Cal Ventner is being pushed off the range and he knows it.
His cattle are being rustled with his herd dwindling to less than half its original size, and his men are ambushed and killed almost daily.
The band of killers in the small township of Mason Bend have no fear of the law, and the Sheriff is probably in cahoots with them anyway.
Ventner knows there is only one answer to the problem that faces him: he needs a handful of men who know their way around a gun. Men who fear nothing and who can help him clean up the territory. Something which the law seems unable to do. But such men are hard to find...
Then one lone man rides into the ranch and asks for a job, saying he will do anything.
Ventner notices right away the guns the man wears, tied down and with their handles rubbed smooth through constant use.
He hires this man on the spot, figuring that one man is better than none in this battle with the killers.
But will it be enough?
