and live her life in peace. She has no use for society parties, gossip, or even worse, a husband. Which suits the men of Savannah just fine, for, as beautiful as she may be, no one wants an independent, business-minded woman like Zasu for a wife. But when Zasu meets dashing lawyer Gray Talbot, everything changes. Serious and quiet, Gray doesn't wave away her ambitions as fanciful or remind her of her place in society. Instead, he treats her as an equal, and makes her question her decision not to marry. But Gray is hiding secrets, secrets that will threaten their newfound admiration for each other... Gray Talbot is an abolitionist. And preaching abolition in the South during the Civil War is dangerous. Despite threats and violence, Gray doggedly pursues his desire to see all people free and treated equally. But falling in love with a slave-holding Southern woman wasn't part of the plan. As the Civil War looms with the election of Abraham Lincoln, the slaves on the Dupree Plantation are also affected. Abused at the hands of a white man, Zasu's maid, Renny, begins to open her eyes to the idea that there is more to life than living in bondage. Then we have Alayah, who finds herself in a very toxic relationship by her own admission. She's dealt with her longtime boyfriend, Rashad's, infidelities and indiscretions for way too long. Book 1 in the Shattered Series Cade is living a brand new life in California, and although his past is in ruins, he's slowly rebuilding a bright future for himself. He has a band, he's in school, and just like the Phoenix that's tattooed on his neck, he's determined to rise from the ashes of his past and move forward. He's resolved to make progress in his recovery, and following the gorgeous, blond suit back to his hotel room is definitely a step in the right direction. Blake has always lived a privileged life, full of money and material things but sorely lacking in love and affection. His singular goal in life has been to surpass his father's level of affluence, but that ceaseless focus on power and wealth has left him heartless and detached from the world. He doesn't have the time or patience for a relationship, and he's been perfectly content meeting his needs through random one-night stands and casual hook-ups. Until he meets Cade. For the first time in his life, he feels something... real. And it scares the hell out of him. Will Cade be able to trust Blake with the truth about his past? Will Blake be able to open himself to the idea of love and commitment? **Contains explicit MM sex scenes. Not for readers under the age of 18.** Note: This is the first installment in a series. It is not a standalone novel, and Cade and Blake's story does not conclude at the end of this book.

Diego's Brooklyn by Adrian Del Valle 3.9 Stars (49 Reviews)    Price verified 7 hours ago

Joe Barnes' home is a 9X12 room on a quiet tree-lined street near Downtown Brooklyn. He borrowed $10,000 from the Irish Mob in "Hell's Kitchen", a lot of money in 1961. The first payment is well over due. He's late by three months and now they want it all back. That's why he's hiding out across the river with no plans of going back to Manhattan. Joe is biding his time while he waits for a good tip on a fast horse at the Trotters. He still has all of the money he borrowed and believes he has hidden it well. Below, in a two room, first floor flat, 14 year old Diego lives with Ana, his handicapped mother. Money is hard to come by. A welfare check barely puts food on the table, so the boy hustles the streets to buy milk, bread, or anything else they need. He befriends Bill Jackson, an elderly black southerner from the Carolinas who lives one block over on Bergen Street with Beulah, his warm hearted, matronly wife. Though not on welfare, they scrape by on the little they get from Social Security, and lately, they have come up short for the electric bill. "And old Geezer the cat needs to eat, too. Momma been feedin' him scraps, but thems cats got to have their meat." Diego shows the older man how to fish for spare change in the subway gratings of the Lexington Avenue line. To earn more money, they deliver groceries in a modified baby carriage, but the venture fails from the start. "So you think this business went on belly up like a shot up gator?" says Bill. "Now, don't go selling your cow to buy a mule." 'Though streetwise and school-smart, nothing prepares Diego for what lie ahead when the Irish mob finally finds Joe Barnes. The once, quiet building is thrown into turmoil as it becomes witness to intimidation and murder. And the cops are of no help, either. One of their own wants that money, and he's willing to kill for it.

What Exactly is the Gospel?: A Guide for Born Again Christians to Share the Good News of Jesus Christ (Christianity Uncomplicated) by James Finke 4.7 Stars (127 Reviews)    Price verified 8 hours ago

From the author: My longtime barber was stunned and had tears in his eyes. "James, keep going. The entire shop is listening." The chatter, laughing, and cracking of jokes that normally filled the packed barber shop was absent. Instead, the entire place was listening intently to the conversation he and I were having as he cut my hair. It was the Gospel - the good news about the person and work of Jesus Christ - explained exactly as it is in this book. I'd been in that barber chair countless times before and nothing like this had ever happened. That's because it wasn't something particular about me that had changed the atmosphere of the room. It was the Gospel - the single greatest offer in history and the most powerful message ever to be announced on the planet. It is the power of God. Brothers and Sisters in Christ - we have a commission from Jesus Christ Himself to share His Gospel with all nations. It is my prayer that God will use this book to better equip you to do just that. You will: • Learn to methodically explain the essentials of the Gospel. • Be prepared to address some of the most frequently asked questions related to the faith. • Gain access to free printable Gospel tracts to aid your evangelism. "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few." Are you ready? Let's talk Gospel. About the Author James Finke has spent the past 16+ years in Corporate America managing $50-million-dollar insurance portfolios. He is an expert in assessing risk and hedging bets. Therefore, it sometimes catches people off-guard when they discover he has gone all-in and wagered everything that the Bible is true. His writing ministry began as a "quarantine project" for his church back in 2020. It has developed into a book series with copies in 17 countries and counting. The ultimate goal of the ministry is to glorify God and share the Gospel. Therefore, 100% of book proceeds are poured right back into the ministry. James lives with his wife and ...

101 Questions to Improve Your Novel: for Writing, Editing, Revising, and Polishing by Kristen James 4.8 Stars (9 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

From plot twists to dialogue, authors have a long list to think about when revising and polishing a novel. These 101 questions and explanations will help you improve and check your novel's opening, plot and character development, conflict, pacing, dialogue, and of course the writing itself. After months or years of working on a story, it's difficult to check the quality on every fiction element. 101 Questions looks at overarching issues, small details, and writing technique. You may learn about new techniques and tips, see a method differently, or realize that you forgot a trick. This handy list of 101 questions explores many possible ways to improve specific areas, add layers and depth, strengthen conflict, find plot holes, and identify writing issues. Contents: All About Story All About Editing The Beginning Plot & Structure Characters Chapters & Pacing Scenes Dialogue Setting and Description The Ending Strong Writing Final Checks Share Your Book! Sample Question - #40. Do all of your characters have strong feelings about each other? Working on this element truly adds another layer to your story. In life, we meet people and classify them right away. It's not often that we know a person but don't have any opinions or feelings about them. But we see that in stories all the time. Sometimes I read or edit a novel and have a hard time telling the characters apart. This arises when the characters aren't distinct, but it's also caused by a lack of feeling toward each other. If your hero really dislikes another character, that will color the hero's description and interaction with that character. Take a closer look at your work: make a list of all of your characters and then describe how your hero feels about them. If your hero doesn't feel anything that shows in your story right now, do you need to make that character more colorful? And by colorful, I mean annoying, more pushy, more opinionated, more deceitful, more secretive, more talkative, ...

Mortal Sentry (Raina Kirkland Book 2) by Diana Graves 4.3 Stars (43 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

Review by Brigitte: Professional reviewer of Paranormal Fantasy. I enjoyed reading this book as much as I enjoyed the first one if not more. Raina who is half Elf, half witch and turned into the only living vampire after being bitten, discovers more about herself and her gifts. The revelations are unexpected and finding out who her real father is comes as quite a surprise. Raina is pursued by other mythical beings and is constantly fighting to stay alive or being taken into captivity. Being an Empath is a great attribute, which she only uses for the greater good. I like how so many different mythical beings are portrayed in this book and the way everything flows and falls into place. We also find out quite a lot about Katie, Raina's half sister too, which explains her attitude in the previous book. This part of the book is quite heart breaking. This story is full of surprises, some nice ones and some shocking ones too. I would recommend that you read Fatal Retribution before reading Mortal Sentry as some of the things, which are revealed about various characters such as Mato, Alistair and a few others are quite unexpected. This book is full of magic, suspense, betrayal, hurt, love and passion. It held my interest from beginning to end and I would fully recommend to those who like Vampires, shifters, faes and other mythical characters. I will definitely read the next book in this series and thank you Diana Graves for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
